anybody else here thinks FIND MY FRIENDS/iPhone app/feature will be stalkerish boyfriends looking for there girlfriends who might be cheating and vice versa
only good things might be finding a stolen phone or device and missing kids if the have an iphone

Pretty sure no one is concerned about that since Find My Friends has been a thing since at least iOS6. I use it to see if a friend is home before going over, or asking something that would require he be home to answer. It's quite nifty in my opinion.

So your frequent/recent contacts have been removed from the app switcher? You now have to go back to home screen and either pull down or swipe left to get to the new "Proactive" spotlight thing? That's disappointing. The whole point was you could access them from within an app.

With EVERY iOS update they add more UNDELETABLE (and for most people useless) APPS.

WITH EVERY UPDATE. Every single one.

Are they insane?

STOOOOOOOP!

thats the same thing i was thinking o_O

Email attachment...wooowwww finally
Amazing! After 9 releases. This is the one feature that switched me to Android. Unfortunately, it only works with iCloud and I'm a Dropbox user. I will definitely play with it on my iPad and see how well it works.

The notification center shows the battery percentage for the Apple Watch and for the iPhone. You can still see the iPhone percentage up top. That's a waste of space. How about a toggle that allows you just to add the Watch battery percentage.

It might very well change in future betas.

does it have clear all notifications? Oh God I dont know why Apple cant implement this simple thing !!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably not a feature they think would be useful to most typical users and/or perhaps not one they want to expose to avoid more of typical users accidentally using it here and there and basically losing their notifications unintentionally.

...

Is it so hard for Apple to allow us a permanent row of numbers on the default keyboard? There's tons of space on an iPad. It's details like this that are still condemning the iPad's metamorphosis into a true laptop replacement.

Try PadKeys. US-only for now and subject to the same limitations and bugs Apple grants all third-party keyboards, but does a reasonable job of balancing between including extras, making keys big enough to type easily, and not taking up a huge part of the screen.

I wish Apple would bring back the ability to copy image URL's in Safari. Often times I just want the URL to paste the image on a message board. I don't want to have to save it to my camera roll. That functionality existed in iOS 7. Why did they take it away?
Funny, I can still copy an image url in Safari. Hold down on image, select copy. Then paste into Safari's address bar and there's your URL.

I feel that Apple is taking baby steps in technology and giving us gerber with their fingers, while other companies are far more advanced in products and technology. This way apple keeps all their loyal fans wanting for the next "Big" thing.

Huh! Really, so what are those "advances", unless you are specific your comment is beyond pointless and veers into conspiracy land.

Can anybody running the beta confirm that it’s possible to search calendar entries in excess of a year in the past please?
This one probably the main reason I was considering a switch to Android.

So is yours. You could have said in reply to the OP that, ‘Apple have shown us this - or that’. I agree, they seem to be saying wow look at this, and you’re like "yeah it’s pretty but I’ve seen that on XY”.
The number of Super cool, super super, super bad superlatives made them sound like fools after a while.

Can somebody who has the beta tell me two things about ios9:

1) Can I manage my contact groups (i.e.: assign a contact to a group or remove a contact from one or more groups)?

2) Can I address an email to an entire group of contacts by typing that contact group name in the "To" (or "BCC") line?

Currently, these are two things that make me put down my iPad and turn to my iMac. Both seem like low hanging fruit that Apple has left on the tree for quite some time.

Ugh, I used the upper/lowercase keyboard on Android and hated it. The differing keys mess with my hit targeting. Maybe Apple figured out a way to make it less crappy.
I actually prefer this switching between lower and upper case on the keyboard because it makes it instantly much clearer whether shift is down or not.

And if that really messes with your ability to hit the keys, something is wrong with you motor skills. ;)

It is good to see they are focusing on often forgotten things like battery life as I think sometimes the important stuff gets lost amongst the 'bling' of new features. I particularly like the idea of the low power mode, as when you are at 20% with no hope of a charge for a while it never seems to last quite long enough!

this is a lot more of an 'enhancement' oriented release than the 'solidify and bug-fix' release that was rumored.

hope this still quiets the vocal minority with all their soul-crushing issues. you guys are frikken LOUD
I'm sure (hope) the bug fixes and solidifying will be done as well in the background. CAn't really expect to put bug squashing front and centre at a keynote right? ;)

Apple covered the major new features of iOS 9 during today's keynote event, introducing a more intelligent and proactive Siri, split-screen multitasking for the iPad, major performance enhancements, Transit directions in Maps, a new News app, and more, but there are hundreds of other minor improvements that went unmentioned.

We've gathered up a list of some of the more notable changes and hidden new features in iOS 9 that have not yet been mentioned, to give you a better idea of what we can expect to see when the new operating system is released in the fall..........

Im not a fan of this battery low power mode garbage - simply close applications when you've finished - not leave applications running.. If people cannot charge their phone overnight every night, then they should not have any device that uses a battery. Additionally, it says "batteries" when there is only one "battery" in the iPhone.

The default for the shift key should be the same as a real keyboard: lower case when shift is off – and there's no need to make the letters themselves lowercase. So the shift key should have a white background for lower case, and grey for upper case. This may sound counter-intuitive (because it doesn't match the appearance of the keys) but it is why the shift key will continue be confusing. Changing the appearance of individual letters could cause visual distraction. Better to have a white key with no (or very faint) icon for lower case, grey with up arrow for upper case, and up arrow with line for shift lock.

This is exciting. Some really great little tweaks here! Loving the lowercase letters on the keyboard that disambiguate the Shift situation as well as the ability to disable "Shake to Undo", which has been the most annoying user-interface method of all time.

In all fairness, Shake to Undo is pretty useful if you, say, accidentally delete a whole paragraph of an important essay because you were trying to change the font and accidentally pressed the delete key (this happened to me). I'm not sure what I would have done without Shake to Undo.
