Starting Jan. 16th Verizon is ending their "new every 2" promotion. Current Verizon subscribers will have 1 more "grandfathered" upgrade, but new subscribers (those that buy the iphone 4 on verizon) will have to wait 2 years to get the upgrade price. There is an article in the WSJ.

the people feel like morons because they could have had something much better for the same price

Word is the Verizon iPhone 4 is the first of this with the CDMA side turned on and the GSM end totally castrated in production.
I bet we will see this iPhone 4G as a multi-mode phone with options to sell it via "pay as you go" plans. Virgin Mobile and Metro PCS has been wanting the iPhone for a long time. The app to track your expenses will be awesome!
+1. Ah well. It's still a great phone. But I will say if they put a much faster chip in it, I will be jealous.
Actually, I hate to say it but I have seen my iphone 4 lag some (already, it took my previous iphone a year at least before it started having noticeable lag issues). And I'm absolutely sure it's not data speed related as it is when I'm doing stuff like playing games (for example) or loading up a program.
It's not really annoying (yet) except for the fact I find it worrisome it already has some issues with lag and they haven't even replaced it with a newer one yet!
I cant imagine Apple abandoning their Tic-Tic update pattern for the iPhone. A speed bump is all i would expect from the '5'
When they say completely redesigned, they mean new SoC, radio and radio provider (qualcomm). The aesthetics will only change as the antenna band has to accommodate CDMA and GSM frequencies.
Who's stopping you?Would defiantly get that iPhone/iPad if these rumors are true.
iPhone will always improve. That's a given. The big leap with iOS was to 3.0, which was a response to Palm Pre. So yes, of course competition will help move things along quicker. However, that doesn't necessitate a redesign of the antenna or case etc.

I rest my case.
duh it's different technology, different frequencies. Different antenna needed.
Yeah because no-one is buying iPhone 4.. HAHA "I haven't heard about the iPhone's antenna for months. " - .Shine
Would defiantly get that iPhone/iPad if these rumors are true. Can't wait to see what apple has in store for us, I guess the next thing will be the upgraded iPad so it's all a matter of time

While you're at it better wait for Iphone 6. It'll surely be better than 5. Personally I'm waiting for Iphone 7.
