Did some chasing in my lunchbreak. Went to PCWorld/Currys Chesterfield - they don't have any of the one I want, in fact the only 3G ones they have are 6 black 64Gb. Other models they have are 3 each of white 16, 32 and 64Gb. No queue or anything though, and not expecting it, so ideal if you want one of those!

Then called Comet in Drakehouse, Sheffield - they have hardly any, again none of the one I want, or any other 3G ones (only 1 per store for display), and just a couple wi-fi ones. I did get the code for the white 32Gb 3G though if any use to anyone - 712469.

Comet also checked all other surrounding stores - only ones with any 3G ones to sell in Yorkshire/Derbyshire region is a branch in York :(

They do, however, have plenty in their warehouse - just not had time to get them out to stores yet

Joined the WestQuay Southampton Apple Store at 12 noon about 60 people in front of me, the queue is now about 100 long, staff unsure if will be able to get exact model i want.

Joined Meadowhall queue 12.20 must be just over 100 in front of me! Lots of Japanese tourists too. Actually out in the car park! Thank god for a nice day, I didn't bring a coat!!!

Oh great... Keep us updated buddy, pretty please! No chance of me getting there before 3.30/4ish, but might not bother if looks like there'll be none left. Actually got a genius appointment for 9am tomorrow for something else, suppose there's a chance they'll have some more tomorrow...

I am in the covent garden queue, got to be 300+ easily. Great weather. If you need updates tweet me at @nickhudgell

Going to head down to Kingston in about 20 mins. Will be tweeting live to let people know the queue situation down there. My twitter handle is @lixlev if anyone is interested.

At the Trafford centre the security guards won't let us sit down. Tickets being allocated at 3pm. About 150 to 200 in queue. 1000 iPads rumoured in stock.

Guess I may have to head down a little earlier than planned! There is a west quay thread in the meetups section, and people would be v.appreciative if you could update us there at some point?

Got an automated call from Barclays this morning, went through the motion of resetting, left it 20 minutes and tried to order again, only to be declined once more!!! Got a phone call from Barclays (human this time) and because I had recent fraudulent activity my account requires additional actions to be reset it seems! Time to start using a different card I think!

Anyhow, have held off ordering for now given the delivery dates touted on here.
I slept through an automated anti-fraud call this morning. Phoned them up to discover that Apple had attempted a total of five transactions last night—I confirmed that they were all legitimate and was advised to attempt the transaction again. The one-click order placed at 12:46am is still there and waiting to be paid. Hopefully, they will try once more before rejecting the order altogether. Not sure what it would mean for my place in the virtual queue though.

About the shipping estimates—they are indeed estimates, and everyone seems to get a generic such at this moment. The free iPhone 4 bumpers had the same 2-3 weeks estimate, but were shipped within a few days if you ordered early.

I'm sorry, since when can you not sit down. Tell them to do one!

Apple online ordering woes

I tried to purchase at 1:00 this morning and the store kept erroring at different places. I gave up at 1:30 and this morning I tried again but my CC had been blocked. Got a call from my CC bank and they said they had blocked my card due to fraudulent activity. They won't unblock and won't discuss any further! Great - now I don't have a credit card for about a week. Tried purchasing via bank transfer and when I try to access my order the Apple store times out.
The worst Apple experience of my life - no ease of use there. I won't be buying anything on the day it comes out again.

Hey.
By non-flagship store, do you mean AT Computers? They have stock and no queues. Apple store has people queueing already.

The only ones they have from my point in the line is the 16 White, I know the guy a few was after a 64 but other than that I don't know.

Are you at Castle Marina PCW? If so, I think I may have just seen you as I just popped in and spoke to some of you (asking how many they had in stock and one of you told me 60-70).

Do you know if they are handing tickets out?
