Every iPhone and the original iPad launch has been hugely anticipated and always follows hundreds of posts from people disappointed because they didn't queue early enough.
Shipping time gone to 3-4 weeks on Apple UK store
I will have 2 x 32gb ipads in black this evening
They are both going on ebay
Offers anyone ?
Whose hoping that after 5pm online orders will start to change (or am I mad!)
I ordered at 12.30am. My delivery has always been for 3-4 weeks time (27th April). Has anyone else got anything earlier from the online apple store (earlier than 25th April?)
I know the hedge end best buy is about a 10 minute drive from botley train station and just off the m27, but no idea on stock, and the charming woman i spoke to said they had quite a few, so could be a few of each model or a load, or anything really.
Have a mate who works opposite BB and he's keeping an eye on the queueing situation for me.
When i finish work, going to try comet, BB, argos west quay and then apple southampton, so should be able to luck out on all of them, in that order![]()
What is the hype for iPad 2 compared to iPad 1?
I wasn't a member of this forum last year so I didn't read anything about queues or stock levels etc. I just walked into my local PC World on launch day at about 3pm and picked up an iPad.
Do people seem more hyped about this one?
Joined Meadowhall queue 12.20 must be just over 100 in front of me! Lots of Japanese tourists too. Actually out in the car park! Thank god for a nice day, I didn't bring a coat!!!
hmmm, difficult to gauge really, I would say about the same as an uneducated guess. Maybe different types of people this time around, but then again lots of early adopters of ipad 1 will go for it today too, I know I will. I really like your (nick)name btw.
Heh, on that one at least I know I'm safe thanks to the Barclay's fraud prevention call I got an hour ago listing my last five purchases (£479 declined to Apple, £1 approved which tallies with what happened). But yeah, definately worth checking once the system stops falling over and gibbering. Strange that Apple seem to have got their load balancing so wrong though, the store is running fine, it's when you try and connect to the back end services it all goes *splat*. Which reminds me, if anyone does want to check, try going through the US site, that all seems to be working fine and (as far as I can tell) gives pretty much the same info.
On a side note (okay, rant) I really need to go yell at Barclays. Their fraud prevention scheme is just terrible, assumes that if it sees four small transactions then a big one on-line it's dodgy and refuses the transaction. Considering I use the same card for both Apple and Steam this has a tendency to cause problems (as does my lack of an alternative card). Honestly though, who thought that was a sensible pattern to use, especially considering it was being dispatched to my home address?
