Once you have the reservation email what else do you need? Just take this (it's on my iPhone) and show them?

Can I forward the email to a friend so he can use it for the reservation or will it have to be me? What proof do they need? How will they it's not me if I print off the email for him?

Anyone tried this? Just save me going to the store as it's for him anyway

Cheers

WTF :/
Maybe that 16GB Black with WiFi is too popular.

Judging by the meadowhell 9pm reserves - the cheapest (16 wifi) and most expensive (3g) are all well sold out.

I have cancelled my 32gb white order with apple (but kept the red cover), It was good as a backup but reckon I should be sorted out by mid next week.

Be patient folks, set email reminders at argos/tesco/john lewis and watch the 9pms! I got an argos reminder at teatime - but by then it was too late. Good news for someone else.

Come on PCW!

Never before have I tried so hard to give someone my money.
If I don't get to reserve tomorrow, I will not be getting one at all. Don't need it that much.
They're not going to miss it (and lets be honest, you'll end up getting one anyway despite your venting)

oooooh Tesco you teasing Bast***s

Just had an email come in..subject

'Tesco Direct - 'Email me when back in stock' update'

I was like 'here we go!!' order order order

then reading on...

'We are continuing to monitor this product for you and will email you as soon as it comes back into stock.
This is a weekly reminder that you asked us to track the following product for you:
Item 211-0117 - Apple iPad 2 64GB Wi-Fi 3G White
We're sorry to let you know that it has not yet come back into stock.'

I nearly had a bit of wee come into my pants. Teasing swines!

Argos saying they have some in stock on the order page and then when you submit your CC details it says they cannot confirm stock.

WTF?!

Starting with good news, managed to reserve for Covent Garden with a 64gb wifi only in white.

But it has been HELL!

Like many other wanters, no stock anywhere, apple live chat useless, conflicting phone calls to find stock...

Decided to give up and buy online and wait the 4 weeks only to find that not one but two different credit cards wouldn't go through. Banks say funds are fine and no attempts were made but Apple online kept rejecting.

More live chat, more complaining.

Then tried the 9pm window and the entire site was hanging or timing me out. Finally got in at 9.40pm.

While a recent convert to the iChurch, I am amazed at how badly Apple handled this week. Last year (first Apple product) I walked in to a shop and walked out with pad in less than 3 minutes. This year? Hell no!

If I wanted a bunch of people to blame each other and not know what's going on, I would have gone to my local PCW where those traits are almost an art form!

Shops dont' know when there's stock, live chat use preformed answers and don't even record feedback, online store sucked and so little info on what stores were selling. I could have just reserved at Argos but only found out Argos were selling 5 days after.

Apple, I love your iPad. If only you stuck to making it and not selling/launching/marketing it.

But everyone hang in there and good luck!

You need to wait for a dynamic dropdown menu to load below this, which will show you some pickup times. It takes a while to appear even after the page has 'loaded'.

If you click on 'Continue' before it loads, it'll give you this error.

Everyone is complaining and screaming but you all need to get a grip. You cannot expect Apple to have the hardware and engineering up to support 100% of the peak product-launch-reservation-time demand on the website. 99% of the time it would all just go to waste.

Just have patience :)

Be honest, if you work for Apple please say :)

Guys, if you live close to an Apple Store then it's well worth just calling in. Like I mentioned a few pages back I was at the Trafford Centre last night and went in and asked about stock. The guy said yes which one are you after.

I came away with a White 32gb, I know they had White 64's too but don't think there was many. By the sounds of it black were not a problem.

What surprised was when I first went in I tried the reserve online and it told me there was no stock which makes me wonder how accurate it actually is and how it works?

I tried both Monday and Tuesday to reserve online, about three or four times I got as far as clicking the the confirm button before the site timing out.

Comet are currently showing a few models in stock and available for next day delivery (as of 08:40 BST) for those still looking.

After the hell i had last night on the Apple web site trying to get one to pick up i gave up and said to my self i try again tomo.

logged on this morning to the the comet website and they have had delivery of some models i have just bagged my self a 32gb wifi black for next day delivery :D (extra £12 tho)

So if people still looking have a look on the comet website and see if they still got them

Good Luck

Glad that worked out for you - I've got a 32GB 3G black reserved at Liverpool today but when I was in yesterday they told me they have none so I guess the old addage of "Your Milage May Vary" applies.

Good luck to all still on the hunt.

Patience and persistence are for habits to practice.

The only way apple could make everyone happy in the first week of a launch of such an anticipated product - is if they delayed launch by a month to build up stock.

Comet have the 32GB black in stock on their site, but when you add it to the basket and try to purchase, it says they cannot deliver.

I had the same thing at Comet: add to cart but when trying to select a delivery time it says none available. I was able to complete my order with delivery for tomorrow for the White 16GB WiFi model but no order confirmation was sent so when I called to ask about that one they said it was an online error and that they no longer have any of any models.

Had a similarly lame experience this morning with Argos: Placed an order yesterday for delivery today and when I called today to verify they had no record of the order despite placing a hold on my debit card. The agent said they no longer have any stock on any models as well despite their site still showing 2 of them as available.

<Sigh>

You need valid ID in order to collect. That ID obviously has to match the name on the reservation. I'm not sure what ID they accept but something like a driver's license or passport will obviously be fine.

Just ordered a white iPad 2 16GB from Argos for delivery tomorrow, hopefully. Get in if you're interested.

Is apple genuinely struggling to get these ipads into peoples hands or are is this part of the hype and interest game to get people to buy more?

i keep hearing people say that its just to generate hype but to be honest its generating annoyance, and now i have all my money ready to go but cant get an ipad, im thinking of other things i might want, so i dont see how it is working.

I ordered one last night but after submitting payment they said they couldn't confirm stock and would e-mail.

12 hours later and I am still waiting for said e-mail.

Totally agree with you there that it just creates annoyance.

They are making them as fast as they can within their production schedules 12 month business plan.

Its not really in their interests to restrict supplies because hearing about shortages is only a moderately effective sales tool. When the product is as good as iP2, actually appears to be - playing with one will generate more sales than hearing that is is 'must have'.

Its only been out a week and is looking like the gadget that will change the personal computing game for decades - a little patience will be its own reward.

PCworld took my order on weds and confirmed on thursday for a 3-day delivery.

****** shambles.

Just got off the phone to Argos and they told me that many online orders made between 11pm last night and approx 3am have 'fallen through the gap'. They have no record of your order and can't tell you if it is stuck in the system or lost forever.

If you've purchased from there in the timeframe above, I suggest you ring your bank and check because Argos are still taking orders even though they cannot guarantee the security and stability of their site.

List of 3rd party retailers

I've been checking several sites over the last week for stock and know there are a few that I linked to from earlier in the thread that I can't seem to find now.

I was wondering if we could create a definitive list of 3rd party sites that we should be checking for stocks.

Here are the few I have been checking. If you have any to add could you quote this list and add on to it:
