Tried using it on full brightness in a dark room on a dark background? There will be bleed. It's a manufacturing defect. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1114606/ I'm hardly the only one with it. I'm just doing something about it in contrary to ignoring it.

of course if you go into a dark room and put brightness up to full with a dark room there is a slight bleed, but this is an excessive test. it's not common use.

i NEVER said it didn't exist for other people who have it worse. all i said was that MINE was fine and yours sucks. Just cos yours and others is bad, doesn't mine is. i've tested it, i have no excessive or even noticeable bleed in standard use.

I just tried, nearly burned my eyes - this a bright screen!!
No 'bleed' ... Nothing to complain about here. Wait!! Nothing to complain about? Am I really British???

+1! :)

i did have a slight one up on max brightness, but seriously, who has it that bright in the dark anyway! lol. madness! some people are just kicking up a fuss about something that's not noticeable in common use. but some do have issues with worse bleed, which is fair enough

I have bleed which can be seen on the home screen so if that's alright with everyone else I'd like to class that as a legitimate disappointment.

Probably not the best time to mention the battery has drained 25% in less than 5 hours on standby, either.

just to be clear, i was saying that there are people with legitimate issues with the bleed in standard use. i was merely stating that some people have gone overboard looking for a problem and blowing it out of proportion.

as for the battery issue, are you running 4.3.1 and have you calibrated the battery after that? i had a problem at first, but doing those 2 things sorted it out.

Apologies - I guess I am cantankerous after being shoved and elbowed for almost 2 hours by Asian scalpers in the iPad queue, only to get home and discover my device is far from perfect.

it's fair enough, i was annoyed at that other bloke who basically told me i was wrong about my own iPad that he cannot see ,stating i must be ignoring the problem

Right enough, seems like a rush job to get them into stores and quality control has been compromised.

Yes you can return but you may end up with one that's worse.

If you open, activate, sync etc. an Ipad bought from Apple can you still return no questions asked with no restocking fee? (I'd wipe it before return *if* I did, of course).

+1. I could do with knowing this also :p

You'll get a full refund and no stocking fee even if it's opened within 14 days of purchase (from Apple).

Just explain that you don't use it as much as you expected to or there's light bleed and you'll wait for the issue to be resolved before buying another one.

Had this discussion with a Apple store employee and he said if it's within 14 days of purchase then you'll be entitled to a full refund, I think in some cases you aren't asked why you want the refund anyway.

I really do not like the apple reserve system. I have been trying for last couple of days but not successful.

However today, I walked in to the orange store today afternoon and asked if they have any iPADs in stock. i was expecting the usual 'NO' form them. However surprisingly they told me that they have just received the new stock and would begin selling it in an hours time. Thus i got my wifi-3g 16GB white on £5/month data rolling contract.
I would suggest try out the orange stores first thing tomorrow if possible

Just be aware though that if you buy from an orange store, it will be sim locked to Orange

Hi all, new poster here. I stumbled across this thread last night after getting frustrated trying to reserve on the Cardiff Apple Store website. They have only had very f shipments recently so last night I broadened ny search and ended up looking at Bluewater.

They had stick showing, but once logged in I got a message stating that no appointments were available. It was a risk, but we drove there early this morning and arrived about 11-ish, and they had some in stock. I was able to get my 3G 16GB in black, and I'm very happy with it.

Best of luck to others. :)

This reservation lark appears to be a complete waste of time for most people.

Maybe just pitch up at an Apple store first thing and hope for the best. To be honest, I really can't be arsed!

Finally Regent St had the Ipad that i wanted, 32GB 3G got all the way to the confirm page only to be told that there are no time slots available at the store despite the stock being there, that is just farcical !!!!

Pitch up at the store at the crack of sparrows and join the queue.

If it it still in stock you're in with a chance. But, then again who knows....

So here we go again,

Regent Street showing all ipads in stock and have been since 8.59.30 tonight.

Go through the whole process until the message about no time slots shows.

WTF.

They really need to sort this out.:mad:
