iPad 2 UK Thread

Anyone actually able to reserve one tonight?
Seems the "no pickup dates available" msg is appearing more. Frustrating considering they're showing stock!
 
got mine....and i didnt reserve it got someone else to do it...ha haaa..

Second time in a few days you've made this exact same comment. So my guess is you're a trader, getting others to reserve and pickup, then "flipping" them straight onto eBay.

If that's the case, then you're directly impeding the ability of other genuine customers to obtain an iPad!
 
Anyone had any luck going down for opening time to one of the London stores?

Friend coming back from US tomorrow has been unable to get one for me so thinking may head down one day early this week.
 
The online reservation system is a joke. I've been trying for the last seven days. The last three including tonight I was actually able to select one but then when I got to the last step it said there were no pickup times available. What is the point of having stock available for reservation if they can't allocate you a pick up time. I work 9 to 5 Mon to Fri so I can't just go before opening time and try my luck. I'm going on holiday on the 21st so the estimated delivery time of my online order of the 26th is no good. Hopefully if I don't have any luck finding one in a store my online order will get here before the 21st. 😡
 
I have a friend in Hong Kong who told me they had some in stock in local stores, could get some to ship to the UK through DHL or something. But what about taxes? Is it legal? Will I have to pay something apart from the delivery fees?

Ummm just to let you know - the ipad 2 has not been released in hong kong yet. It's due for release in April but no specific date stated!!!!

I am picking mine up from PC World tomorrow 🙂

I work at PC World and I know our store is having a delivery tomorrow. So if you after one go to your local PC World/Currys store tomorrow to see if they have had a delivery as well. I think we are having about 20 come in. But there are really no guarantees.

Managed to get iPad on Friday in Richmond

About 10 or 12 of us were lucky enough to get iPads in Richmond on Friday morning. The reservation system was letting us through to the last page and then claiming no slots.

So I decided to run up there and have a go like the others. It took the staff about 45 minutes to sort out what models they had available, and only allowed us to buy them because the reservation system wasn't working. The suspense was murder!

Then a staff member came to the head of the queue and asked us what we wanted - which meant a short guessing game whilst people asked for their preference and she said yes or no! It would have been much simpler to tell us what they had.

The store was absolutely packed at 10am with punters playing with iPads - amazing

I managed to buy a white 64gb wifi model, black were sold out.

Very very happy with it. The Times apps (although not my politics) really show off the machine. I am going to do a lot of reading on it. Games may come a close second. Propped up on the smart cover next to my breakfast it is great for reading the web.

Limited black supply - that's weird last week everyone had black models but no White stock at all.

I'm glad you like The Times app, one of my friends is a developer for it.
 
My 32/wifi/white order with PCW for thursday has still got no tracker no...

Called them at 10 and they told me to call back this afternoon...

I suspect Mr Cockup is in town....

I called the Apple store in Meadowhall this morning to ask if it was worth me coming along first thing in the morning.
They told me that all the stock goes up for reservation on the website so best to stick to that.
Saves me a trip at least then.
 
Comet, Orpington

I managed to pick up a white 16gb Wifi model for my wife this morning in Comet, Orpington. The guy said they had a black one left if anyone is interested.
 
I just had a 64gb black from John Lewis in my shopping basket on their site and was about to pay, when it said "sorry, this item is no longer available"
