Three in particular look like a great deal; if their data plans are anything like the level of allowance you got for the original ipad, it might actually work out cheaper (relative to what you believe data is worth) to buy it from them for £200 on a 24 monther. Way I look at it is:

£200 for the wifi + 3G 16GB

24 Months x £25 contract = £600 at 15GB of data a month.

That's 360GB of data for 271 quid - minus the retail price of the iPad.

And that's only assuming that they keep the same tariffs. They might introduce some kind of all-you-can-eat data plan and reduce the price of the limited ones. 15GB would be more than enough for me.

Equivalently, on tmobile/orange, you get 24GB IN TOTAL - that's 1GB a month - of data on their 24 month contract - for £27 a month, if you're a non-customer. £25 if you are.

This sounds like an amazing deal to me!
Unfortunately I'm not going to be in the UK next year so will have to be getting a 3g iPad 2 from Apple. Not going to complain about that in the slightest though :D

just got a 64GB iPad gen1 for £300 with free brand new Krussel leather case from ebay. sweet.

Ipad 2 In The UK

Wow, so many people talking about the ipad 2 not long now guys lol

I don't fancy waiting in line either think I'll probably hold off till after the weekend at least and see what's left in stock. i have a comet, currys, bestbuy as well as an apple store so I should be able to get one somewhere. You'd think so anyway.

I'm getting my mum one for mothers day so I've got a week after launch to get one. Then I'm off to vegas in June so I'm gonna get myself one while I'm over there. Should hopefully get a 64gb wi-fi for the same price as a 16gb. That's how much the UK taxes the **** out of products I think its disgusting. If it isn't petrol and diesel, we have to pay over the top for electrical products too rip off britain as per usual.

Hopefully if I order as soon as it hits midnight on the 25th I will be able to get one in under a week. I just don't fancy waiting in line otherwise if you don't get one you are screwed and waiting even longer when you order online.

That's not a bad idea I could try that too. It seems so long to wait considering the US has already got theirs. Was it the same when the iphone 4 came out? I remember it being released worldwide on the same day?

I'm frustrated with Parcelforce.

I have a white iPad and blue smart cover sitting at customs waiting for parcel force to get it down to the local hub so I can collect it.

I called customs today and they said it was cleared yesterday and now it's up to pf to get it out. PF told me it's up to customs to send the lorries with the cleared packages to them.

So basically neither know what they are talking about.

I'm sure it will turn up eventually BUT if I have to wait until next week I will be very unhappy as the whole point of buying early was to get it before the UK release.

The problem here was using USPS. I asked for it to be sent GXG which is fedex. But the sender sent it express mail instead which is why it is in customs and not in my hands now...

I'm frustrated with Parcelforce.

Keep checking in the status because as soon as it's with Parcel Force, they'll just send you a letter to ask for payment before they'll even attempt to deliver it to you.

However, depending on the office it's with, they should be able to take payment before they send the letter.

They might insist that you give them the payment reference number on the letter rather than the parcel ref but they can do it with just the parcel reference number so be persistent.

Mine came from Parcel Farce last year.

Thanks. I intend to phone them up and pay the customs charges and then pick it up assuming it is early in the day.

Customs told me it was £99 VAT and £13 PF fee. So I feel that is a reasonable amount.

It is just that I know it is on a truck in a depot in Coventry where the hub is based and I would happily pay for it now if they had processed it but they haven't!

What value was the package declared for? and what model?

thanks in advance!

Just thinking (as I'm sure other have) that the Notify me link on the UK Apple site includes the wording: "We’ll notify you when it’s available to buy from an Apple Retail Store or pre-order from the Apple Online Store."

That, combined with a continued lack of information about the release date (time of availability etc), could mean that they will accept pre-orders like they did the iPhone 4. Or, they're sitting back and using their experiences in the US to plan launch day in the rest of the world. Either way, the suspense is killing me!

I'm tempted to queue up again like I did for the iPhone 4, but certainly won't be doing it without a guarantee of getting the device I want at the end of it.

I'm planning on using the Cardiff Store (assuming that whey dont do preorders).

Cant PM for some reason (i assume there is a post count limite on it)

I'm going to hit up AT Computers in Cardiff...they had stock with the first iPad last year and zero queue!

$750 32GB 3G.

Nomad01 - how long was your iPad with customs last year before it was onto the courier... I know its been cleared. I just have to wait for it to move and it has been there since Monday and was cleared Yesterday.

I can't really remember. No more than a day though from memory. Passed from them to Parcel Force relatively quickly.

I was planning a regular apple store order on line, think it will be the easiest way, but I can see them being into back orders within the first hour so its not going to be a quick delivery job :(

Well there's a phrase I haven't heard before. Oh wait, yes I have.

Thank your lucky stars City Link aren't involved.

I have still not forgiven 5h1tty Link for destroying Guitar Hero 2 which they delivered to me on my birthday (at least it was on time I guess :D).

If pre-orders are happening they have to start within the next couple of days. iPhone 4 went up for pre-order 9 days before release (we're now 9 days away from the 25th) and iPad 1 went up for pre-order May 10th and launched on May 28th (18 Days!)!

So, if its going to happen its got to happen soon!

I would hope that we will at least hear something by Friday. That's a week before the launch. Pre-orders or not, they can't leave us without information for that much longer, launch day is almost upon us!
