Basically, you have a fracking ego the size of a mountain and spend your time here congratulating yourself on your "cleverness". So bravo for spending your precious time "educating" us poor lost souls (sic); hope you won't regret that time on your deathbed. Would shake your hand I am just too busy getting off on my Apple products.

You're most welcome (but last sentence is a bit creepy).

I expect it's because they think people will buy them.

If the 16GB iPhone 6 and 6+ don't sell well, Apple probably won't continue the practice.
It's easier to convince people to spring for another $100 if (a) you only get 16 GB for the base price and (b) the step up is 48 GB extra (and not just 16 or 32 GB). I don't know how large the percentage of people is that do so, but it is really profitable percentage.

Additionally, they also save some money by only having to pay for 16 GB (those savings are much less than the $100 gained when people upgrade, maybe $5-10, but then probably more people get the base model then upgrade).

Well I was hoping they enabled it for iPhone5/5S users seeing how you can use Apple Pay with the Apple Watch. I've heard that you can still use Apple Pay with iPhone 5/5S provided you have an Apple Watch, but I guess they will enable that functionality later.

Or maybe 5/5S users will have to add their credit cards with the Apple Watch app for iOS.

iOS 8.2 will probably be released when the Apple Watch goes on sale. That will probably take care of 5/5S upgrade to handle Apple Pay.

Great - now half have this POS iOS version!
My families devices are crippling slow ( ipad airs - 5s's and 6 pluses)
And Safari is as fast it makes feel I am back in the dialup days.
Touch response is freezing and you have to wait for it to do some unknown processes before it is able to address user input again.
what a pathetic upgrade Apple - shoddy job - now fix it, because I paid good money for usable devices!!!!!!

Can't believe how wrong you are--every single one of your points.

No, he really isn't. Apple has completely changed. The transition is almost complete. And they are smart as hell, as it seems like it's paying off to completely abandon long-time users and go for the mass market with disposable items.

But hey, I concede this is a matter of perspective.

If you enjoy Apple, then more power to you.

It's just that I need more than an appliance, and Apple has exited out of the market. I now have to hunt older hardware down, because neither their new hardware nor their new software let me do what I want, like it used to.

And there is still nothing in the competing market that is comparable. I have to have magsafe, their multitouch implementation, their multiple desktop setup, the uber-easy access to components for upgrades/repairs.

So, hackingtosh + Android it is. Yosemite and iOS are a full-on, HELL NO for me.

Another problem that I found is that the ALAsset API on setImageData does not overwrite the existing photo, instead it generate a new one and kept the old one in file system without telling the user. It become a garbage data and user/developer have no access to it at all unless you jailbreak. This is where "Others" space junk came from and were unable to delete it.

That 'Other' problem has existed for quite a while, ie, is not iOS 8 specific.

Too bad it is somewhat glitchy and has stuttering worse than iOS7... Mini 2 is staying on 7.1.2 for now. iPad 4 already upgraded to 8.1 and it's not too bad, actually. Neither is the iPhone 5, I just wonder why the Mini 2 performs worse eve the Apple store Mini 3 display models were super fluid and without stuttering.

I'm a hero. I'm providing balance to the discussion in the face of an avalanche of blind support for Apple and everything they do, no matter how flawed.

I will be recommending you for the Congressional Medal of Honor for your heroic deeds.

Apple opened iOS a little bit (for custom keyboards) and that's good, but user experience is disappointing. Integration is subpar, no consistency, sometimes spotlight will show without keyboard, animations are screwed up, etc.

The Health app has never worked for me. I have three apps connected and the app claims not to have any data. While it would be great to have this function, it's definitely not a deal breaker.

Loving the 6 Plus!

Do you guys know anyone in that 5% that is STILL on iOS 6 or earlier? Do you work with them? Are you in a relationship with them? I'm assuming it's probably not anyone in these forums...

Man I'd love to talk to those people for 5 minutes and see how stubborn and weird they are.

My iPhone 3GS is still on iOS 6.1.6, do you have a problem with that? :p

updating ipad 2 made it much slower. Think twice about updating older iOS devices.

inb4 "planned obsolesce doesn't exist". It does and older devices slowing down just proves that.

*waits for fanboys crying that I'm making false statements and that Apple doesn't participate in planned obsolesce.*

*gets popcorn*

I don't take any of this seriously. I have seriously heard absolutely anything you could say to me. I've been using Apple products for several decades. I used them through grade school, high school, community college, college, and law school, and as a small business owner. I have listened to Apple be ridiculed by so many people, for so many reasons, that if you seriously think you could find anything original to ridicule then you are delusional.

p.s. I agree with the other guy. When someone i talk to tells me what phone they use, or computer, i never feel the need to make fun of or ridicule what they are using. Seems about as pointless as could be. Use whatever you want, it really doesn't matter. Life is too short for that.

This is so true!

As long as I've been on MR, I don't think I've ever experienced over 1% of the problems that have been laid out here over the years. I have a lot of Apple products, I update every year with iPhones & iPads, kids & wife included. I get a new MacBook Pro every 3-4 years and so on.

Don't think for one second I'm saying Apple is problem free, I have had my issues! But they were resolved quickly with Genius Bar or Replacement. Their customer service alone is second to none.

Please show me one computer product, phone product, tablet product, software and complete echo-system etc. that has the quality, and the flat out bitchen design, with the customer support that comes with Apple!:apple:
I would be interested!

All the problems Apple supposedly has, year after year, you would think people that are effected time after time would go elsewhere. I can't figure out why Apple is still in business with all the catastrophic failures, or the Apple doom.

Some will say that we are just Apple Fanboys etc. Well Apple sure sells a lot of products that make us Fanboys happy, and to non Fanboys ,or else they wouldn't be here complaining. I guess it begs the question, who are the idiots?

Or maybe we just have a lot of closet Fanboys on here.;)

That 'Other' problem has existed for quite a while, ie, is not iOS 8 specific.

It existed for awhile now because they never bother to fix the freaking bug.

I report them all and they still haven't got through it.

Another example, iOS 7 textview is broken with auto scroll on return since first beta, and reported by tons of developers. They never try to fix it until iOS 8. W T F?

ITP: Age old devices that can't update don't exist.

I guess I'm just lucky. My iPad 3 works great with 8.1 (and so does my iPad Air 2), All my phones 5, 5S, and 6 all work beautifully with 8.1 (5 and 5S used for international travel, thanks t-mobile), and even my early 2011 MacBook Pro loves 10.10 and has no graphics problem. I must be living a charmed life.

I wonder how many people updated their older phones thinking they could get Apple Pay.... even though it was only available to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus because of hardware..

Yeah... I don't want iOS 8 because it pretty much does nothing for my iPhone 5. I am the 43%!

Untold message behind every and each updates is this: Buy our latest product, or we will make it slower.

I wonder if 8 brought over anyone who had stayed on 6. I think if you had already gone 7, it would have been a case of just carrying on downhill, but if I had managed to stay on iOS 6, I might still be on the platform!
