Clean install my friends. Major updates like this should always be done via a clean install IMO. I've seen many people over the years simply upgrade, complain about issues, redo it as a clean install, and live happily ever after.

and then I loose all my messages and whatsapp history? alongside with my photos and videos? :(

My iPhone 5 with ios 8.0 = fast / as expected
My iPad air with ios 8.0 = choppy / leggy / unstable. More so than ios 7.

It's always lags whilst photos as processed and organised after update. Every release is the same. iOS8 runs absolutely fine on all my devices. If it doesn't on yours then something isn't right or you haven't been patient enough.

Had it on my iPad Air for a few days and it was a laggy mess with the keyboard on. I can actually type fast on an ipad so it's very noticeable. Hunt and peckers need not apply.

Completely agree. Not sure why others don't get that the majority of complaints are from ipad users. It's completely unacceptable for the latest devices to run like crap. Arstechnica has a great article on ios 8 with benchmarks proving ios 8 is slower on all devices.

lol system monitor:p

All the iPad Airs have the same software and same animation smoothness (And no, apps don't effect core animations, they CAN'T). You can disagree with it as much as you like, but it is a fact.
So if my iPad Air (and plenty of other people her) has a slightly stuttery blurring animation while opening Siri, yours does as well. You may not notice it, but it is there.

And I guess activating siri (blurring animation) is also perfectly (60 fps) smooth:rolleyes:

Also, pulling control center from the lock screen isn't choppy at all on your iPad Air?
I guess people just don't notice some things. I'm with you on the choppiness and delays when simply trying to open or close an app or bring up control center. It's a mess and I'm happy to be back on 7.1.2. The keyboard lags like crazy in safari too. But it is ironic other things seems to be very very quick like browsing safari. I'll wait till they fix it. Hopefully doesn't take 6 months like ios 7

Agree. I find it ridiculous that my 1 year old, A7 equipped iPad Air, has worse performance than my iPhone 5 (which runs great).

I also hope it won't take Apple 6 months to improve performance on all iPads.

My 5S is running BUTTERY smooth after just doing the iOS 8 update OTA. It seems just as fast as before and my battery indicator hasn't moved from 98% since I started using the phone again about 20 minutes ago.

Less than an hour in but so far it's beyond my expectations.

Ohh there was this dude who claimed that GM is different than public build even the build number is same.

Well supposed to be and typically is. However it seems iCloud Photo Library (beta) is missing the release version. Just updated my wife's phone from 7.1.2 via iTunes and she does not have the option. I have the GM and the option is there. So at least that is one small difference.

iOS 8 is obviously not ready. Should have been in beta for one more month methinks.

I don't understand why. iOS 8 is buggier than iOS 7 was at launch, which was a total redesign.

I installed the GM a few days ago and have no icloud photo library

Ipad fresh install of ios8 and now my iPad is lagging like hell and now I don't want to even use it. Good job apple.

Apple seems to be caring more about the speed and breadth of their releases rather than the polish and tightness of them. I agree, both 7.0 and especially 8.0 are kind of junk in terms of normal UI performance. They'll probably clean some of it up by 8.1, but some of it is unacceptable for a mainstream release, like the wonky keyboard implementation, rotation, and tons of graphical hiccups even on brand new hardware.

Updated my 5S and ipad 4.

The 5S was lagging at first, but only because it was doing the Cloud Drive migration thing for the first 20 or so minutes. After that, lightning fast. Couldn't be happier. Ipad 4, same thing.

Apple did ok by me on this release, which is much more than I can say for the Maps debacle or ios 7 as a whole. I had issue with that thing (on the exact same hardware) until 7.1.

updated ipad air thru itunes, even faster than it already was. lightning fast.
i didn't bother updating my 4s. ill get the 6 and give this one to my mom and i don't wanna hear her whining about how slow it is.

Is yours a Developer registered device? Another thread regarding this someone indicated than only Dev registered devices have it. It even shows (beta) beside the option.
