iPad 2 from J&R - NO TAX, FREE SHIPPING

wow, #526 in line? :eek:

i too ordered the white 16gb wifi...but couldn't get from my salesperson what # i am, however i did order a full week before you did.

When i ordered I heard that they were to receive a shipment around the 24th (today) but apparently its been pushed back to next week. Hopefully there's enough in that shipment...

Last week, some people posted that they were getting their J&R orders shipped but it seems to have dried up this week. I wonder why J&R's shipment got pushed back while it seems like Abt, Target, B&H, etc. are getting steady (albeit) small shipments.
 
I just called J&R this morning and one of the customer service reps tells me they're getting shipment in early April. Now, I think they are just making up stuff. They don't really know when they'll be getting the next shipment. You see, when I called in about a week ago and then emailed the Mac rep, Jacques, he said they were getting shipment in on March 24th (yesterday). My order is still listed as "Backordered". I'm setting expectations that I won't be receiving my iPad 2 until the latter half of April.
 
Called customer service this afternoon and said they were expecting a shipment today...

as to how many and what models, the rep didn't/couldn't say.
 
Delays due to EQ/Tsunami in Japan

Just an FYI, I had called today and asked, and was told that they keep getting small shipments, but they were told to expect delays in receiving stock due to the issues faced by Japan post earthquake and tsunami.

I'm not sure if I can really rely on what I was told, but they don't seem confident in being able to fulfill my order with any immediacy. My order was placed later (on 3/21).

I ordered a 64GB ATT Black on 3/23. I was told it would ship end of this month. Doubt it but I'm not in a rush.

I was also told the same thing today.

This is complete B.S. as the Japan earthquake isn't affecting current production and shipping. Apple stores and resellers everywhere have been getting shipments increasingly (Apple even adding Radio Shack to the list) and they have expanded worldwide last Friday because Apple has enough supply. B&H has already shipped to those on their pre-order list (for my same model) who placed orders a week AFTER I did to J&R. Even if the Japan earthquake affected production, Apple still has enough in the production chain to ship to the US for weeks.

J&R is just using the earthquake as an excuse, which is extremely deplorable.

I've given up on hoping to receive my order from J&R soon and will continue my hunt elsewhere...

Whether or not J&R's excuse is legitimate or not, your claims are as much speculation (if not more so) than others in the know. It's unlikely to affect shipping from China but parts availability can be a problem and it could take time for that to have an actual effect on production, if it hasn't already.

There have been reports of power shortages and TEPCO still might implement rolling blackouts (http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/press/corp-com/release/11032306-e.html and http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/press/corp-com/release/11032808-e.html) which is not good for production.

About the only people who would really know are Apple execs who need to know, their supply chain management folks and companies like Hon Hai aka Foxconn.

So did their prediction pan out? Did they get any shipment in? I'm suspecting they didn't. Maybe they're just guessing?

I'm wondering...don't they get tracking numbers for the caselots of iPad 2's that they get shipped to their stores?

Me too. This is my 2nd back ordered status automated email from them for this order. I received one earlier last week or some 10 days ago, I think.

I've been tempted to place an order from B&H and whoever ships first, I'll call the other company and cancel the order. But that could be risky, getting two ipad 2 that I don't want, if they happen to suddenly ship the same day.

Wondering, can we return any brand new iPad 2 to any Apple Store even if we don't buy it from Apple retail store?
 
i just cancelled my two 64gb att black ones from J&R since my macmall ones shipped this AM. so that should move people up the list for a couple..

Lucky you!

Though I'm tempted to call around (again) to see who would have the 32GB AT&T version in stock, I think I'll let that desire go. My only hope is to have the iPad 2 in hand 1 week before I travel to Canada in the middle of May.

Yeah I ordered from both B&H and J&R and plan on calling. I thought about the risk of getting 2 but thought it was unlikely.

I think I'm going to go ahead and cancel the B&H since they charged my card for the order... I want my money in my bank... not theirs! :)

Easy solution for that.... if they both ship, just refuse one of the shipments. I've never had a problem getting a refund for a refused shipment. At most they may try and charge you for the shipping costs.

You can usually call the shipper (UPS/FedEx) and have then turn the package around mid-shipment.

I looked at MacMall and they DON'T have any ipad 2 32GB AT&T black version. I'm willing to even look at the 64GB version but they didn't have it in stock.

I don't mind what iPad 2 it is as long as it's black, AT&T 3G, and 32GB or above. LOL

my wifi ipad2 just shipped from B&H. the J&R one is on backorder. apple store is still on backorder. all local stores in manhattan are out of stock.
shipped to NJ to avoid high taxes

i ordered mine from frys to avoid tax in NY but im still waiting. The wait lines are short, theres only 8 for a 32gb white... yesterday was 13, so they shipped 5 out yesterday night. however they receive fewer shipments with less quantity :( so frustrating.
 
Just spoke with J&R..I have an order from 22-Mar for 64G WiFI..He said they are expecting a large shipment apr 1st (i hope this is not a april fool :))...
