iOS Interface Depicted on a Hypothetical 2.5-Inch iWatch Screen

Wow. Wow! This is why MacRumors is now a secondary site I occasionally visit for Apple news. Its sad, really, because I used to visit this site way more often a few years ago. Now it's 1-2 decent posts + 10 fluff/BS/clickbait posts daily.

in the same way that ios devices demanded an interface that wasn't osx, i believe this watch demands something unique to its form and function

are we to have any level of serious discussion of what a 2.5" screen looks on a wrist after seeing that picture? lol!!!!

1746673 remember this number. it will live in infamy!

Great click bait MR. It got my response.

Suggestions;

1. Have a an artist with professional skills do possible iWatch mock ups instead of posting what some amateur put on Twitter a year ago.

2. A 2.5 inch screen can have different aspect ratios.
For instance the Samsung Gear Fit has a very long screen design.

The Fit has a 1.84 inch screen. This type of screen could be stretched a bit more to 2.5 inches.

And that could be closer in shape to what Apple has in mind

Well I literally laughed out loud as well when I saw this mockup.

If we are lucky maybe we can get a photo of this mockup alongside a Galaxy Gear for size comparison :D

Over the last few months we've seen plenty of concept mockups from artists with professional skills.

They are much prettier. They all stink.

Does it matter? A professional artist have no more clue what a finished product will look like. At least with this, it's clear from the onset that it's not in any way close to a finished product.

And a paper mock up allows you to test that out in 5 minutes.

Ugh

New form factor, means new UI guys. Sticking a UI built for touch screen on a phone onto a watch, is very un-Apple. Yes, they just stretched the iPhone UI to make the iPad UI. And everyone knows that wasn't a fantastic solution. But I doubt we will see anything like this on an iWatch.

My God, you guys are so condisending about this, yes the crude concept is silly looking, but it does give a good idea of what the screen size might look like in a typical wrist. The OS mockups look quite good to me, it looks consistent with the iOS experience, even implementing some CarPlay design! That's a believable concept! I like that this is a OS only concept too. The speculation over what the iWatch will look like is so overcrowded. Almost always the design concepts prove to be completely off, so I'm never particularly interested in them. I will say the the dribble concept looks fantastic, truly like nothing on the market.
