Now, in addition to my iP5 running just fine. My iPad 4 worked quite smooth right after initial reboot. A little bit of lag in Safari, but barely noticeable. Overall doing quite well. Neither device was ever on any of the betas.

So far so good, not noticing any reloading on my Air. To tell you the truth it was not a problem before the update.

iOS8 is like haivng a new phone, Friday's arrival will make it even better!
Plenty of folks as attested here will say otherwise so well see

I've wiped my iPhone 5 and downloaded iOS 8 but now I'm not sure whether to go through with the update :( Apple should make it easy to go back to iOS 7

Just to adds other data point. My iPhone 5 and iPad 4 are both silky smooth after updating. I used the OTA update.

This happens every time there is a major update..

When you update iOS, a lot of things happen in the background for hours after the update is complete. As others have mentioned, re-indexing of things, cleanup tasks etc etc etc.. Give it a few hours to finish what it needs to ...

Every.. Single.. Time...

Insanely slow on my ipad mini. I know it's getting on a bit, but iOS8 renders it obsolete.I hope people are right about it improving with a bit of time.

You must only have a couple of tabs open at a time if it doesn't happen to you? I notice it all the time with even 4/5 tabs open -_-
Exactly or he's one of those that turns a blind eye to it :apple:

Btw I very much enjoy my Air but let's not wipe it under the rug here

Really? Proof of this? Hours of indexing in background? Cleanup tasks?

Set up as new

Clean install my friends. Major updates like this should always be done via a clean install IMO. I've seen many people over the years simply upgrade, complain about issues, redo it as a clean install, and live happily ever after.

Yep, here its comes! Me and plenty of others warned about iOS 8 being laggy as hell even on the newest iPads. Get ridiculed only for the masses to start saying the same thing. Irony.

Haha yea i agree. People kept denying about lag and stutter on ios 8 betas and gms, but i noticed a LOT. I guess as a lot of regular users update, we will see more thread about it. Im not updating my mini retina and ipad 3. :) i watched many ios 8 GM and beta videos on youtube, and even ipad mini retina had slight frame drops when closing apps especially. There is a video for ipad 3 with GM, and it laggy as POS when closing apps, even after using just clock app for less than a minute. LOL. I mean i dont like the 7.1.2 performance either on ipad 3 but 8 is like 100x worse. I cant believe apple is releasing it. :)

It's always lags whilst photos as processed and organised after update. Every release is the same. iOS8 runs absolutely fine on all my devices. If it doesn't on yours then something isn't right or you haven't been patient enough.
