Yeah? You think people posting on an Apple products forum might be biased toward Apple? What was your first clue?

Go post on Asus Rumors. Oh wait, not much traffic there, right?

I'm sure some Android tablets are quite nice in hardware specs, and will eventually run an OS that is just as smooth as iOS, and one day will have thousands of apps that are optimized for the tablet format. But quit coming here and trying to convince everyone to switch. Have more confidence in your own choices without trying to convince others to follow you.

I'm sorry, but why do you think I'm trying to make you switch? I bought and use all the devices I talk about. Just sharing my observations. My iPad 2 is nice enough. No need to feel threatened. My Asus tablet was less expensive, has more and better hardware features, and is also nice enough. A reasonable choice. It is Apple that needs to pay attention, and I know they are. If you are truly happy with your iPad, feel free to ignore my posts. I am not yet offended.

The final part of my message wasn't directed at you (though that wasn't clear), but at the topic starter. I get tired of Android fans coming to this site to tell us how much better their stuff is than ours. Starting an "iPad Killer" or "iPhone Killer" topic indicates insecurity on their part.

Until Google comes out with an OS that isn't buggy and has more than 100 apps designed for it, the iPad will continue to dominate the market.

And there is no such thing as an iPad killer. Never will be.

Actually I counted and they have 75 apps designed for tablets.

Not everyone is. I have a lot of Apple products but am not biased towards them in particular. Rather I choose what I purchase based on my wants and needs. I'd MUCH rather have an open discussion about competing products I *may* want to consider purchasing. You can stick your head in the sand by just not following the thread, but my vote is that such discussion is great regardless if it's on an Apple forum or not.

Edit: Just read your follow up

I do agree, the title of the post was inflammatory. We should try and just discuss competing specs and such instead of being one sided like that.

You sure it wasn't 72? Those are just the featured tablet apps. Search for Honeycomb and the number I got was 502. Search for Tablet and found 4080. What does that mean? Not all are apps. Some are widgets and wallpaper (live and otherwise) sources. All have been tested and/or adapted to work on tablets. The wallpapers will be HD resolutions, etc..

Until developers get behind the Honeycomb OS, selection is going to be pretty pathetic. When your top apps are those created by Google themselves, you know that selection is pretty abysmal. There are lots of tablet apps, but they were designed pre-Honeycomb, and look horrible on any Honeycomb tablet screen.

Just hope that the Honeycomb OS catches on and they begin selling more tablets, otherwise developers will go where the money is...and that is iOS.

Anyone remind me again how Android is going to Kill the IPad? ;)

One thing is patently obvious...Android fans love abuse. Why would any sane person enter a Mac forum and try to rally the troops around the Android flagpole, (declaring yet another "killer" no less)? This is like trying to sell Red Sox shirts at a Yankees home game. Fuhgedaboutit.

Android fans, please learn this simple fact. You like Android gadgets. Fine. This is not an Android forum. This is an iOS forum on an Apple centric website. If you are so brazen/bored/desperate/insecure as to insist on discussing things non-Apple related on an Apple centric site, no one will stop you, but do not expect a red carpet or cheering, and certainly do not expect most, if any, people to agree with you.

That said, enjoy your Asus! You have well over 50 apps to choose from. If you want some music or movies, fire up AsusTunes on your computer. If you have any problems with your tablet, just head over to the Asus Store and make an appointment at the AsusBar. I'm sure an AsusGenius will straighten you right out.

When you buy an Android based product, you are buying a slab of specs. Weight, speed, pixels, thickness... When you buy an Apple product, you are buying all that, but you're also getting a ticket to a vast ecosystem that's years in the making. Android devices are all about what's inside the gadget...Apple's are about what's outside it too. Until the Android support and content networks mature, and the hardware makers do the same, there will be no iPad killer. So any time you want to stop calling your tablet of the week an "iPad killer" will be fine. All you're doing is making yourself and Android devices look dumb.

Having recently sold my iPad 64Gb Wifi, I'm in the market for a new tablet - and currently it's down to the iPad 2 64Gb, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Transformer.

I really like the iPad 2, the size and weight are nigh on perfect and as with the iPad 1, I'm sure "it just works".

However there's one issue I have with the iPad and that's storage. For me, 64Gb is not enough. On a recent 2 week vacation, I had my iPad loaded with movies and tv episodes for multiple flights and airport waits and I also used it for storing and uploading photos from my DSLR - including RAW images. At the end of the two weeks, I was having to delete stuff to reclaim some space and I was cursing my decision to leave the laptop at home.

With something like a transformer (not sure if the Tab 10.1 has an SD card slot or not), I then also have the option of storing data to removable media - something that simply cannot be overlooked.

It's a real shame - I like the design of the iPad 2, I am happy with IOS and the app selection is fantastic - the lack of expandability is it's only fault in my view.

I wonder though - could Apple introduce this capability into IOS5 via the camera connection kit? I guess the pertinent question is would they.. and knowing Apple's closed doors policy, probably not :(

The Samsung tab 10.1 doesn't have any extra card slots. The Transformers has a SD micro on the tablet and a SD on the keyboard dock.

Everyone is taking different shots at what consumers want. Acer's Iconia Tab has a full sized USB port on the side. Finding it VERY handy not to need an adapter cable. Asus has hinted at settling on it's dock port as a standard for several generation, ala Apple. The ACER has a very similar looking dock port. If the android tablet makers get together (hard to believe they will) and settle on an industry-wide standard port, the accessory makers will have no reason not to fill out their android-compatible product lines.

I don't get why people complain about the people who start these threads. Sure they're annoying with how much weight they put into other tablets and instantly call it an iPad killer without even using it yet (and then tell others not to knock it before trying it). It's not like they're coming here and saying "Hey guys, my asus tablet isn't working. What do?". They're comparing it to the iPad and including it in th discussion. If this forum was dedicated to just the iPad and nothing else, then all threads would consist of either backlight bleeding or iOS 5 speculation. And after Monday, JUST backlight bleeding. How boring.

With that said, I'll echo everyone else's comments and say specs and low price aren't everything. The user experience and third-party/company support is everything. You wouldn't buy a car that got 15 miles to the gallon, was slow to accelerate, had poor warranty guarantees and service, and had a limited and bad selection of additional accessories to enhance the use and abilities of the vehicle, even it did have 300+ HP, huge windows, and had a hitch on the back (that's a poor analogy for Flash support, sorry :( ) would you?

Perhaps you should consider getting the AirStash.

Can we set this somehow as an automated first reply to any thread with "killer" in the title?

I recall some yutz yammering away the Dell Insperon Duo was the next iPad killer. Must have worked for Mr Dell.

Android fans love abuse.

I'm sure nothing's more fun that trying to get the latest Android OS for a particular device less than a year after it came out.

Consider my iOS device is working just tickety boo when it comes to end of life I'll still have a working product not something that still feels like it's permanently stuck in beta.

On the negative side I wish Apple didn't upgrade the iPhone 3G to 4.x, that made it worse...

The Samsung 10.1 doesn't have the microSD slot, but the 3g version is rumored to have it, but we'll have to wait and see if that's the case. That's what I'm waiting for before I purchase, the 3g version.

What? After Monday there won't by any whining about what iOS 5 failed to do? Why not? I'm pretty sure whining about Apple failing constantly is obligatory.
