Rogelio, that doesn't accurately show the advances being made on Android. That shows a custom ROM that has been built by some hobbyists on a forum to experiment with the UI. Most people don't use what you showed there. In fact, 99.9% of Android users don't use what you showed there.

Thank goodness. No one would hire a Designer that developed that garbage for an iOS job.

Design of apps != design of OS.

LOL that guys has gone so far off base he's now talking about apps equaling OS. I will leave the poor dude alone.

again my point was to show the capabilities and advances that are made on Android. The fact that you can have an tablet mode UI on your phone and make it work is very impressive, especially it being done by some random developer.

So... What is innovative now with iOS devices that make them "magical?"

I'm still waiting for that answer. I've asked it maybe 4 times now and that poster keeps beating around the question. Obviously he has no answer.

True and lets not forget that 70% of Android users are still using Droid 2.3. Oops! What is even more sad is carriers are still selling phones with Droid 2.3.

And yet... 2.3 has more features than iOS 6... Things that make you go hmm.

Turn by turn... Check
Facebook and twitter integration... Check
Enhanced maps... Check
Shared photo stream... Check
Google wallet, aka passbook... Check
Google's own face time Google Talk, now Google+... Check
Dnd message... Check

Should I go on?

Again, all of these are already on Android 2.3 gingerbread.

Did you hear about that MAJOR feature where you can integrate your whole iOS to that lovely privacy-respecting company known as Facebook?

Yeah. How's that for magical? Doesn't get any magicaler than that.

Well... The fact no one replied without sarcasm (which I loved btw) and have a legitimate argument shows that iOS 6 is not innovative. Everything on iOS 6 can be found on gingerbread let alone ICS.

I guess the great argument is...what's better: he who does it first or he who does it best?

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here.

Yep. And the argument is compounded by the fact that they do many of the things differently.

Android had copy and paste first. Of course, it didn't actually work across the OS until more than a year after the iPhone added it. And the iPhone's implementation was almost universally preferred.

A Ford Model T had 4 wheels before a Bugatti Veyron. Which means the Veyron is just playing catchup and the Model T is better.

See what I did there?

Apple's slogan

"dont be innovative and push the envelope, what are we a technology company?"

Let's build technology with 2 year old technology that way we are sure it will "just work" and people will talk about how great our products are and how well it works.

If you're running 2 year old features you better damn well make sure your phone was running good. It'd be a damn shame if it wasn't

The Model T set the standard. The model T is in history books, 100 years from now the Model T will still be the MOdel T......the veyron wil be.....forgotten, just another fancy car of many.

Considering the fact that Android is an OS and not a single device, this comment makes absolutely no sense. Furthermore, if you want to point to irrelevant information, I'll direct you to this article.

Which is why I said "vendor" which encompasses hardware manufacturers. Nice link but like most stuff it points to Android vs everyone else in smartphone numbers which helps Android who's tablet initiative is largely stillborn and makes Apple's numbers look worse because iPod Touch and iPad sales may not be accounted for.

I'll make this easy for everyone here. Apple makes a ******** of money from iOS products. Call me when the competition is making some money. Until then money talks...******** walks.

Call me when apple breaks Samsung's Galaxy S 3 pre order record of 9 million.

See, I can play that game too. Apple fanboys are funny! :D

Er... what?

Smartphones powered by the Android and iOS mobile operating systems accounted for more than eight out of ten smartphones shipped in the first quarter of 2012 (1Q12). According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, the mobile operating systems held shares of 59.0% and 23.0% respectively of the 152.3 million smartphones shipped in 1Q12.

I find it interesting how after all of the discussion of Android vs. iOS features, you, out of nowhere, divert to "Well Apple makes tons of money!" Oy vey.

Because Apple's feature-set is strong.
Apple's influence is strong

When I have someone telling me something is underwhelming yet the sales are fantastic I've got a bone to pick with that.

In the end the only metric that really matters for a public company is revenue/profit.

If Apple's feature-set is underwhelming then people don't buy and revenue/profit goes down.

Shipment numbers mean little. You could ship a million phones at or around cost. Looks great for statistics but in the end companies are in business to make a profit unless they are a 501c3

No one is denying Apple's influence.

But how is Apple's feature-set strong, in relative terms to the competition? These Android vs iOS threads have easily shown how Android/WP7 have far more features. Thus, one can deduce that feature set is not directly coordinated to revenue/profit. Apple has a strong brand identity, a large following, and a good looking product.

The (or at least my) only complaint is the trickling of new features. Just look how long it took to get "multitasking" or a proper notification system.

Name 1 Android vendor that makes more money than Apple.

Go ahead....I'll wait.

Apple users have hit the bottom of the pit, at least you have. Now you're bragging about a companies money as if it's your own? How many of those BILLIONS do you get? I could give a rats ass about anybodies else's money but my own.

This has to be one of the most pathetic Apple fanboys i have come across. It's like you've lost all the arguments and you're left to resort to money. Is your middle name kardashian? Why else would you give a rats ass about other people's money.

Stay on topic....You still have named a feature iphone has produced that hadn't yet been done for. This was like 2 pages ago. Why can't you answer?
