Wow 3 pages in and no one has posted the "shut up and take my money" futurama picture? Must be a record!

I'm in :)

As a photographer, I've been waiting for a Retina Display iPad to come to market. With a Quad Core processor and possibly 128GB of storage, it becomes a viable photo processing tool. Now let's see Aperture (or a companion app) released for iOS.

High res screen
Quad core CPU
128GB storage
1GB RAM
Improved cameras

That would be quite an upgrade!

I really can't wait to see what the screen looks like. Also, I hope it'll be available soon after the announcement.

... In Canada we get free tethering so why pay for 3G? I'll tell you why, when I travel to the States and have to pay $10-$20/night for wi-fi in the hotel. Suddenly 3G became a lot more attractive since I could get 200mb for $15 or 2GB (or what would be virtually unlimited for a few days out of the country) for $30. ...

You must stay in really nice hotels. I find that Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden, etc. all offer free WiFi (of varying quality). The Sheratons, et al pretty much charge for WiFi. Odd. The pricier the hotel the fewer amenities they offer.

i hope i can sell my 32GB iPad 2 to some fool on ebay for nearly the price of the 16GB iPad 3 ^^

i hate having outdated things, its my ocd

I predict that quad-core will expand the ways we can use iPads to replace full-fledged computers, and iOS 6 will all be about app integration and multitasking.

I don't see them upping to 128gb. It could happen but I dunno, seems like too much in one refresh. Apple is known for holding something back so they can add it next time and flash memory is still expensive. I'd like to see it happen, 32/64/128, but still. Bigger battery, 4g, retina display, better cameras...that's a hell of a lot.

I think 2012 is the Year of the Retina Display for Apple so don't be surprised to see a "Retina" display in a Mac this year - most likely the up-coming MB Pro 15" revamp. But March 7 couldn't come soon enough. I read a lot so the Retina display is enough to sell me on one.

Great for everything except gaming. Mac video cards already can't run games on anything but medium or lower settings, so now those same games on a retina display at native resolution won't run at all, if that resolution is even supported by the drivers/video cards. If you don't run native it always looks like crap, for me at least. Seems like a lose-lose as far as gaming is concerned. Obviously Macs aren't gaming machines but I think enough people play games on them for it to be an issue.

the hotels my company puts me up in always charge out the butt for everything, I'm sure a lot do it because for business/wealthy people that's chump change

With regard to 4G/LTE my thoughts go to:

What are the carriers building out? If the buildout is substantially LTE, then LTE would be desirable to future proof the iPad 3. If not LTE, I am still inclined to the current 3G capability merely for the GPS.

If it is LTE, I'd prefer it being one of the low power devices that were scheduled for spring even if that constrains production initially.

Higher resolution screen? Great
LTE? Irrelevant for me.

Probably pass, save up for getting the iPhone 5/6 off contract.

Are the rates lower for a phone without a contract? I would assume so but I have never see the rates posted.

EDIT: I guess that's a "gophone" plan.

Shut up and take My money!

This is why I'm sceptical that Apple will put LTE into the next iPad, because unless they offer a 3G+Wifi option in addition, everyone in countries without LTE will be paying for something that they'll never use.

Read for Retina and quad core ...that alone will be a reason for me to retire my iPad 2.
LTE depend on the behavior of the telecoms here in Japan; if theathering is fine I'm in; if not I stay with my current plan and go off-contract.

[childish]Why is March still sooo long away, and this Feburary even have one day more [/childish]

So now I have 6 weeks of restless nights dreaming of my iPad 3... Thanx Apple ;-) :)

Serious day 1 purchase. I read a lot on my iPad, Retina display alone is worth the upgrade for me.

If Jim is so good at confirming, why can't he start the rumors himself?

Also... since Apple has a history of being so secretive... why do they say anything to Jim when he ends up telling everybody?

If it is just 3G then it will probably just be a couple of weeks.

If it has LTE then it likely still needs FCC clearance and that could be a couple of months, so we might get another wifi now, cell data later like the iPad 1

any news on how much ram there will be?

they should definitely be bumping it up to 1 gb at least..

Also I hope these apps actually take advantage of the retina display, that would be a make it or break it for me

No more excuses, as long as it comes wih retina this will be my first iPad, i cannot wait!!
