Why are people asking for the MD5 hash? I don't understand why.

Also I think I know why I'm getting the not found message I posted about in another thread. I think I need Xcode 6 GM so I'm downloading that now to see if it fixes it. Someone mentioned the USB drivers being buggy. Hopefully this fixes it, will let you know.

It's to make sure the ipsw is genuine.

However, it's not a big deal. Apple verifies the integrity of the archive before it's installed, so it's pretty much impossible for you to install malware this way. If it were possible, jailbreaking would be trivial.

Right, which makes the whole "genuine" checking using MD5 pretty much pointless anyway.

Does the GM have any problems with iCloud / iCloud drive? Will everything back up as per usual (I know the Betas had problems)

Thanks

The sarcastic question about battery life may actually be a good one. Well, for me at least. Beta 5 was majorly f-ed up for me, causing heating and rapid battery drain like crazy. Not exactly confidence-inspiring for a build right before GM.

Can anyone plz comment on whether there are any improvements or not?

Well tried with iTunes 12 and Xcode 5 to update to the iOS 8 GM and it crashed and now have the iPhone DFU issue.

Downloading Xcode 6 now...

has anyone followed the thing where it says we should restore our phones before going GM?
I'm not a fan of this, wondering if anyone else has done the itunes > check for update blah blah backdoor way without restoring?

Will the GM work on Yosemite Public Beta 2 or would I have to use 6.1 beta?

Be very careful, I've been keeping up with things in the Apple Developer forum and there have been some saying that they are getting issues with public beta 2 so be careful with it. Might not work.

Itunes Crashes upon iOS8 GM install

Hopefully iTunes 12 receives an update so that I can restore as new with the GM. So far, any time a device is plugged in while in recovery mode (or enters recovery mode as part of a restore), it instantly crashes.

Same here, Working on Xcode GM install and hope that fixes. I don't want to app zap iTunes 12, downgrade to iTunes 11, install iOS7 over this!

Xcode is acting funny and not launching now....

I need to make sure i'm running OS X 10.10 DP7.

Upgrading works fine as well.

I option-clicked on "Check for Updates" in iTunes so it doesn't do a restore.

If you are asking about continuity features, I don't know with PB 2 as I am using DP 7.

I have iOS 8 GM installed on my iPhone and my iPad Air, and I am now able to send and receive calls on my Late 2011 13" MBP (along with SMS) whereas I wasn't able to send receive and send calls before. Handoff is working seamlessly between the phone and the iPad Air. I wish my MBP could take advantage of the handoff feature.

I just did an Update to 8.0 on my iPhone 5s (that was running 7.1.2) without any issues so far. I used the ipsw file for my phone with iTunes 11.3.1.2 under Windows 7.

Make sure you do not have some old x code software from an old install. I found a old xcode install from OSX lion (!!!) on the drive and removed it. Then the xcode 6 gm would install and run ...iPhone now restored.

Funny, I thought GM would be iOS 8.0.1. I guess they will be releasing an OTA around launch.
