Honestly, what I want most is for the Home button to be illuminated in the dark.

It can be annoying to find when browsing in the dark.

This could be easily enough accomplished with having the front-facing camera detect ambient light levels.

Also, will it Launch alongside the release of Garage Band? Seems pretty intuitive, especially if the speaker design is true.

To each their own I guess. Do you really have trouble finding the home button while browsing (to quote)? I mean, maybe when grabbing for the iPad in the dark when it is turned off, but while it is on, screen illuminated, with the device already in hand? Truly a unique request for improvement to the iPad. Especially as a top priority.

That's the point, the USB port provided in the camera kit probably lacks power. It has no need because cameras use their own power source when connected to the computer.
<SNIP>

It does not lack power...

1. I connect a wired apple alum keyboard to it, and press to bypass the not supported popup - and the keyboard works (although not every key is mapped).

2. I have a livescribe pen. I submitted a review for the pencast player and asked when they would come up with a desktop for the ipad so we can sync our pens to the ipad. For kicks I plugged in a pen where the battery was dead. It had a little problem with the file structure, but after the message on the pen and proceeding past the "Device not supported" it started to charge the pen. I will admit I did not leave it on long enough to see how bad the power consumption would drain the battery.

3. Do not take this with any authority... But somewhere along the way, I remember seeing an article where someone jail broke theirs and plugged in a jump drive. Now, real external hard-drives that get power from USB may be a quick battery drainer.

I'm sorry, but a drawing app on the iPad is what a lot of folks have been asking for. And not something to finger paint with. If you don't see the potential, that's your prerogative. The iPad will remain a sort of toy/media consumption device until it gains extensibility that lets it stand on its own a bit. Right now, it's stuck in 2nd place to a desktop/laptop and at least for me, it's not even worth its cost. My MBA does everything and is just as portable.

a better more responsive stylus would do the trick. I have the pogo, but I do not like the tip on it. Wish it was more like a stylus I have on my lenovo (pointy like a real pen).

I have 218 apps. I can do everything my macbook can, except:

1. Heavy video editing.
2. Podcasting (I use garage band and cross fade stuff).
3. Mass storage 150 gb I need for all my data (music, photos, documents, movies) plus 32 gb for apps.

And with less bulk. Give me an ipad app that will do my podcasting and I will be a happy camper. If they add a real USB, would like to have an app to hook up an external CD/DVD drive to burn disks from - but that is of less importance.

One can probably do all of it on a graphic calculator too but why???? Why to suffer and use the device for something it is just unsuitable? Just get a Macbook and do it there. You'll save a lot of time (and time, as you know, is money)

I think they're all fake rumors to fool all of us. I have a hard time believing Apple would change their design so completely (tapered edges) from the original that was a BIG HIT. It would make more sense to keep the original design and add features to it.

I believe the attached picture most likely represents what iPad 2 will look like.

EU Regulations require Mini-USB* so there is a need if they wish to sell in the EU.

*At least they do for mobiles, whether it applies to the iPad I am unsure but I'd think it does due to 3G.

Yeah, only the 3G would be affected but I guess they would change both. Having said that, I don't know if this is really a "law" as such. It is pushed by the industry association GSMA, and the project timeline shows implementation to be complete in 2012, so this model doesn't need to comply.

BTW it is micro-USB, not mini-USB.

But the back of the iPad in the attached picture is way different to the current design, which you think they would keep?! BTW I like that mockup.

Serious question. I'm interested. What would you do with it?

Actually, wouldn't mind seeing them replacing their current proprietary 30-pin connector for MicroUSB on their devices. It'd be easier that way. Means I, or anyone else, wouldn't haft to look everywhere trying to find one cable just I can sync or charge an Apple device and instead use an exciting one I already have to do the same thing.

Where is the flash on the iPod Touch? There is none.
Just because iPhone has flash, doesn't mean iPad will.

But if you put the ipad 2 on a flat table you wont be able to hear anything because it will be completely blocked off where in mind the left and right speakers are at the bottom.

The 30-pin Apple iPod dock connector carries a lot more signals than what a MicroUSB connector does. Things like analog sound in/out, composite video out, S-Video out, serial control and device recognition. Stuff that USB can't handle simultaneously.

It is unlikely that Apple would dump the dock connector in the foreseeable future for MicroUSB. As a matter of fact, since Apple deprecated Firewire on iDevices, there are about ten unused pins on the dock connector. It is more likely that Apple will implement new functionality with the open circuits.
