I had more trouble with iOS 7 in my first gen iPad mini than with iOS 8. And 8.1 made it run even smoother. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but that's how it's gone for me.

You don't have to be in any majority to be right--and you are. Bad, frightened, stupid people always feel threatened when anyone or any company becomes successful. It's totally insane and irrational. Just know that the best revenge is success. Apple will just keep doing its great things, and all these fools will scuttle off under their rocks.

It should be possible to turn off the red 1 notification on the Settings icon.

I have seen too many iPad 2s that updated and now run horribly.

Also it shout be possible to restore to previous iOS. Or even the iOS that came with the device so that the hardware can function as it did when purchased.

If I was forced to buy new hardware after being tricked into an iOS update, it would probably not be from Apple.

They still need to fix the orientation notifier bug.

For example,
1. Go to Stock App in portrait
2. Press Edit button
3. Put your phone into landscape (Screen should not rotate)
4. Press cancel button.

Now the orientation glitch is there. I first notice it when I was developing an App, which API somehow rotate the previous view controller without notifying it. The end result is the glitch.

Another problem that I found is that the ALAsset API on setImageData does not overwrite the existing photo, instead it generate a new one and kept the old one in file system without telling the user. It become a garbage data and user/developer have no access to it at all unless you jailbreak. This is where "Others" space junk came from and were unable to delete it.

There are plenty other iOS bugs that really turn me off, I really do hope that they restructure their engineering department and hire the right people, not another person who just look for visa.

Do you guys know anyone in that 5% that is STILL on iOS 6 or earlier? Do you work with them? Are you in a relationship with them? I'm assuming it's probably not anyone in these forums...

Man I'd love to talk to those people for 5 minutes and see how stubborn and weird they are.

Let me fix that for you:

Seriously, you sound like someone insulted your grandmother, not a corporation.

besides, I think the people who haven't upgraded yet are not waiting for iOS 8 to get less buggy, they just ran out of space. I had to clear about 5 GB of space on my 16 GB iPhone to update to iOS 8, and that's a lot of space to clear if you don't use iTunes to update. I still have no idea why Apple continues to sell the 16GB iPhone.

I agree. This space issue is a huge issue for the people with 16GB machines. Since there's overhead on the 16GB to start with (2-4GB?), needing another 5GB for the install is cRaZy....

He just turned two. Leave him alone!!!

I bet you were stubborn and weird when you were two.

I wonder how many people updated their older phones thinking they could get Apple Pay.... even though it was only available to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus because of hardware..

I wouldn't worry too much. IOS users are generally not ignorance.

Probably also increased when people (like myself) realized that they could no longer use Pages, Numbers etc without updating. Was forced to update my 3rd gen iPad earlier today in order to use Pages.
Now I can finally use Pages on my NOW UNSTABLE iPad. :apple:

I've just stopped using Pages. "Only Apple could do this."

Seeing how 7 bricked the 4S, I am not very optimistic about 8 on 5s.

But Apple had been trying to force me to get 8 while I am perfectly happy with 7.0.6

They forced the download to eat up storage space. That did not work with my 64GB 5s.
Now, they won't let me use App Store on the phone to update any apps. The update button will just launch the existing app without updating. The update all button is grayed out. Yet, there is still the eyesore of those red number on the top left corner of the App Store icon. This did not do the trick to trick me into 8 as I can still update through my iMac's iTunes. Cumbersome? Yes. Lab rat? Heck no!

Major reason on 7.0.6 is because they decided to reduce the useable end call key from a perfectly fine rectangle button to a tiny round button that does not make it any easier to use.

When will Apple be able to afford to hire someone that has a clue in UI to keep Jony off from this kind of work...

Yeah, this is the same doom and gloom we've been hearing forever. Everything is amazing and no one is happy.

If their products and services no longer for your needs, there are other options.

Yes, but a common response to that statement goes something like this-

"I like Apple, I really do. But if they just did (x), (y), and (z), I'd be happy again."

Some people are just stuck in a holding pattern, crossing their fingers and waiting for Apple to do what they want them to do. But why wait for Apple to change when you have other options that meet your needs?

As for your first line... you're exactly right. Every year, Apple is worse than they've ever been, makes the least inspiring products they've ever made, has more problems than they've ever had, and yet here we are today. Ten years down the road, Apple will have come out with new product lines that continue to sell millions upon millions, and today's problems will be mere footnotes.

And quite frankly, I think that thought pisses people off.

I have to say it is surprising just how many users will update their devices very early after a new iOS update is released.

They foolishly trusted that their Apple stuff would just work.

This was the last time I'll be an early adopter unless things change dramatically in Cupertino. My iPhone has 8.1, but when I updated my Air, I reverted to 7.1.2 in less than 24 hours, while I still could. And just forget installing Yosemite on my two Macs. Since Apple gave one last finger to Mac Mini owners by turning off the handoff/continuity features in the 2011 Mini, there's nothing interesting in the new OS for me anyway.

I wish I had time to hang out in discussion forums of products i don't like to make fun of those people. And you don't even see what that makes you look like.

Living proof that Apple users take themselves too seriously.

I'm a hero. I'm providing balance to the discussion in the face of an avalanche of blind support for Apple and everything they do, no matter how flawed. Luckily logic is on my side.

Meanwhile, this is the spiteful stuff Apple supporters post here, and it makes my little quips pale in comparison:

It has nothing at all about being stubborn, 3GS can't got beyond 6. I'm still using that phone. See, you do know someone like that. When stocks of 6+ finallly are not as tights by years end, I probably going to get the 6+.

I don't take any of this seriously. I have seriously heard absolutely anything you could say to me. I've been using Apple products for several decades. I used them through grade school, high school, community college, college, and law school, and as a small business owner. I have listened to Apple be ridiculed by so many people, for so many reasons, that if you seriously think you could find anything original to ridicule then you are delusional.

p.s. I agree with the other guy. When someone i talk to tells me what phone they use, or computer, i never feel the need to make fun of or ridicule what they are using. Seems about as pointless as could be. Use whatever you want, it really doesn't matter. Life is too short for that.

Basically, you have a fracking ego the size of a mountain and spend your time here congratulating yourself on your "cleverness". So bravo for spending your precious time "educating" us poor lost souls (sic); hope you won't regret that time on your deathbed. Would shake your hand I am just too busy getting off on my Apple products.
