FYI mine shipped with a faulty cable. iPhone cable works fine. You tried other cables?
Tried with a different cable (assuming you have one)? If so, bad rotten luck. They load the software on via the dock connection though.
I hope I don't get anything faulty with my delivery on Wednesday (hopefully it comes on time). I'm going back to university on Thursday so I'd be heartbroken.
Yeah I've tried other cables it just plain won't work lol. I'm going to the genius bar tomorrow so it should be okay as long as they give me a replacement haha.
iPad dock connector is different from the iPhone connector. At first I thought it was a fault as was using iPhone connector at work when trying to charge, but will only work with the iPad specific one. Got the 10watt charger which is brilliant and charges very fast too and works with iPhone in double quick time.
I went to both these stores last week at lunch time - queues were about an hour each so I thought, sod it not waiting here. 10 minutes more on the Central Line to Shepherds Bush, and the Apple Store at Westfield was very quiet, no queue, and had what I wanted in stock (16gb black) = instant iPad 2! Nothing like instant gratification...
Just a quick pointer on the dock cables! Check the port on your iPad I have been using my iPhone 4 cable to sync and the iPad cable to charge with the 10w adaptor. Now looking closely there is slight groove marks on my iPad and a quick search suggests I'm not alone.
Are the cables really different, surely a 30pin connector is a 30pin connector? Anyone else getting this?

I got my consignment number from Orange! They only confirmed the product had been shipped today after 1 email, 2 phone calls and finally the guys at @OrangeHelpers on twitter managed to get me a confirmation of shipping.

Got mine but still waiting for smart cover to arrive
First time I have owned an iPad and it arrived yesterday via UPS. Got the white 32GB WiFi and its fantastic. Love love love it! Teenage daughter loves it too sadly and no sooner had I been using it for 10 minutes did she whip it out of my hands and hogged it for the next couple of hours (playing monkeyball!). My only gripe is that my smart cover has been shipped separately, despite being ordered at the same time and the invoice stating that they would be shipped as one consignment. So I am still without the smart cover and hoping it will be here tomorrow. The shipping notification says it should be delivered by 21st April. The UPS guy came again today to deliver the iPad camera connector (I ordered that separately, free postage though) and he said he had delivered shed loads of iPads since stock came in last week but lots of customers were complaining that Apple were shipping orders in dribs and drabs, not as 1 consignment as originally stated at the time of order. I have ended up ordering another iPad for my daughter, with despatch estimated on 10th May. My local iStore has no stock, and is still awaiting stock replenishment after selling out on launch date, so it seems that the best place to order (even if its advance order) is from Apple direct. The iStore sold all its stock of 150 iPads in 1 hour apparently. Glad I got mine now, even if it wasn't on launch day.

Now trying to get an iPad 2. Was gonna get one from Comet due to work 10% discount but they seem to be sold out. Called Apple Regent St and Covent Garden but same story.
I have now placed an order from Apple online Black 64gb 3G but est. shipping date is for the 9th May with est delivery 13th May.
I'm trying to do exactly the same with the work discount of 10%. I have to do mine in store - do you? Either way, I think I have got a wait on my hands!! Doubt they'll have any in for some time, don't know if any ipad 2s have been anywhere near a Comet store yet!
Yeah has to be done in store only as its an sms voucher.
You basically go to the discount site add how much you want for example £1000 but you would only pay £900 then receive an sms which you present to Comet by showing them the text on your phone.
In this case the discount would have been £66 for the 64GB 3G model but i'm tired of waiting for Comet to get any in store.
Exactly the same as me then, I am also waiting to do the SMS thing. I think we've got quite a wait ahead of us for our 10%! I'm happy to wait though, especially as I bought a refurb the other day but sent it straight back. I'm going to hold out for my 16GB wifi. When I spoke to someone through Comet Customer Services a couple of weeks ago, he said all the online orders were being filled first. ANy thoughts how long we'll be waiting?!
It seems its gonna be a longtime as there is hardly any stock anywhere. I just sold my iPad 1 yesterday for £500 and im already feeling the burn of not having an iPad. I doubt I'll wait for Comet as it seems to be taking ages.
Comet did say you can go to any of their stores and pay and once they have them in stock they will give you a bell to pick up. That does sort of limit your options tho.
I've already ordered an ipad 2 from Apple online and got £15 off but it doesn't ship till the 13th of May. If i can get one from Comet or from an Apple store earlier then I'll cancel my online order.

Been on the waiting list at Keighley Comet since day one for a iPad 32GB White 3G, however about two weeks later, I decided to put down a paid order
Was told it would take 10-14 days, and when I rang up monday, this is how the phone call went :
'Hi I was judt wondering if my iPad had come in the delivery today'
Comet worker - Let me just check. What's your name and size of the iPad'
'Clough and iPad 32gb 3G'
Comet worker - returns after 5 minutes later - Yep I think it's in, **This is where the conversation apparently differed between ourselves!**
I thought he said white one, but apparently he said whiteman!
I then headed down to comet, and got there - The guy at the till said it was in and scanned it. The man who I'd spoken to then went in the back, and came out saying he couldn't find it! Turns out when he said Whiteman, I thought he said white one
They then spent another 10 minutes looking in the back, and came out empty handed
I was then late for work, but what annoyed me was that not once of the employee's apologised I know it was my fault as much as theirs, but still, and they still didn't know when mines going to come in
I hope it's tommorow ( They only get delivery's every Monday and Thursday for iPads, as I want mine for the weekend when I go away! )

I ask because I'm probably going to bite the bullet on one this week, via that ipad-stock site, and it always seem to be Currys/PC World that get stock in. I assumed that if I ordered when it was in stock mine would arrive within a week or so, but are PCW/Currys yanking peoples chain? Should I wait for Argos or John Lewis to have stock?

I ordered on the 27th March, knowing that there were none in stock. The expected delivery date was unknown.
I know for a fact that they currently have stock in. However, they're trying to allocate things. I have been allocated an iPad and it should have been dispatched according to them. They now have a week to get this sorted, and for the product to get to me.
I'm just waiting on "Pasto Paulo" or whatever his/her name is to call me. Note that PCW took my money on order.

I feel a bit guilty, my Tesco order arrived the Monday after release date, and my Mrs' ipad arrived on the 14th from Apple, ordered at 1am on the 25th March.
next year i will just go to Regent St and queue from about 3pm, sounds like even people who queued from 7 got the one they wanted without any stress.
