I have an iPad 2, but I have to say that Safari is definitely quicker with iOS 6.

This is the biggest difference I noticed on my iPad 3. Safari is definitely faster.
Siri is a neat party trick, but I don't find it very useful.
New settings menu is also easier to use.

I felt the same. New AppStore is like GooglePlay. I miss the old but efficient AppStore. Ad free YouTube was nice too.

We have to remember today is iPhone 5 launch day so I'm guessing the App Store will be getting hammered.

mixed experience. It's laggy and slow overall.
But Safari is faster without question.
App Store is getting better since last night. I don't know why. I'm sure, Apple guys have been working their asses off to fix various issues.

Compared to my new iPad, the iPhone 4s did a bit worse with the ios6.:(

Siri - quite good, but I hope they will add more languages soon (Czech for me)
Maps - not good right now
Facebook integration - I don't use that
Safari - quicker
App Store - laggy when scrolling
Clock app - very nice

But it seems that the battery is running down faster. Overall - not worth to upgrade...

Actually, I like everything about the update save for two things.

1. I don't like the new layout of viewing Apps in the App Store. Particularly when it comes to the search function. It looks beautiful with the cards and such, but I can only view 1 single app on the screen at a time. They really should allow you to view them in list-view or something. Back in the day, when you did a search, you can see several apps at the same time across ipad and iphone apps. This is the one pet peeve I have with the new App Store and I hope they change it. Other browsing sections allow you to change the way you view the apps but not the Search function (which by far is the one I need it the most with).

2. Maps in only the case that it needs more time to grow and get better. Most places can't take advantage of the new visual functionality of the app.

However, I'm one of the luckier ones who do live in areas where the general maps functions work quite well. Including Navigation.

But some odd exceptions to my beef with it.

In my developed area, it actually trumps the Google one by actually being aware precisely where current construction is going on. I was a bit surprised to see something new so developed where the app itself seemed a bit behind.

Another thing is that I do appreciate the new turn-by-turn navigation, and that in itself is using better tech than my previous navigation tools on the previous client. It definitely allows me to navigate with a much more hands-free method.

Still, it may have to do with the idea that my state and/or area was further developed in the map service than some others may be experiencing.

Siri is a joke.
I tried to dictate a note and it got many words incorrect.

I then thought opening apps by speaking would be cool- but you have to tap the Siri button to activate- so what's the point?
Just tap the App icon.

For those that like it:
How do you guys use it?

I'm not sure if someone else has said this but I use Siri to open an app when I'm on the lock screen. Also I have a bunch of apps in folders and sometimes navigating to the app can be more of a hassle than simply asking Siri to open it, even if I know exactly where it is.

Siri, imo, has gotten the biggest upgrade software wise. She's much more responsive and way way faster than before. Plus I can ask about sports scores, the number one thing I usually am trying to look up.

----------

iTunes Match was in iOS 5- what's changed?

Instead of having to DL the music to play it, you can stream directly from the iTunes Match servers. A feature Android has had, still one I am most excited about.

My 32GB iPhone and iPad can now be filled up with games and apps instead of music, and I'll still have my 8000 songs at a click away!

Sports and restaurants are definitely among the best things to ask Siri now. It's really good at that. I'll give it that. If only I could mentally talk to Siri instead of talking vocally, I can fake being a Sports Wiz.

This is probably a really stupid question, but how the hell do I get to Siri on the iPad? Heard that you are supposed to hold down the home button, but nothing happens. It's a 3rd generation.

If you have 3rd generation iPad and iOS6, and holding down the Home Button for a sec or two doesn't start Siri up, then check your general settings. There will be a Siri selection I there. Click on that to enter Siri settings and make sure it is turned on. Take note, You should be connected to the Internet before using Siri as it is highly connected to the Internet for doing what she does.

Also, I take back a bit of what I said about the Search feature for the App Store, but ONLY on the iPad. I still don't like it for the iPhone as it is too restrictive to one app per screen. On the iPad, however, this works a whole lot better and allows you to browse a good number of apps at a time. The card view works many times better on iPad for it really utilizes the screen real-estate, viewing a good number of apps at a time.

Siri is freaking awesome. I dont have a iPhone so I've been waiting for this.

Definitely worth the upgrade for Siri alone.
I really like the clock app, good for my day trading and knowing what time my friends and family are in an easy format. Alarm is intuitive, and stopwatch/timer is great for my Diablo 3 auctions ;)

I just can't believe there is no Youtube app. I said it before, Youtube is 90% of my iPad use.

I am finding new use for siri to open apps directly from the lockscreen on my iphone (which I disabled).

