Vancouver-Richmond Centre

Hey all, just wanted to report on the Vancouver iPad situation. As far as I can tell, stock at anything but an Apple Store is absolutely hit-or-miss. Go into a Best Buy or Future Shop and if you are in the right place at the right time, you may get AN iPad (not necessarily the one you were holding out for). I tried the Future Shop in Abbotsford, BC and they had just received a shipment. All the 64 gig models sold immediately. There were still a couple 32 gigs left, but I left them as I was going for the black 64 gig wifi. Other than that one store, all other non-Apple Stores were completely sold out and the employees either refused to say, or didn't know when any more (and which models) would be coming in.

I set my alarm last night for 9pm to check the online reservation system on Apple's site. Initially, I thought I had scored what I wanted from Oakridge Centre in Vancouver. But alas, in the time it took me to sign in with my Apple ID to when I clicked the proceed button afterwards, my iPad had already been snatched up by someone else. I thought I was S.O.L., but continued to scan and reload the stock info page for the various Vancouver Apple Stores. They seemed to be updated minute-by-minute after 9pm. Diligence paid off and eventually, about 20 mins later, I found exactly what I was looking for at the Richmond Centre location. Reserved, and received a confirmation email shortly after. Got up this morning, grabbed a Large Dbl Dbl, and leisurely drove in to Richmond. The store wasn't very busy, nor were there any line-ups to stand in or tickets to hold on to. Just walked up to the register, gave them my name, chose a Smart Cover and was out the door in about 10 mins. Extremely easy and laid back experience.

I would encourage anybody in Canada within a reasonable drive of an Apple Store to take advantage of the online reservation. Driving around from Best Buy to Future Shop in multiple towns/cities is just so aggravating and frustrating. Plus the lack of certainty in any of the big box stores' employees makes getting an honest answer about stock arrivals next to impossible.

Just syncing my new iPad 2 now and couldn't be happier with the experience.

Good luck to every one looking to get one this weekend!:)

i would be persistent with BBY and Futureshop. If you see some in stock at a store but they tell you when they get there you can't get one because they received a 'partial shipment' and can't sell any until the rest arrived, go to the cust. service desk or talk to a manager. that's how i got mine.

Some movement on the Canadian store orders?

Ordered Mar 25, 2011 at 01:11 AM PDT from apple.ca

My Ipad order just went to Prepared for Shipment. Shipping dates went to the 15th/19th.

(already got one from the on-line reservation but the GF's parents want this one.)

Edit: 32 gb black wifi model. No engraving.

Ordered 26-March from apple.ca
status still "not yet shipped " ...says will ship 25-Apr
64gig, 3G, black

Just checked the site (10:08PM EST) and the estimated dates have changed to 2-3 weeks. My order still says 'Not yet shipped'. I hope that it changes soon. I ordered the 16GB Wi-Fi black iPad 2.

I find it hard to believe that not one Apple store in ontario doesn't have one model of any description!!

Waiting for one of the Toronto apple stores to have the black 32gb 3G model in stock. Checked the online reservation system around 9pm but nada.

Is anyone having any luck with the on-line res system? Anyone? :)

Yes, ordered mine online on March 25 at 4 am. Then by luck got round to reserving mine at the Fairview Mall store in Toronto on March 30. Next day I had my 64GB Black 3G under my arm. Cancelled the online order half an hour later. Keep trying.....

Thought of doing the same thing. I want one for going away May 6th and thought of ordering on-line, but maybe too tight. Don't want it coming when I'm not here.

But getting one from a store would give me more time to get sorted.

[Montreal - Sainte-Catherine store ] Reserved it on first try March 31 at 9:01 PM. Picked-it up the next day. Cancelled my online order still 2 weeks from away from shipping at that time.

for anyone in calgary, I've checked 3 different times around 10pm mst and each time they have had a bunch of different models in stock... Reserved mine, walked into the store, out in 10 minutes.

Does Fedex deliver to residential areas on Sat? I noticed my tracking on Yahoo that it is been released for delivery. But if they don't I'm more than happy that it's coming on Monday.

Worked for me. I checked the online stock at 21h02, reserved my Ipad2, got an email confirmation, showed up at the store at the time mentioned in the email, they asked my name, looked up a list, someone went in the back and came back with my iPad2.

For people in Halifax, Mac East in Dartmouth has some iPads in stock right now :) And they will put one on hold for you! The Halifax Mac Store has none but has a waiting list you can be added to, said it will take up to 4 weeks.

Not yet shipped!

I ordered my white 32 GB WiFi/3G April 4 (when the Apple online store indicated available in 2-3 weeks) and until yesterday the ship date was April 25 (3 weeks from order date) and a delivery date of April 28. The delivery date has now changed to May 2, 4 weeks after ordering.

Finally! Just got my shipping notice this morning. Last FedEx update indicates it "left FedEx origin facility" at 12:21pm today (Shenzhen, China time). The delivery date is back to April 28
