Seeing lots of Chinese switching in and out of the crowd. Not that I'm suspiscious. =)

Seen this at a previuos launch though. They'll insert about 20 or 30 people into the queue before opening time.

I think that was post launch, and was to try and stop people going in and harassing the applittes all day long.

Finally got into 'Order status' and it seems one of the orders placed last night that gave the error message was successful!:) So 3 orders placed currently... Makes me wonder how many other people have had the same thing - error messages concealing successful orders...

Heh, on that one at least I know I'm safe thanks to the Barclay's fraud prevention call I got an hour ago listing my last five purchases (£479 declined to Apple, £1 approved which tallies with what happened). But yeah, definately worth checking once the system stops falling over and gibbering. Strange that Apple seem to have got their load balancing so wrong though, the store is running fine, it's when you try and connect to the back end services it all goes *splat*. Which reminds me, if anyone does want to check, try going through the US site, that all seems to be working fine and (as far as I can tell) gives pretty much the same info.

On a side note (okay, rant) I really need to go yell at Barclays. Their fraud prevention scheme is just terrible, assumes that if it sees four small transactions then a big one on-line it's dodgy and refuses the transaction. Considering I use the same card for both Apple and Steam this has a tendency to cause problems (as does my lack of an alternative card). Honestly though, who thought that was a sensible pattern to use, especially considering it was being dispatched to my home address?

Any southeasters on here? Blue water? Best buy thurrock? I called the reseller in Maidstone, they said "not sure of stock yet, but should have a few of each... No queues"

Same here smiddlehurst,

I've had a call from Santander fraud department this morning. Apple tried 458 quid three times. They blocked both cards I used.

Another account worked though - but Apple really had problems last night without a doubt.

Whose hoping that after 5pm online orders will start to change (or am I mad!)

If stores continue to get more after this week, then the UK (actually I think its Ireland) warehouses must be too. But again could be deluding myself..

Is there any way we can gauge if best buy have stocked as much apple?

I know the hedge end best buy is about a 10 minute drive from botley train station and just off the m27, but no idea on stock, and the charming woman i spoke to said they had quite a few, so could be a few of each model or a load, or anything really.

Have a mate who works opposite BB and he's keeping an eye on the queueing situation for me.

When i finish work, going to try comet, BB, argos west quay and then apple southampton, so should be able to luck out on all of them, in that order :D

Smart cover (black leather, as wouldn't let me select red) just arrived in office (Aldgate, City of London). Expecting (hoping) to see order status (although still timing out at moment) change to 24-48hrs on the iPad2, but, sadly more realistically, suspect it'll turn up next week.

Last year my iPad actually came a day early - not long now before it finds a new home via eBay, although GarageBand works surprisingly well on it.
