The 3D feature on maps is very cool, but doesn't really help a person find out how to get somewhere. I feel the same way about Siri. When I asked Siri to find the nearest supermarket, it missed the closest three. Same with hardware stores. Why would I ask Siri to open an app when all I have to do is tap it to open it myself? I have to press the home button to activate Siri anyway. Cheese.
Yes, Apple will improve their maps over time but I can't see them sending out fleets of camera equipped cars to reproduce streetview that Google did anytime soon. Public transportation notations like where subway stops are in relation to your location are now completely absent. That's a big deal where I live. I use that on my iPhone a lot.
If you remove the gimmicky features, I'm left with improvements like facebook integration and redesigned content stores. So far, the "do not disturb" feature is my favorite of the truly practical improvements.
