I can understand the necessity to get the beta, we are geeks... specially back then in iOS 7 where the main thing was the redesign. now it is a future proof release i get it... but its not worth downgrading your phones battery performance. all the enhancements for iOS 8 like app communication etc are unavailable right now, same with widgets. (theres no apps for that lol) so I don't get the benefit specially when you have a jailbreakable firmware out there.

I've been testing betas since iOS 4 and i've never seen a 20% battery loss in less than 25 minutes, even with iCloud turned off... it might be stable as in "it doesn't at least crash" but behind the scenes the phone runs hot, who knows how the processor is getting hammered or how the network usage is performing in the background...

Yeah, the battery life isn't great at all.

sorry but your full of crap... my iPhone has tons of tweaks, widgets themes emulators installed and my battery life is stellar in iOS 7 when compared to iOS 8. maybe you are a bit accustomed to how android handles battery life? because in no way shape of form its compared to iOS 7 at the present state. I'm sure eventually, just not now.

been trying betas since iOS 4 bud... by the way
Or, you know, people can and do have different experiences with battery and different installs (among many other things).

Anyone know when the beta expires?

This is your experience. The person who you are replying to didn't have these issues. Neither do I. Experience with a beta differs from person to person.

Again, this may be the case for you, but for me and many others battery life has been on par if not better than iOS 7.

Anyone else having iTunes refuse to sync music? It just gets stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied" or "waiting for items to copy". I've left it overnight and it never gets past it. I did the OTA update to b4; hoping doing a restore might fix it.

Hey guys, I just installed IOS 8 beta 4 on my iPad 3, and it was first iOS 8 beta I installed on this device.

What I noticed is that when I press the home button from apps, it stutters so much that there is no animation. Not all the time, but it's even worse than iOS 7.1. I already stared a thread about this bug on iOS 7.1 on iPad 3, and others were experiencing this problem too. I thought this should had been fixed by now, but it's now even worse! I really can't believe how stubborn Apple is. I've sent bug report a while ago 2 times, and I told others to report as well, and they said they did.

Do you guys also have this stutter? How can we make Apple fix this before the final release of iOS 8? :(

That is how it goes in beta releases sometimes. One release may be smooth while the next appears worse. Apple isn't even close to finishing the OS for release. Be patient. The beta isn't for public use.

But it was a bug in IOS 7.1! It should had been fixed when they started ios 8 betas. The thing is, it's MUCH worse than IOs 7.1 now. I'm led to believe that by the end of betas for iOS 8, it will be same as ios 7.1 where it will still have the stutter but a bit better than current betas. I guess it's time for me to sell this iPad and get an android tablet.

If minor stutters are an issue for you, the last thing you want to do is get an Android tablet.

Seems that voice control to launch apps is broken if you transferred the app via Xcode. In beta 3 I could trigger Siri and say open sesame and an application called sesame would launch. In beta 4 I say open sesame and get a wise crack about Ali baba.

Anyone else confirm? And is it the sort of thing I can file a bug report for?

Has anyone found a quick fix for this? Otherwise I'm going to refer back to beta 3

Which iDevice do you have? I have an iPad 3. this is Not a minor stutter. It sutters every single time I press home button after just using ANY app for maybe 10 minutes. When I mean stutter, the animation for going home, is like almost non-existent, because it jumps to home screen with like 5fps. In iOS 7.1, it happened when I used apps like Safari, youtube, Facebook for more than an hour, intensively. But with this iOS 8 beta 4, it happens even after about 10 minutes of using almost any apps, when I press home button, it stutters significantly. And my nexus 4 is smooth as butter on Android L port btw.

The bug from previous firmware is NOT fixed, but gotten even worse.

Having issue with quick reply from notification centre. Bottom row of keys are not working ie those keys 123, globe, space, and return. Apparently when you press 123, z will pop up instead.

So I'm still having this issue... I'll be listening to music through headphones and when I unplug the headphones and then try to adjust the ringer volume with the side keys, it's adjusting "Volume" not "Ringer." I have to restart the phone for it to work properly. Anyone else having this issue? I'm on a 5S.

Don't take this question the wrong way, but are you a legitimate developer, or are you just a fan? If it's the latter, that might explain why a UI stutter is making you compare your Beta-loaded iPad to an Android device.. Your UI Stutter is important; however. Have you reported it in Bug-Reporter? That's where you need to report it.

Perhaps we need a Wiki to explain what a Beta is and what it's purpose is?

I've had 10 years of beta testing with large software platforms under my belt, and what we are seeing is typical of a large corporate Beta stabilization period. Bugs crop up, they fix them, and the fixes need to be tested.. nothing new here.

Without trying to sound arrogant, I think its important to mention that sometimes large corporations have deadlines to meet with their shareholders..among other commitments (ahem, an extremely large and important HARDWARE introduction!) and sometimes that means making hard decisions like going to market with a cosmetic or slight performance concern, KNOWING that they have a patch coming down the short-term pipe.

I understand we all want Apple to create perfect software and hardware 100% of the time, but that isn't possible.

earlier today my phone rang and the caller ID utilized the whole screen as opposed to the small circle. When I tried later tonight, it reverted back to the small circle for the ID picture.

Anybody else able to get the full screen back or is this not present yet. I'm was running beta 4 when this happened.

Was this for the same exact number/contact?

this lad! lol

don't listen to this guy if you value what you have on your phone and rely on it too much to play with beta software. no matter what you say about "user experience..." beta 4 has terrible battery downgrade issues, the person I originally replied did say battery is terrible

Your device does not backup your photos & videos, since these are in iCloud Photo Library. In other words your media are not stored twice in iCloud anymore.

It's probably because the iPad doesn't have a phone feature so no phone favourites, but maybe in future betas they can use Email VIPS, or Contact favourites
Theres FaceTime where you can have favorites and even make calls too in iOS 8 with an associated iPhone.

I know and I'm on your side too. But maybe there starting with iPhone. And some users will not have an associated iPhone. Can you make calls, I thought you could only receive them.

It seems like you can make them as well. Not counting being able to make FaceTime Audio or regular FaceTime calls.

I wish I hadn't downgarded my iPhone now? Considering getting an Moto G, but don't want to leave iMessage and FaceTime
