Worse came though. From today, the "reserve at 9pm" scheme is ending according to the Meadowhall guy I called. For all branches.

Yes indeed, the website has changed now. It no longer shows the "reserve from 9pm" and instead show just this "Buy iPad 2 at your favorite Apple Retail Store
and get free Personal Setup."

I guess it's back to queuing first thing now if you want one!

Went in to the Keighley Comet at lunchtime and was told that they had a single iPad in stock - 32Mb WiFi can't remember the colour - decided to order a 32Mb 3G in black with estimated delivery between 7 and 14 days.

We'll see. It's my birthday next week so it would be great for it to arrive in time :D

Happy birthday to you next week. Sadly, mine won't be in time for my 18th this week.

I've been trying the 9pm thing most days for a while, with no luck at Meadowhall.

Bugger it - I've just ordered a 64GB Wifi Black from Argos, to be delivered tomorrow.

Hope it pans out.

Steve.

Just an update for anyone who may have ordered through "Three", after many delays of the agreed delivery dates and false promises by shoddy Customer Service reps, it appears that they despatched a lot of iPad 2's last night. No expected delivery date however some have said that Three use DPD as their postal service and we should expect delivery today.

Fingers crossed, this wait is killing me!

In case anyone is still desperate, currys/PC world have black 16gb wifi models in stock.

Just bought one, rung them up first and the guy confirmed they had a few in stock with delivery of 3-5 working days from their warehouse.

I was watching the wired podcast the other day (I think it was the wired one!) and someone in the states had returned their iPad via mail with a note that said 'the wife says no' and it got sent back with a note saying 'Apple says yes'!! .. hopefully it didn't cause marital issues there lol

Yes but Apple refunded the money and the reason for the refund worked its way up the chain until someone senior with a sense of humour got hold and authorised it to be sent back out.

I posted the other day to say I was going for a refurbished 64gb iPad 1st gen. Unfortunately I'm finding it a lot slower than I hoped for. Its going back and I'll order the '2' when they're more readily available. I definitely want one, just not the one I'm typing on at the moment!

received my 32GB White 3G model today from Three, their mobile broadband is so fast :D I had to go back to work (picked it up at lunch) and my other half has text me saying she's been on it non-stop!

UPS delivered my iPad2 today!

How the hell do you boot it up properly?!

All I get is a picture of a USB cable pointing to an iTunes logo. I can't seem to get past it.

I don't have iTunes on my PC. I thought the iPad was self-contained and didn't need another computer. It's also why I went for a 3G version.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

UPS delivered mine from Apple today also but first failed delivery attempt :( won't be back home till Sunday argh

Just download iTunes to activate and remove it again, if you're happy with downloading apps/music/videos directly onto the iPad without using a PC then go for it!

You need a computer for a few things when using an iOS device. The main ones are:

1. Activate it
2. Back it up
3. Install iOS updates
4. Sync media such as photos, music and video

I walked in to the Apple store in Milton Keynes today, just to enquire when stock would be replenished. As it turned out, they had stock out the back.

Picked up a black 64Gb 3G

Just got mine from UPS in Leeds. Terrible light bleed. Will call Apple tomorrow :( what a disappointment.

its a pain in the rear end installing games and updates which are >100mb directly on your ipad, unless you have a superfast connection.

also i like the ability to auto-download podcasts on my pc and then sync them.

but i guess you COULD avoid pc use by taking it to the apple store and asking them to activate it.

should add, the mrs' ipad arrived today, well in time for her birthday! no last minute scrabbling round for an alternative present, woohoo.

we are now a two ipad family.

PCWorld/DGS = fail in every aspect of business sometimes.

Have to agree with you there. Although it's not quite so "important" as an ipad2 delivery (I already have that), I ordered an AV cable for it over 2 weeks ago from PC World online. It was in stock, but due to some admin mix up, it's only now on it's way to me... having been "out for delivery" three times to the wrong address
