What's so confusing about this? Shipments come in, unannounced and with no prior information as to what models or quantities are in the shipment. Is it really that difficult to understand how to two statements match?




Standard procedure for B&H. Has been for years. hey charge at order and are very up front about doing so. Every time I've seen a new Canon or Nikon camera release, people whine like about having been charged but their item hasn't shipped -- and then those people often get their item earlier than others since B&H has typically been among the fastest ways to get high demand models.



B&H is as reputable as they come. I have no connection other than having been a customer for many years. I've never been less than 100% satisfied with any interaction.

B&H is not reputable go check the last post from Henry Posner he just told us he don't know when they going to get another ships and when i send a mail to him he just say we are getting ships almost every single day.

He comes here to just say do not send me mails regarding you situation about your iPad WTF! i just pay for it and your company charge me all the money.

And they can't tell us where i am on the list... but they can take out your money the same day.
 
If you are upset, then cancel your order and get an iPad 2 from someone else. You do realize that no one coerced you into ordering from B&H Photo, right? Well, the same freedom that allowed you to buy from them is the same freedom that allows you to cancel your order.

As far as the timing is concerned (ships this week or in 3 months), I think your impatience is caused by the fact that you are probably refreshing your "Order Status" about once a minute. Just relax. In fact, don't hang out on these boards because that will just cause even more impatience. Simply cancel your order and go somewhere else. Or wait. Either way, your circumstances will stay the same.
 
here's the problem. B&H has been telling potential customers that if they ordered iPad 2 today, they will be able to ship one to their address in a few days. Go back through this forum...countless of people have said this.

The truth?

1) They don't know when shipments come in
2) Shipments that do come in are given to those who ordered first.
3) Then you have the issue of different iPad models.


I still don't know why B&H is quoting any availability times to potential customers.

B&H of course charges your card when you place your order on top of it all.

It's not right.

What B&H should have been saying is...iPad 2 is currently backordered but we do have a waiting list. We will be filling orders as shipments come in. We can not provide you with a wait time.

You then have people coming on here saying they got their iPad, yet you dont know what version, when they ordered, how they ordered. This thread is one big cluster mess.

Now you have B&H representatives coming on here trying to do a little PR. ECK.

If I had to bet, if you order iPad 2 from B&H today, you probably will receive it in the same time as ordering one from apple.com.

J&R gives you where you are in the list and don't charges you CC until they ships.
How you feel about that? If you work from B&H or some relatives go to another place and don't tell me what to do.

However, you could cancel your order, get your $1000 back, and perhaps you could "make more money in the stock business". This is America baby. You have the freedom to do what you want with you money! So get it back and make some money in the "stock business". ;)

iLuis has a point. He was directly quoted a few days wait by a B&H sales rep. Many other people on this thread said the same thing. Credit card is then charged at point of order, while many other sites dont officially charge credit card until product is shipped. Now i dont know, if these credit card funds are in limbo until shipment.

My problem is B&H sales reps were lying to people, when they said your iPad 2 should ship in 2 days. You call back and someone else says, oh we have no clue when your particular order will ship.

I don't think its fair for others to come on here and tell people like iLuis that he is the wrong here. If you are quoted a shipping date (before ordering), its safe to assume, you went ahead and placed your order because of that quoted shipping time.

Now we have the ManicApple and he just tell us that we can just cancel our order. :D

I hope one day you can get a position in B&H.

iOrlando - They told me that in two days. Now I'm waiting without my money i can cancel is true but i need to wait up to five BUSINESS days that's means another week.
When i call they only say "sorry" you can cancel anytime. BUT I NEED TO WAIT ANOTHER WEEK FOR GET MY OWN MONEY.
If they told me i don't know when... I NEVER PLACE MY ORDER!

Try this thought experiment and tell me the answer. You know that Fedex will deliver you a shipment of stuff most days. You know that usually there are some marbles in that shipment, but until you get it you have no idea of how many marbles you'll get nor how many of them are Red, how many are Yellow, or how many are Blue. You have 300 orders for Blue marbles in queue.

Tell me: When will you be able to ship the 301st Blue marble? This week? Next week? The week after? Please support your ship date estimate from the information above.

Read all the thread :) I'm here for the last three weeks is true but i don't born the last month. Why you don't read all the thread? Now B&H are sending they workers here.

Go check comments for people that been here for 3 years they are saying the same, i know i can cancel but i need to wait 5 BUSINESS days more then a week. (Today is tuesday I'm getting my money the next monday.)

We don't need B&H fans or workers on here.

I'm just saying I have a lot more faith in a company I've dealt with for years and an individual I've seen on forums handling customer service issues also for years. (Henry is not new to this)

Are you truly suggesting that discussion is not welcome, and only people who agree with your complaints can post?

Since my example above has you stumped, let's say there are 100 orders for Red, 200 orders for Yellow, and 301 orders for Blue. You know you'll get some on most days, but have no idea how many of each color. I'm #301 in queue for the Blue marble. When I ask when it will ship to me, your answer is what?

Telling your customers that there are shipments showing up regularly informs them that progress is being made. Telling them that you have no idea how many of what kind you'll get in any shipment explains why you cannot predict when any particular order will ship, even though you're getting units in and fulfilling orders.

What part of this do you not comprehend?
 
Just finished a chat session (very short) with B&H rep. Note the status of "No Date Available". That seems like a change of position?

Me: Wanting to see if you received any new shipments today of the IPad 2?

Ben W: Sorry, I have not heard we received any of these. We currently list them as "No Date Available".
 
I think its pretty amazing that B&H doesn't know, or is claiming not to know, when they are getting more. How do you not know what's coming into your own warehouse? I can buy not knowing the specific amount you're getting, or which types, but not knowing of incoming shipments? Seems extremely unlikely.

We get assurances and promises and emails and then we get a truck with a box on it. Sometimes the amount in the box matches all prior assurances and sometimes it turns out a prior assurance was optimistic. I'd rather honestly say I am not 1000% certain than say, "We're getting 40 and you're number 38 so all's well," and then, when we get 37, I'm a jerk.

Our buyer is a smart fellow and he opens the product for orders based on what he's confident we'll get, but confidence is not absolute certainty and that's why I'm reluctant to make promises.

However, B&H has proven to be a respectable dealer in the past, greatly aiding myself and my colleagues in our work (film production), so I'll stick with them. Hopefully something comes in for me this week. WiFi White 64GB come on!

Thank you. B&H has been around since the 1970's and our honesty is one thing we're proud of and protective of and no one here would purposely jeopardize that for any reason, least of all one sale of one iPad.

Anyone who ordered an AT&T should know it's gonna be a long wait. That's what I'm waiting on. Doesn't matter who you buy from, it's gonna be a while.

Folks, B&H is as reputable a place as exists. It's frustrating, because you want your ipad now, and they charged you already, but you knew that going in. Hold your horses, and you'll get it as soon as possible. Keep looking elsewhere, and if you find one, cancel this order, but in the mean time, know that B&H isn't gonna rip you off, and they're not lying to you.

I say that not as someone who has any financial ties to B&H but rather as someone who's been buying camera and sound gear from them for a LONG time.

Been here 9 years and I stand by B&H. Did some of their statements turn out to be in accurate? Yes. Why? It is a high demand product and absolutely no one has any solid information and everyone who says anything is ultimately wrong in same way.

You are distorting the truth, even making up things he did not say (he said 'almost every day', you go on to change this to 'every day' to suit your needs). If anyone is a liar it is you, and you are doing it to make an honest guy trying to help look bad. Shame on you.

My experience with their unexpected 'Sunday after sale' was excellent. Got my Wifi iPad 2 exactly when they said. And they used lots of peanuts! Not the greenest kind but my item was well packed.

First of all, master the english language and the rules of grammar before polluting this thread with your vitriol any further. He said ALMOST daily and you keep saying he said "every day". Therefore you are twisting the statement to fit your needs. Cancel your order and move on. Bitching in this thread isn't going to get you anywhere. Insulting the man who works at B&H is really going to help you get your product faster right? :rolleyes: Dumb.

Oh and you're not going to sway anyone in here. Some of us have dealt with B&H for many years and just because this iPad 2 launch is a mess, mostly at the fault of Apple, doesn't mean we're going to ditch B&H. They're great and like I said earlier, have helped me do my job better. You're unhappy, I get it, but troll elsewhere.
 
Just a thought. If Apples stores don't even know what they are getting everyday, how does one expect another retailer to know that information?

A friend of mine who works for Best Buy showed me their order list of their ipads for various stores and it showed at least 20 of each type. However, what do they actually get? Maybe a third of each order. Same deal with Target and Walmart. They may have 20-100 on order, but they are only getting 2-5 each day, if they even get one. Everyone including each Apple Store is being shorted...that's common knowledge by now.

Some people get in line every morning at the Apple Store at 7am and hope that the iPad2 they got came in the night before. Some people paid $100 to Best Buy to reserve their ipad2 when it comes in stock. Some people used B&H's "notify me when stock is available" email feature and call immediately to order. Some other people gamble on Target hoping that they will be able to snag the 1-5 that appear randomly during the week.

The point remains that no retailer knows what they are getting...not even the Apple Stores.

As far as I understand it, B&H is still fulfilling their orders based on when they were placed. If you don't like their practice of charging when you ordered, then cancel your order and go somewhere else like everyone says. I can tell you from personal experience that if you paid by credit card, it doesn't take 5 days to process the cancellation. Heck, you can even PM Henry to expedite things if that's your concern. Most retailers never bother to come onto forums to post and I'm just glad B&H even showed up.
 
I ordered a white iPad 2 16GB wifi one on the 14th along with cover for my fiancee and they promised it would ship on that week. Well it didn't and they charged my card. Now I wouldn't mind them charging my card if they actually shipped as promised, but keeping my money while not following through is unacceptable. If B&H is unsure of when it will get iPads in stock, then B&H shouldn't charge us when we order; they should charge when they SHIP.

Anyways, I canceled the order with B&H and grabbed one at a Target. I will not deal with B&H for preorders again.

BUT YOU KNEW THIS WHEN YOU WENT IN! They said we're charging you at the time of order placement. Not when it ships. You decided to place the order anyway. Your fault. B&H has always done this, if you disagreed with their business decision you should have went elsewhere from the beginning.

P.S Congrats on finding an iPad 2 elsewhere.
 
when i was on the phone with their customer service department, i asked for faster shipping, and the guy, who was very nice, said that it would get to me in 2 days if i pay an extra 12$, and he did mention that it would be 2days when they process my order....maybe they were talking about shipping time?
