Another day... another excuse by PCW!

Now told they have a systems problem with releasing orders... and can't even despatch today. Anyone else still waiting for a despatch from PCW/Currys?

Has Tesco indicated when they are expecting a new shipment?

I'm not sure if I should place an order with Curry's and hope it beats the ship date of Apple, or if I should just hold out hope of Tesco showing some available for 'immediate' shipment.

I ordered with Apple on launch day
Ordered with PCW on Tuesday

Will cancel one as soon as i get a delivery date.

Also check tesco/argos/john lewis every morning (with email alerts) and check reserves @ meadowhell 9pm.

bases covered. :D

I'm really starting to miss my iPad, it's been two weeks since I sold it on eBay. Actually carrying my iP4 around the house more then ever for web browsing etc, but it's really not the same. Woke up this morning and reached across to check news and email only to find the iPhone sitting there. Was so annoyed, I rolled over and fell back asleep :D

Currys

Currys are a bunch of f%&*ers. Order accepted on Friday evening, confirmed with CS over the phone on Saturday that they had stock and 3-5 day lead time was correct. Receive notification on Monday that "we are now preparing your order for delivery". Happy days. Heard not a squeak out of them since. Ring this morning to chase - "Your order has not been fulfilled due to high demand and has been placed on back order". When are you expecting more stock? "Within 28 days". Thanks a freaking lot, cancel that then.

I thought it was in the bag. What the best way to grab one at this stage? Direct from Apple would be my choice if poss.

Cheers

Give it another week, you just need to keep checking the usual websites for stock to come in. Expect replenishment over the weekend, so if you are quick enough might be able to score one online.

If you want to try Apple, I would wait until 9pm, then try to reserve one online. If you get lucky you can collect the next day from your local store. But usually 16gb and 64gb WiFi models show up, not seen any 3G yet.

I queued on launch day for me and my other half but needed another for my Mom. Ordered on the launch morning from Apple... nothing.

Ordered Saturday morning from Argos and it was delivered Tuesday. It angers me that Argos can provide faster service than Apple.

I'm also stalking Meadowhall - saw a 64gb wifi come up last night but then it crashed (i'm after the 3g 64bg anyway).
I'm just wondering if they keep any stock 'unreserved' that can be picked up on walk-in.
Seems to be a rumour about more stock on Friday - wondering if I should go up there tomorrow morning - any idea what time of day their stock usually arrives ?

Your 'Mom'? This is the UK thread, goddammit! ;)

It's bonkers that Apple can't fulfill orders quicker than Tesco. It's so..so...tawdry! :)

Just got my shiny new black 32GB WiFi iPad 2 from Brighton! Yay

I managed to reserve for in store pick up last night. Been trying for the past 3 nights so I'm a very happy bunny right now!

Good luck to everyone who is still on the hunt, you'll get there. :D

I picked up mine today from covent garden through the reserve system. a big tip for you all cos i managed to get one both days i tried but settles on the time i could take yesterday. Make sure you are at the pick your ipad page before 8.55 then f5 till the available ones turn on. You are then instantly one of the first to pick the items and go to sign in page. It worked 2/2 times i did this.

Picked up a black leather smart cover from Argos today as the wife had ordered a red one from Apple but who knows when or if that'll ever ship. It's an ingenious design and works very well.

I agree. I ordered at 00.30 on the Apple website last frIday and they tell me delivery will be three weeks. I order last Friday night from Tesco (thanks to this forum) and Tesco deliver to me on Monday.

I find it incredible that ordering from the manufacturer directly as soon as they will accept orders, cannot get their product in my hands within a reasonable timeframe. Yet a 3rd party can?

Plus I got £10 off at Tesco using a coupon, and about £25 to come from Quidco. Apple do this time and again - the sole purpose has to be to generate hype but it just pi**es people off!

Loving my 3G 32GB black iPad 2 though...

Comet

Ordered yesterday with Comet 64gb black 3g for delivery next tuesday. Noticed today they still have them available for a delivery slot tomorrow (Brum). So called em up and they have changed delivery for tomorrow yay! :D

Worth a look if you are still in the market for one!

Currys delivered *gasp*

Just got my 64GB wifi/3G black from Currys. Ordered last Friday around 8pm. I had real trouble getting any confirmation. I would advise anyone ordering from Currys to phone them every day to check on progress. My constant niggling appeared to work (maybe?!).

As an iPad 1 owner I wasn't sure I would notice much of a difference but it really is different. Much easier to hold in one hand because they've changed the thickness so much, it's much more comfy. I may actually read a little on it now! lol

If I was looking for an iPad now? I think I'd try for tescos but put an order in with Apple on their website as well and then cancel when (and only when!) the other order arrives.

Better still would be to try an actual Apple store I think but I'm gazillions of miles away from one of those!

Off to cancel my Apple order now :)

All the best folks with tracking these things down!

My 64Gb Black WiFi is on its way with Tesco for collection tomorrow. Was lucky yesterday morning. I went to my local Apple store (Aberdeen) this morning to get a smart cover. Ended up giving in and buying the Red leather. The staff admitted that Apple have been sneaky putting the more popular colours in the higher price bracket, but thats business i guess.
They also were very understanding of the stock difficulties, but surprised Tesco were getting stock, whereas their own replenishment is rather sporadic. They did emphasise however that it is "their" product and that any issues they'd be more than happy to help...

Unfortunately Apple seem to have got the stock balance slightly wrong this time around. To give them some credit, at least they are trying different patterns of release. This time concentrating on the retail side of things, whereas the iphone was very much preorder and reservation. I think Preorder is the way to go in future, at least they would have a better idea of the demand.

Fingers crossed for my delivery tomorrow, and remember we're only a week since release, soon enough we'll be overloaded with excess stock!
:):apple:

Apple's tactic seems to putting all their available stock into stores first.
3rd party policy appears to be the other way round.

I will wait and see what PCW do with my order and stalk the reserve page, with a fall back on apple delivery.

Trad colours in leather, funky in plastic. Like the mix.

It will be red for me too - apparently an aids awareness product.

Guys and girls, any thoughts about me driving to the Bullring store and chancing my luck? I don't hold out much hope but?!?!?
