I ordered a 32GB wifi black from B&H as soon as they opened on Sun. morning (10AM) before the OP started this topic.
At the time of my order, the salesperson told me that the iPad will ship on Mon or Tue... now, 4 days later, my order still says 'Backordered'... any yes, they did charge my credit card right away.
I called B&H customer service who said that he doesnt know why some users on this forum got their iPads already even though their orders were placed after mine...
He also couldnt give me any info as to when more iPads will be available and stated that the Salesperson shouldnt have promised me the date of shipment that he did.
So, this afternoon I called J&R and the salesperson there was able to give me exact numbers - he said they have a little more than 200 32GB WiFi black iPads arriving on or about 3/28/11 and already have a little over 100 pre-orders.
I placed an order with J&R and will see which comes first. J&R also doesnt charge sales tax to orders out of NY and also offered free shipping. They did not charge my card and will only do so once the order ships.
Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed...

funny, when i called them this wednesday, the sales rep said he has no idea when the next shipment comes in and won't tell me anything about when the order will be filled. that was why i didn't order through them.
Ok, I finally got a shipping email confirmation from B&H. Thanks to you guys for updating so quickly now I can stop worrying about one and just relax. I didn't opt for expedite shipping so I'll get it by next weekend here in California.

+1 I'm not sure whether I should get a case or just get something like zagg or ghost armor, keep in mind I ordered a smart cover aside from a possible skin or case.

Got the shipping confirmation on the White 64GB Verizon Wi-Fi + 3G model I ordered today (after canceling the Black 64GB Wi-Fi Only model I put on back order Sunday). I have to say I'm very impressed at the extremely quick processing of my order (once I finally found a model I liked that was actually in stock!)

I just called J&R and CR said any model will take 3 weeks to ship. I have already placed order with Apple [ships 19 Apr 
] and B&H [they can't confirm when will it ship ]. What do you think, should I cancel B&H order and place one with J&R?

I also ordered the White 64GBVerizon about 10:30 this morning. Their order tracking just says "in stock, order sent to warehouse." I ordered on the phone and they told me it would ship either today or Monday. Does anyone know if their warehouse is the same place as their store? I'm in the Philly area, so usually from NY or NJ to Phila. takes only a day or two to arrive, even with standard UPS.
My gut says they'll both get their shipment at the same time. According to a JR rep-Thursday.

They get stock in the mornings and afternoons. I'm ASSUMING that they get a UPS or Fed Ex shipment by 10am like most stores do. They MIGHT get another shipment late afternoon as well.

BH Photo is best know for their great pricing on photography and video equipment. Almost every person who frequent photography websites know about BH Photo and they are 100% responsible for many domestic arguments over how much $$$$ is being spent on camera and lenses. Many of my photog friends speak about visiting the acutal BH Photo store in New York and compare it to visiting a holy site
Rude people on the phone in NYC? Really? LOL. I've gotten all kinds when ordering from them over the years. I just chalk it up to stereotypical NYC behavior. But they've always come through on my orders and their return policy is 15 days from date of receipt for those who didn't know.

They showed stock on a 16gig Verizon version but you could not order it online. You had to call in. I did not, I want a wifi only version but when I refreshed the page a few minutes later it was gone.
That's why I added FWIW (For what it's worth). I will be pleasantly surprised if they actually do ship mine out next week. I don't believe the CSR had any actual info on when they were coming in, but I could be wrong. I do believe you have a much better chance getting one sooner if you order a Verizon model.

I ordered a 16GB black Wi-Fi last Sunday and still have a "backordered" status! It is absolutely frustrating and am convinced something is wrong with my order as many others here have already received theirs. Anyone in my shoes?
I was, called them to figure out what was going on and they said that there was nothing wrong with m order and that I was next on the list
. Luckily I pre-ordered from two other places Sunday (one shipped on Friday!) so i'm gonna have to cancel the B&H order.
