Updated my 5S and ipad 4.

The 5S was lagging at first, but only because it was doing the Cloud Drive migration thing for the first 20 or so minutes. After that, lightning fast. Couldn't be happier. Ipad 4, same thing.

Apple did ok by me on this release, which is much more than I can say for the Maps debacle or ios 7 as a whole. I had issue with that thing (on the exact same hardware) until 7.1.

how are you liking Photos?

Apple seems to be caring more about the speed and breadth of their releases rather than the polish and tightness of them. I agree, both 7.0 and especially 8.0 are kind of junk in terms of normal UI performance. They'll probably clean some of it up by 8.1, but some of it is unacceptable for a mainstream release, like the wonky keyboard implementation, rotation, and tons of graphical hiccups even on brand new hardware.

Thank you :p

Features, speed (Safari is fast, apps load fast etc.) and design (at least for me) are amazing in iOS 7 and 8. It's just that there are more stuttery animations, graphical glitches etc. than ever before on even the newest devices which is quite annoying.

Spotify keeps crashing on me now. Not sure how it worked on iOS 7 as I only started using it today.

Saying that I don't remember the last time I had a crash before iOS 8.

How long do we have before they stop letting you go back to iOS 7?

Is your a Developer registered device? Another thread regarding this someone indicated than only Dev registered devices have it. It even shows (beta) beside the option.

It isn't...
I guess that could be it then:cool:

Give it time to settle. Like 24 hours. After I restored the GM clean last week my 5s was laggy, wifi was terrible, phone was really hot. After a day or so this freaking thing is outstanding! I was off the charger for three days and still had some juice left this morning!!
lmao, that's some funny sfuff. it either works or doesnt, not gona settle from slow to fast. thx for the laugh

Is anyone else getting an occasional screen flickering to black when swiping between aps?

On the iPad Air.

Smooth and fast on my iPhone 5s. Did a clean install as I usually do with these major releases and have yet to see any crashes, or freezes. Have all my apps reinstalled at this point as well.

Really enjoying iOS8 thus far. :)

Anyone having lag on the Weather app? When I go into the view that I can see all the cities, it lags on my 5s

Jobs wouldn't have let this happen...

:rolleyes:

You mean to tell me a software version that adds a ton of new features is slower on the same hardware? No way next you'll tell me that the sky is blue...

Dunno what you guys are doing but iOS 8 is running just fine on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini with retina.

I don't know. My iPad air is zipping along fine

Yeah I don't think people understand after a major update there is a lot all the way to a super whole lot that goes on once the device is running for the first time.

Ohh you were the guy spreading false news that Public release will not have debugging and will be different than GM release. Well guess what, the public release is exactly same as GM bit by bit. So next time go troll somewhere else.

iOS 8 is even worse than iOS 7 on release date.

The keyboard Shift button does not clearly tell me whether caps lock is on or not. That's annoying me no end.

Lol you have all of these issues. My caps works just fine. And historically it is true, there have been multiple cases where the public release and the GM were not identical, I have proven this in the other thread.

Go back to iOS 7 and be done with it, I'm sure the forum would benefit when you stopped posting whiny posts saying "omgz my shift button stopped working and THIS MUST BE A FATAL FLAW WITH IOS 8!!!111" I think you've pretty clearly displayed a lack of understanding that just because YOU are having a problem does not indicate an issue with the entire release. :rolleyes:

Furthermore, there is no such thing as perfect software. Every operating system ever devised has bugs. iOS 8 is no exception. The only perfect but free program goes like this:

Code:
-(void)main
{
     NSLog(@"Hello, world");
}

That's pretty much the only bug free program you will ever encounter.

^^^ Shift button ambiguity will annoy you sooner or later. There will come a time you will be confused whether caps lock is on or off. :p

can anyone help me i just restored & updated my iphone 5 to iOS 8 but problem is when i locked it it locked me from my phone completely like my passcode wont work & i am getting mad can someone help?

My original iPad mini has actually improved in speed when compared to iOS 7. I did not expect that, but I am pretty happy about it. :D

Is it just me, or does the display on the retina iPad mini look a LOT better than it did? I am really noticing a difference, I think they must have a new calibration profile compared to the beta before GM.

You probably set up a new passcode and forgot it, or a family member did. Pass codes don't set themselves. Pretty much the only thing you can do is put it in recovery mode and restore it from iTunes, or erase it from find my iPhone. Better hope you had a backup!

Best of luck.

I have iphone 5 and iPad 4. Iphone is about the same as ios7, but ipad 4 I feel is improved. Just feels faster.
