Can someone tell me whether photos with aspect ratio 3:2 (the one for SLR cameras) are still taking the whole screen (no black bars), so I have to zoom out to see the picture in it's original aspect ratio?

Any improvements of the Photos app at all?

Thank you.

Anyone?

When I pull down the Notification Centre, the OS detects an statusbar touch and scrolls all the way up, was this mayor annoyance fixed in iOS 8? Thanks in advance.

Spotlight animation now cancelable before its finishing

This is hard to describe, but:

If you swipe down on the home screen to reveal Spotlight, it's now possible to immediately swipe up again immediately to 'cancel' the action.

Prior to this beta (including iOS 7, always), you were forced to wait until the animation finished completely before swiping back up again to cancel Spotlight.

It's a tiny thing, but it always bothered me. It's things like that contributed heavily to iOS 7 feeling cumbersome and slow… I love seeing these bits of polish make their way into iOS 8. :)

You sure?

Just swiped Spotlight back up before it completely came down.
iOS7.
This is if you don't lift finger/thumb from screen.

Ah, yes. The difference has to do with lifting your finger from the screen. If you *do* lift your finger from the screen, you can now cancel the process on iOS8.

Here's a link to a video of the process on my (iOS7) iPhone — you can see me repeatedly swiping down, then immediately swiping up again, to no effect. I can't get rid of spotlight until the keyboard stops moving:

On my iPad running iOS8b4, I can make that same motion and immediately cancel Spotlight:

Improvement to Restore from Backup

It seems that when you restore from backup it doesn't just wipe your device and start copying over anymore. It now restores app data and any apps that weren't present before yo chose to restore. It also leaves your iTunes match enabled (which was a great annoyance previously). No screenshot of course.

In iOS 8 beta 4 Apple improved the UX when adjusting the screen brightness in notification center by fading out the content overlay. Prior to this it was really difficult on the iPad to get the screen brightness just right with the content dimmed until notification center was closed.

Access to all of an apps different settings pages from the bottom of the main settings page.

*control center

and i believe this has been around since dp1

I have no idea if this has been talked about but today while at the bank I went to unlock my phone and discovered that there was a little app icon on the bottom left of the screen. When I swiped up it took me directly to the app (after inputting my passcode). Maybe now the phone is aware of where you are and it displays apps that are relevant to your location?

Yup, been around since the first iOS 8 beta release.

Oh boy! Where have you been since June??!!
Apple did add a new item in Settings for Handoff & Suggested Apps but the functionality has been there since the first beta.

I was going to ask the same thing!! I read someone said they fixed the false keyboard touches from swiping up control center, but this was a huge problem for notification center as well... I've experienced it an ungodly number of times, and I've literally just exited an app before pulling it down on occasion, simply to keep it from jumping back to the top of the page. It's a major issue, one I've reported to Apple feedback. It's more than those, though. If you're in a game for example, it's really hard to even bring it on....

The answer to above question about Notification Center and tapping on status bar.
I see. Quoting the post can usually help make things like that clear (and usually even gives a notification to someone that their post has been essentially responded to).
