I hate to keep pushing this, but anyone who hasn't seen webOS notifications needs to YouTube it. I don't have an agenda, but settling for an inferior notification system on the basis of ignorance isn't a valid excuse.

and what are the options to avoid "Settling" other then switching to WebOS?

i think that Apple should be worried about webOS: is sleek and easy to use interface open standards. Is a no-brainer that the mind behind webOS was an ex-Apple engineer, a good one. notifications are just one aspect of this OS that is cool.
I think also that Apple just cares about the business now (even with iCloud free), closing the business to itself and its developers so, don't expect to see many inovations directed to the plataform ease-to-use, expect inovations that are directly related with the business rules: even if those inovations are APIs for developers, remember that devs are giving away 30% of their sales to Apple.

Agreed. I'm a massive fan of Web OS. If only iOS and Web OS would get together and have a love child haha. But yeah if Apple was going to copy any notification it really should have been Web OS.

After using a test Veer for awhile, I have grown to hate the WebOS notifications. It makes the rest of the screen way too small. To me, its just as intrusive as the old iPhone notifications.

While not perfect, I like Apple's new system. Hopefully they can clean it up a bit over the next few beta's.

That does look like a nice way of doing it, nice animation. I still think it would look better flicking it up though, into the Notification Centre. Seems to make more sense visually.

Agreed. I've been naturally wanting to flick notifications up into the Notification Center with my thumb.

Not to mention the ease of developing for webOS. If they were ever to come out with a normal phone (what's their problem?), I think it could be a real contender. I've developed some apps for lots of platforms, and webOS is by far the easiest. Pretty much anyone who can build a webpage can make an app in webOS.
