Your 'Mom'? This is the UK thread, goddammit! ;)

Sorry. :( I've never had a mum or a mummy. It's a bugger when you're buying birthday cards!

Picked up a black leather smart cover from Argos today as the wife had ordered a red one from Apple but who knows when or if that'll ever ship. It's an ingenious design and works very well.

I got the black leather one too. I really expected to be returning it but I'm really impressed. Not a substitute for a case but I think they compliment the iPads really well.

How's everyone finding the light bleed? I'm taking mine back on Saturday, has anyone actually got an iPad 2 without the issue?

Nothing noticeable here .. I'm not bothering to 'go looking' though to be honest as there's no point. If I'm happy with it as is then why mess :D

Ordered yesterday with Comet 64gb black 3g for delivery next tuesday. Noticed today they still have them available for a delivery slot tomorrow (Brum). So called em up and they have changed delivery for tomorrow yay! :D

Worth a look if you are still in the market for one!
Thanks for pointing this out!
Ordered yesterday and the best I could get was tuesday. Just rang them and they moved it forward to saturday! Brilliant!
Very helpful on the phone too.

Its much better than I thought it would be. I've bought her a Gelaskin for the back and that'll be it sorted, a much less bulky solution than I have on my v1 ipad.

glad i have an ipad without light leak :D

tested it out in the dark and played around with the brightness settings, couldnt find a fault.

An online chat with Comet has just thrown some metaphorical cold water over my face as I get increasingly worked up about getting an iPad 2. I asked them if I'd be able to return it for a refund if it had a dead pixel or similar issue. I was told no I couldn't - I could only take it into a Comet shop for a repair (how would Comet repair it?) or a replacement (they wouldn't have any, no doubt).

It's too big a chance to take, imo.

So, once again, it's back to waiting for my Apple (with their second-to-none CS) order to ship.

You can take it to an Apple store for a repair (or likely replacement) I believe.

Yeah, I thought of that so it's an option if my iPad lust becomes too much to bear. Another thought occurred to me - if I wait for my Apple online order maybe they'll have given the production line a kick up the arse regarding light-leak problems and I'll get a decent one come mid-April.

It's not like my iPad 1 isn't serving perfectly well at the moment. Sigh...

My pleasure I thought I'd share it out incase someone can benefit just as I (hopefully) have:p

I got mine on launch from Argos and it has light bleed. Waiting a few weeks so Apple can start bringing in the non-defective units before I take mine back.

It's pretty bearable really, you only notice it when you're in a dark room.

That's mind my mind up!

I've got a double whammy of comfort if I stick to mid-April, hoping that production has improved and knowing that even then I can return my Apple online order with no quibbles if there's a problem with it.

Within the next 28 days?

I have (finally) got my DHL tracking number after ordering 5.15 pm Friday. When you get to speak to the right person you find out that they did indeed have problems at the warehouse but their CS advisors werent told of this and couldnt be bothered to find out.

In this conversation I was told that because of the stock issues they changed the website to state 28 days, but in reality they were continuing to get supplies from Apple and should be able to fulfill much sooner than this.

At the moment they are being over cautious with delivery times because many, like me, expected delivery in 3 days (which is what it said in the email) but they failed.

So I wouldn't guarantee it but you may be lucky if you want to risk ordering with PC World/Currys. And I now know who to contact if there's a problem since they have a notoriously bad reputation for customer service.

It's my first experience - initially ordered directly thru Apple. I ordered on Sunday evening.

Managed to pick up an iPad 2 from the Covent Garden Store yesterday after reserving online… but, it turns out that the iPad 2 Dock and the (PRODUCT) RED leather Smart Cover are in fact even harder to find than the iPad 2. The people at the Store - quite a big one, you'll agree - said they hadn't ever had iPad 2 docks in, and the red covers had been out of stock for a few days.

I'll be going to my local Apple Store at the weekend; if they don't have the red covers I'll have to reconsider my choice of colour.

I wish the best of luck to everyone still trying to get their hands on an iPad 2. I know how lucky I am to have actually got my hands on one!

I wonder what their backlog must be like.

On my way to pick up my reserved black wifi 64 from the store. It's been quite a week. I fully expect to be told, sorry, there's been a stock problem...

Well I managed to reserve one at Coventry Garden, went in to collect this evening and haven't had it out of my hand since.

I hope everyone manages to get the iPad they want.
