Wow, sorry mate.

I feel a bit guilty, my Tesco order arrived the Monday after release date, and my Mrs' ipad arrived on the 14th from Apple, ordered at 1am on the 25th March.

next year i will just go to Regent St and queue from about 3pm, sounds like even people who queued from 7 got the one they wanted without any stress.

No worries - my fault for ordering with them

I ordered mine on Friday from PC World's website after it came back in stock and it's currently with DHL on route to me some I'm eagerly waiting by the front door

Which Friday? Which iPad model?

Been on the lookout for a Black wifi 16Gb for a couple of weeks. Signed up to www.ipad-stock.co.uk on Monday and received an alert yesterday at 10.17, to tell me John Lewis had stock. Ordered on-line and paid a little extra for next day delivery before 10.30, received at 10.15 today :D

I've just been on the Tesco website and it said there were 64GB + 3G black in stock, so I was like :D; then I click on it, went to checkout, made a new account and then click the yes button. It said my passwords didn't match, so I re-typed my passwords in and clicked the green tick. Then it said: "The iPad 2 64GB + 3G Black has gone out of stock" and I was like:  .

For the last few weeks I've been trying to catch one in the apple store by ringing them every morning; I've tried to order one with next day delivery, like Tesco, but, no. And now I'm  I want an iPad 2 64GB + 3G Black, now!!!

At least you still have your money :)

Nishi where abouts are you based. Im in london after the same exact model, tried the Tesco thing this morning and that didn't work either.

Im gonna try a few Apple stores on Friday morning

I'm in Manchester and my nearest Apple store is the Trafford Center, and even that's about an hour away.

What I do, at 10am, every day is ring Apple and see if there's been a shipment and if it's worth coming in. There last shipment was today, but it was only small. Then I go on this site and set up alerts so I can do my work and play on Portal 2, and if: Tesco, Argos, PC World, Currys, etc. update their website to say they have stock in (with 24 hour shipping), then it sounds an alert and I can order it ASAP, so I don't get in a situation like last time.

What's worse?

you don't have iPad and money, or just iPad?

If I ordered it then I wouldn't have an iPad or money for a few days, as I'll be waiting for it to ship.

But, I see what you're trying to say.

Try a month, next week :/

I guess stock in Apple stores are still fairly limited? Gonna be at West Quay Apple store tomorrow to try one out, doubt I'll want one (Kinda died down for me now) but could I get one if I wanted? or no?

Looks like my iPad was dispatched today, no tracking number as of yet. I'll call later to see if they have one on file.

Can I duck in here for a hijack question?

Last summer I went to London for vacation, with my then brand new iPad 1. My intention was to buy a prepaid data SIM for it. I tried everywhere...Orange, Voda, O2, etc. My only option was a mobile hotspot unit. No one would sell me a prepaid SIM without a UK ID and a matching billing address.

My question is, has this changed? Is it any easier to get a data plan while traveling without having to pay AT&T's ridiculous roaming fees?

I've never head of having to give your details to buy a PAYG sim before (though it's been a few years since I last bought one), perhaps you confused them by asking for "prepaid"? You can easily get them on eBay before you travel if it is the case these days.

Thanks, but none of those SIMs for sale seem to come preloaded with data. Yes, I did ask for prepaid last year.

With an empty card, I would have to top up in a shop, wherein the billing info is requested, based on my experience last year. Ideally, I would like to buy a card with a 2-4gb credit already on the card.

Ask for an O2 PAYG SIM for iPad :)

PCW: my iPad has been dispatched according to their systems. This was before 7PM.

No tracking number as of yet.

This is what you need http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5490866/Trail/searchtext>IPAD+SIM.htm

Some staff are most Cell companies here just try to sell contracts no matter what and wouldn't understand that your from the States and as such just need Pay As You Go (or as AT&T put it GoPhones).

The above link is the best price for 1GB data in the UK for prepay. It currently is just £5 but you could get one then try to change it to a phone sim by putting it in a phone and topping it up by £15 for unlimited (FU of 80GBs) But this loophole could be closed now.

Here begins my tale of iPad 2 woe:

Like the rest of you I was desperately searching here and there, I found one on the Comet site and ordered it, only for them to tell me the next morning they were out of stock and would hold my money until a new one came it, with no possibility of refund. After I pointed out to them that this amounted to theft they gave my money back.

Next I tried PC world, they took my money and again had no stock. They happily gave me cash back though!

After this I went to my local Apple re-seller. I live in Cheltenham and if they're any who lives there on here, you know how crap they are. There's one nice guy in there and he said I could put a 25% deposit down to get on their waiting list, if I found it anywhere else I could get a refund. That's a bit lame, but whatever beats waiting 3 weeks. So I did and walked out.

That night I was told that Argos had some in stock (I was after a 64 gig 3G in white). I ordered it then and there, thinking it was all done.

The payment was declined by my bank (most large payments without prior notice are these days to prevent fraud) but I called up the next day and Argos still had it, but would have to ship 2 days late. They promised it would be there by Friday, so I decided to try and get my deposit back from the Apple re-seller.

Turns out that no one had actually ever come in to ask for their deposit back, and when I asked, the staff all turned to each other in panic. A call to the manager later and I got my deposit back (on card, even though I paid in cash!).

The iPad was supposed to be shipped to my parents work, they own a restaurant so someone's there all day. Friday came and went. The delivery company for Argos (Home deliver network) first claimed that it was going to be delivered at 9pm, then that they couldn't find the place and had brought it back (it's the biggest building by far on the road and clearly a restaurant). This was around 8pm, when by the online tracking system it had gone back to the depot and the driver had finished his shift. The lady on the desk didn't even apologise, told me I must be reading it wrong (and implied that I couldn't read English well due to a foreign name).

Saturday rolled by, I called again and even though it was deemed a priority they forgot to load it onto a truck. The manager promised to call me back, which he never did. Eventually I gave up and threatened to burn down the warehouse and surrounding town to anyone who would listen.

It finally got delivered 5 days late. It seems this isn't anything out of the ordinary for Home Delivery Network, judging by the long list of death threats on the internet from customers who have either been ripped off or gotten their items very late. So If you're ordering your iPad online, ask for Royal Mail instead of these jokers!

Anyway I have it now and couldn't be happier! No backlight problems, battery seemed a little weak at first but it's been lasting well. I'm really surprised how much more data it eats compared to my iPhone. The only thing that's weird is I think the glass and bezel is slightly mis-aligned, I couldn't get the screen protector to sit straight and I think the glass has a bit more of a gap on the edge on one side. It's not noticeable so I don't care :)

Good luck to everyone trying to find one!

My mum made me laugh today, she was poking the screen of my MacBook Air... She thought it was touchscreen
