I was told MacConnection is expecting a large shipment on Friday as well. That is one of my orders and I think this j&r order may be cancelled.

Maybe that is when everything will catch up and all 5 of my orders will ship.

You do know that you'll have to report the tax on your 2011 state tax return, right? So either way, you will have to pay.

Unless you work for the Obama administration. It seems to be a requirement to not pay your taxes to work for them.

Hey, whenever anyone gets more news about J&R and their iPad 2 shipments, please post here! I check my order everyday and yeah...still backordered.

Here's one thing I noticed though about the iPad 2 on J&R website:
• iPad 2 16gb white
• iPad 2 64gb white
• ipad 2 32gb white
• ipad 2 16gb black
• ipad 2 64gb black verizon
are all categorised as "On Order"
(see URL: http://www.jr.com/category/computers/notebooks-and-tablets/n/4294028126/ )

while the rest are all categorised as "Coming Soon"

According to J&R, "Coming Soon" means "new item; waiting for our first shipment from the manufacturer" and
"On Order" means "This item is on order from the manufacturer and we expect to receive it in shortly"

It seems to me then it means that for some iPad 2 versions, J&R has never received stock while for a select few versions, they've had them previously.

I ordered a 64gb black wifi from J&R on March 18th and was told it would ship on the 31st, perhaps earlier. A couple of days ago I got the dreaded backorder notice. I canceled online but they left me a voice mail asking me to wait until April Fools Day as they were expecting a shipment. Today I spoke with the rep and told him I would wait but he has no idea what is actually coming in on Friday. We are a three iPad family and I actually got one at the Apple Store last week and have one that is supposed to ship from AAFES next week so I won't hesitate to cancel on Friday if they don't ship.

Ah...I see they are desperate to keep their customers. Let's hope they do ship our orders on April 1.

Here's what I've been thinking about: can we ask J&R to strike us a deal (say $10 off the smart cover) so that we stay with our orders other we'll order from B&H or Apple online? 🙂 Surely they can throw in some perks for staying with them so long, no? ;-)

I remember when I talked to Jacques on March 9th when I ordered my iPad 2, he said they're bound to be shipping out my order on March 11th. Jacques is the Apple customer specialist.

They told me the same thing when I placed an order on the 22nd, I cancelled the order yesterday and placed one with B&H, My Ipad arrived in CA this evening, gonna be delivered tomorrow!

Well, J&R only got four today. They have six more coming in on April 6th. They have 106 preorders. Hard to say what happened to the big order "scheduled" for March 30th. I asked how many were ahead of me on the list but haven't had a response.

I have shopped with them for years and have always been satisfied until now.

I spoke with them. The list for 64 gb black is now at 110, 64gb white at 68. They can't or won't tell me where I am on the "black list" which is quite maddening.

Four??? Today was supposed to be their big shipment! Well, I learned not to put too much belief into things you read on the forums, so I can't say I'm too disappointed. I'm going to hang in there with my order for a Black ATT 64GB placed on 3/23. If enough people get frustrated with J&R and cancel their orders perhaps I'll see mine before the end of April. 😉

The funny thing is that when I called in my order I thought I was calling B&H, I wrote down the number on a post-it before i left work and called from my car on the way home.

I just got a shipment notice this afternoon with a tracking number. UPS still doesn't have the shipping info in their system, that usually takes a few hours, so hoping not some April Fools joke though there is some hope for others waiting I guess.

Yea, I am going to the Apple store tomorrow at 6 am and getting one. F* JR.com. Customer service are aways sulky and seem to hate their job. They blame it on apple....but they make promises they know they cannot keep (I was told that I should get the Ipad by the end of March). I called today and was told it would be another 1-2 weeks before they could ship but they cannot guarantee; funny how most other resellers have been getting pretty decent shipments but not JR. Obviously, there is a problem and I have no intention to wait 2+ weeks on JR. Going to the Apple store early and getting this thing over with! Will cancel the order as soon as I buy one from Apple.

When I ordered a 64GB Black AT&T model yesterday they said there were about 170 people in front of me for that model. I have a Apple store order in also that won't ship till April 21st, (Ordered March 17th) so we will see what comes first.

I was about to call them. I ordered a 32GB AT&T Black on March 9th. It's almost a month now! I haven't yet found J&R to be reliable in their predictions of shipment but I thought that possible today they might have some news because a) Apple's online stores throughout the world is giving a 2-3 weeks for shipping iPad 2, and
b) on J&R website, my particular iPad 2 model is being listed as "On order from manufacturer" from a previous status of "Coming Soon." Where did you order from? If you did so from J&R, you will be waiting a while. I've been following this thread (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2752593) and even those who ordered about 3 weeks ago have yet to hear any update. If possible, cancel from J&R and go with B&H. They seem to be getting stock regularly and are fulfilling most of their orders. Good luck!

I canceled my JR order last week and put one in at MacMall for a 64 gig ATT in black on the 29th. Received it yesterday (4/4). Free overnight shipping too on the ipad and any additional items I put in the order, including the Marware case (i think because I bought the apple care with it).

You guys may want to call MacMall and see what their status in on stock because it may be worth switching over to them too. I will say, however, that J&R customer service was friendly and helpful. But that doesn't get me the ipad fast enough...