For the ipad, it should theoretically work just as well. However, in practice, I found that since most owners typically have a casing with an in-built smart cover, you will automatically be at your home screen once you flip open the cover anyways. So I find there is less incentive to wait for siri over just tapping on the app icon. :p

Does anyone know if siri can now be used to toggle wifi/bluetooth settings? I don't mean just going to the settings screen.

I enjoy it. I love that its basically iOS 5 with a few little bonuses. It just feels fresher. The social integration is awesome, especially the Tap to Tweet and Tap to Post buttons (but mainly the Tap to Tweet).

I also really like Siri. She's not always useful, but for making reminders and setting alarms, searching the weather, and finding sports scores, she's perfect.

I almost miss the YouTube app, but I just use Safari for that now. Maps isn't a deal breaker for me.

I absolutely LOVE siri (Haven't had an iphone since original so I'e never experienced it before) I am constantly amazed at the types of questions she will answer. I just wish there was an easier way to activate here, but I'm guessing when it's jailbroken you can use activator to change it. I'll probably just change it to one tap of the home button.

I don't miss the youtube app as I used the website version more, I'll probably download the google one when it's released, though mobile youtube in general is pretty useless as a LOT of videos are disabled when browsing on a mobile device.

Maps are very "meh". The 3d views of big cities is nice, but thats about it. just about everything else is worse than googles.

Do not disturb is a welcome feature. I can now keep my ipad on my nightstand and not be woken up by random alerts from apps throughout the night.

Other than that I haven't noticed anything different. I really miss my jailbreak, but the utility of siri has outweighed the utility of jailbreak, for now.

Home sharing doesn't work. Period.

The little circle in Video sharing gets only about half shaded, then stops.
And the little spinner for the music home sharing just endlessly spins.
And yes, I updated my iTunes software.

This sucks.

I apologize for giving not giving credit for this image (can't find the original post)

But I couldn't stop laughing after seeing this...

ios6 is saddening for me because using the new maps app really underscores that the ipad3 has the bare minimum processing power to drive that screen. both the flyover view and the new vector road maps run extremely choppy.

just worried that as beefier processors like the A6 come along, things that could run just fine on existing hardware will be "upgraded" similarly to maps and somehow require more "oomph" to deliver an equivalent experience to what what came before. another example is the new app store. it is also extremely choppy when dragging to scroll, but smooth when you "flick" to scroll. which suggests they haven't optimized the drag event handling in that view, and probably will never bother, either, if they know newer hardware will be able to compensate for it.

i know hardware eventually becomes dated and unable to run "the latest stuff"; it just seems to happen at a faster rate on mobile devices. which is problematic given that these mobile platforms are still relatively new, and still incrementally rolling out basic functionality like adding attachments to emails. so you upgrade to get those little things, but at the expense of seemingly less efficient OS overall.

Not sure yet, I'm finding it laggy. I might to a restore and see if that sorts it out.

Upgrading from within a device just adds the changes. Doing a full iTunes upgrade replaces the OS, thus ironing out bugs and things from previous OS versions.

Wish I could go back to 5

I really miss the YouTube app.
The YouTube app for iPhone is great IMO, and I can't wait for the iPad version.
I use YouTube A LOT.
Siri is cool, but I have to adopt an English accent.
He doesn't understand my Northern Irish accent.
I say 'how' and he hears 'hi'.
Asides from that, not noticing much difference in speed.
Perhaps battery life is down a wee bit.
Can't see the point of it yet.

Thanks for sharing, iOS 6 will not come near my flawless running iPad 3. :p

Mine is faster than it was with iOS 5.1.1, so I wouldn't worry about it lagging. Go download iOS 6! :)

Siri on both my iPhone 4S and iPad are both VERY accurate and rarely ever make mistakes. If you have an app in a folder and cannot find it, it's great to be able to just ask Siri to open it for you.

Is it possible to play youtube video fullscreen with iOS 6 on the iPad?

Not currently, but Google have announced they will be releasing a YouTube app for iPad in the coming months.

I have the iPad 3rd gen. I couldn't care less about what iOS6 has to offer. If anything, losing a maps app that works for something that Apple put out half assedly, is not worth it.

I don't talk to my iPad, so Siri is wasted space. I don't FB so I could care less about the integration.

The only thing I was interested in would be the clock/alarm feature, but as a friend so kindly pointed out to me... "There's an app for that".

I think this is the first iOS update that I had a current device for, that I didn't want to upgrade to....

I have also advised my mother not to update her iP4 since she likes and uses the maps app, and since we don't live in the States, chances are Apple has bungled the maps app for Canada.

Not worth it.

Plus a lot of complaints about wifi issues etc.
