Anyone know if PcWorld will be stocking from day 1?

nobody really knows. the website seems to think so. Thing is, if im going to queue I'm tempted to get to an apple store early as they'll have far more units in stock even if the queue is longer

So far, Apple, Argos, John Lewis, Pc World and 3 have the availible 25th picture. any others i'm missing?

I've just called my local KRCS store (Leeds) and they are not taking anymore pre-orders for iPad 2 !
They had a memo from head office this morning.
This looks like they think there might be a shortage?????
:apple:

Considering there's currently a shortage in the US, it's pretty likely it's going to be the same here.

Stores that are not Apple stores are also going to get a lot less stock.

1. It was a "nightmare" last year when we had only 1 big store. Now we got two - Regent Street and Covent Garden.

PS: Anyone interested in any meetup by the way? I'd like to meet Apple and Tech lovers time to time.

Sounds good, which store were you planning on going to? Either is fine for me but I think Regent Street is more central so may be busier.

i am in leeds too - but i didnt think you can preorder ipad2?

Anyone ordered one from the US and got it yet?

I bought one on eBay which is sitting in a hotel room waiting for me to arrive this week. It cost me the same as a UK one will cost me when it's out on 25th (£599 for a 64gb wifi-only); but at least I won't have to waste time queueing.

according to KRCS - the same as previous - but still not convinced until Apple release proper information.

Didn't Steve say in the keynote that prices were being held at the same as first-gen? That sounds pretty conclusive to me (and they were in the US).

the US has not had a tax increase like we have had... so there is still chance that pricing might reflect the new VAT over here

When Steve says that prices are remaining the same that means in the US.

Prices often fluctuated in other regions due to exchange rates. The UK/US rates are more favourable than when the original iPad was released but VAT has increased so chances are they'll not differ too much but I'm interested in how much the official prices will be.

He already increased the price of the iPad 1 from £429 to £439 when VAT went up, so my money is on 16gb wifi iPad 2 costing £439.

Covers/Cases

Oops, nevermind, forgot that their was a whole subforum for this.

I've just called my local KRCS and put my name down for the ipad of my choice.. i'm currently 10th on the list.

I asked about the 20% deposit, but the guy said no need, and there's also no obligation.

They don't actually know what stock levels they will have until around this time next week, so even though my name is on the list, there's no guarantee they'll even have the stock.

So whats everyone doing regarding the covers or cases for there new iPad? :D

As I'll be transporting it a bit on train journeys, I'd prefer a case or at least some form of back protection. So will be looking around soon for some good cases.

Though I'll assume that the smart cover won't work well with a back case due to the alignment. Ohwell.

i'll be getting a smart cover.. i have my tom bihn ristretto bag, which is ace :)

Ive bought this

I'll use that when transporting/not in use, and also going to get a smart case for propping up etc. I'll probably just rest the iPad on the neoprene case under normal usage.

BTW I offered him £4 and he accepted :)

Anyone know how online ordering went in the US?

Did they restrict one per order, was there difficulty with slow response on the site and how long was it before delivery dates started slipping.

Getting my kids doing finger exercises in readiness!
