In what scenarios does NumberSync actually make sense? The only one i can find is if your phone is lost or stolen or the battery runs out.

You could always make phone calls as long as you were on the same wifi network. I cant really think of a situation other than the ones listed above where I would have my iPad or iPad pro nearby but not my iPhone.

Updated carrier setting, Wifi calling is active in Watch App settings on iPhone, but when I put the phone into airplane mode and try to make a call on my watch, I get "Call Failed". Am I missing something?

Using my home wifi, and there's no specific setting for selecting a network on my watch, but assuming that it already knows my network because my phone has been connected on it.

I expect this is because whenever you put your phone into airplane mode, it also puts the Apple Watch in Airplane mode, no?

It's not new to Safari, but could very well be to Safari View Controller.

Other Music improvements -
Adding a song to a playlist you've made available offline, will auto download that song.
Downloaded or added "dynamic" playlists, i.e. "Alternative A-list" will auto update and download the new songs.

Have you been able to actually see this functionality? I've got a playlist that is set to be "downloaded to this iPhone", then when I add a song to it that isn't stored locally, it doesn't downloaded it automatically.

Another example is a smart playlist that has all my music in it, so that I can download that playlist and thus store my entire music library offline, but when I add a new song to my music (and therefore the smart playlist), it doesn't get automatically downloaded.

Unfortunately, the Music app still doesn't consistently show "Only Offline Music" when toggled.
Apple really wants you to get used to the idea of listening to music off the cloud.

Finally got it to work, in a roundabout sorta way. Not sure if this method did the trick or it just took a little time for it to happen. I tried several times with just the phone and watch, it wasn't until i tried setting up my iPad for wifi calling that the watch started to work as well.

Here are the steps:
-ran OS updates
-updated carrier settings
-turned on wifi calling device for iPad on phone
-under FaceTime settings on iPad 'upgraded' to NumberSync (took a few tries, didn't do anything when tapping the first few times).
-received prompt to enter code sent to phone to activate
-entered code and received confirmation saying that it would be available in a few minutes
-10-15 minutes later received confirmation NumberSync was now active.

At this point I tried putting phone into AirPlay mode and calling from watch, which was a no go. Tried iPad, no go.

-turned off airplane mode on phone

I then tried on the iPad selecting a phone number from a Contacts. Success on iPad, call went thru "using iPhone".

-put phone back into airplane mode

Then tried calling from watch, first two attempts "Call Failed". On the third attempt, it finally worked.

Not sure if setting up the iPad, which required a convoluted 'upgrade' procedure with AT&T for NumberSync, with a texted code to activate, kicked started the process for the watch, or if it just started working after a while on its own.

Like all antiquated phone service stuff, seems like a very convoluted procedure for something that basically FaceTime just does. I don't quite understand the 'upgrade' language, there didn't seem to be any new contract terms or any charges to authorize. Usually when AT&T uses the word 'upgrade' regarding a feature, I get an accute pain on my left upper thigh, right in the pocket/wallet area. So I'll have to check my account later to see if I'm getting charged for the privaledge of using my own bandwidth to handle their infastructure.

Yes. I haven't heard anyone else mention it but it's been doing it for me since at least 9.2 beta 4. I just tested again and it works.

Must the Mac have a wifi card pr can it be connected straight to the router for wifi calling? I have a 2008 Mac Pro no wifi card.

Unfortunately, NumberSync stopped working for me. It worked on the 2nd beta, but not the last build.

same issue here while I have wifi calling enabled on my iPhone 6Plus when try to enable it on my iPad Pro it tells me it cannot be activated on my account to contact carrier so I contact AT&T and they are at a loss....

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, good to see you have it working. The features for wifi calling and Numbersync are free. You will see them as features on your account if not already, soon.

The phone setting for this is in Calls on other devices, just below the wifi calling setting. Activate the Numbersync feature on the phone first, then setup the iPad. Wifi calling will be needed for this, you have that part active but the next step is Numbersync.

I am still fed up that Apple have not addressed the issue with Health app and data not working on some iOS devices.

This has been going on for several builds and there are heaps of comments and complaints in the forums.

The only solution apple give is to give up your back up. Wipe your phone and start afresh. This simply is not good enough.

Had the same reaction, only to find out it doesn't work with my iPhone6S.
Hopefully, a temporary bug cause it still says ''Device not supported'' for me with my Canon DSRL. Or we might need to have a new camera adaptor like the one they released for the SD card reader.
Two adapters. Six iOS devices. Eight SD Cards. One error message.

Yeah. I was hopeful too but of course it still doesn't work. But at least now that it's "Officially Supported" then maybe the genius bar won't be so quick to excuse their way out of a solution.

I see text selection on web sites and forum text boxes still SUCKS TO HIGH HELL.

Thanks for nothing, Apple. iOS 6 kicked ass.

I think the USB camera kit allowed the iPad to connect to MIDI devices - does this mean we can connect MIDI keyboards to our phones? And play them in GarageBand etc.

This has already worked for some time (as long as the MIDI device doesnt require much power). I've used a very low power MIDI keyboard since iPhone 6 came out.
