iPad 2 Glass

I know one of the rumors continues to be that the iPad 3 will not have a home button. Leaks of the glass seem to suggest that the home button will be present, but will it? It seem highly probably that Apple is going to continue making iPad 2s, it is possible that the glass in this video, and other leaks, is for the iPad 2 and not the iPad 3.

Guess we will find out Wednesday!

amazing music

Indeed! I was going to buy the all new iPad3, but instead I am going to invest heavily in this bands total back catalogue of original sounds the like of which no human ear has heard before.

Totally original, incredible music.

Oh wait isn't this from Beverley Hills Cop 2?

For the people complaining about no design change how would you change it?

I cannot think of a way to change it and keep it slim. What do you want a Triangle iPad? I really hope you do not want a 16:9 iPad. All glass iPad like the iPhone? What? Tell me because I cannot see a way to change it.

Hey the triangle tablet for Dunder Mifflin, Sabre works so don't hate on the triangle tablet!

love it!! But seriously, did this video prove anything we didn't already know? theres no way apple would release an almost exact design as the last one but make us rebuy those darn 80$ covers (leather obviously)

It blows my mind the extent of what people do before a new iDevice, like a hypothetical reconstruction.

Anyway, I didn't see the point of this. It gives no new insight into the device, other than 'it will look the same'. We all know the biggest deal will be the new screen and internals.

I personally think they leak certain devices on purpose in order to calm our expectations. The 4 inch "iPhone 5" (4S) screen, for example. And the fact that it was going to be a 4S, and not a 5. I think it's meant to taper down people hopes to a certain extent.

I find it funny how much Apple allowed this product to leak. It is like companies don't care about corporate secrets any more. One of the most leaked products ever. To be fair it wouldn't hard to predict Apple's product line up for the next few years.

Its not that they don't care, its more that the fanatical following makes it hard to keep these things under wrap considering how many people have their hand on the product. Sure its possible for Apple to keep under wraps the development but the building and parts is another story.

Either way knowing before hand will not in any way stop me or anyone who wants one from getting one. I know I will be getting one as soon as I can, and selling off my iPad 2 once I have one. Will I buy one the first day out, probably not I will wait for a month or two let the rush and madness go first then in a relaxed atmosphere get my sweet new toy.

Oh and as for events. Steve is dead, don't expect the Steve like atmosphere to be the norm any more. I think we will get some good information but no show like Jobs brought to the stage. :roll eyes: I will admit it will take a few years to get over Jobs showmanship addiction. They where always a welcome part of owning an Apple product.

the leaks are the price you pay for having the product available for launch,or with in few weeks, it would be easy to keep it a complete secret if they stated a 6 month launch window, Apple know people want them as soon as that are announced so they ramp production months in advance, unfortunately the result of this is its impossible to keep the parts from getting leaked.

Does it still only have one speaker? Would love a stereo one, or at least a more robust speaker.

If the iPad 3 doesnt have a quad core CPU and improved graphics chip, I dont see how it could compete with other upcoming tegra 3 tablets. The casual users, which make up most of the iPad's market, will ofcourse lap it up regardless, but as tablets are being geared more towards gaming these days it would make people think twice. Same for the power users.

I can see something like the new Transformer Prime due out in a few months as being some serious competition in both the business end and for gamers. The screen res may take a slight hit, but if it ends up being the case of quad core prime vs dual core ipad 3, the answer is simple.

Yes the screen resolution might be amazing, but if it doesnt have the power behind it, it could end up being a laggy mess.

Also, I'm not entirely sure why I am typing something constructive on here, as it will most likely be downvoted into oblivion due to me questioning Apple. But oh well, I was bored anyway.

The only reason you'll get downvoted is because the average user doesn't care about these specs and doesn't even know what a Transformer Prime is. And anyone who's been paying any attention to Apple for the last few years knows that they have perfected the art of getting all the power they can out of the existing hardware and streamlining the software rather than just putting raw horsepower under the hood and hoping that someday they'll have enough power to properly run the OS.

Did you ever once while using your iPad 2 think to yourself, "Man, I really wish this thing had a quad core." I sure as hell didn't. Infinity Blade II ran like butter. So did all my other apps. Never once wished it was a faster tablet.

The 4 inch screen didn't calm expectations, if anything it raised them. If they're going to control a leak I doubt it's going to be about something that people really wanted but won't be getting.

Retina display itself is enough to justify the upgrade from an iPad 2 for $200-$300. Higher end CPU and GPU are just icing on the cake. Just because you lack the funds to upgrade, don't dump on the party for the rest of us. K? :)

The lack of funds to upgrade? lol You dont know me man. Its not that I dont have money to upgrade, I just dont see the point of upgrading just for a better screen. This is similar to upgrading from an iPhone 4 to a 4s. Not worth it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick to death with all these iPad 3 rumors. The very fabric of Steve Jobs is being stabbed in the heart by this obsession to know everything before it debuts. The famed "One more thing..." is being crucified until there are no secrets. There aren't any surprises. At least we don't know anything about the Mac Pros. And before anyone tells me that I can "change the channel" I can't. It's either I comb through rumors with pictures and specs to get to anything else going on, or nothing.

Would be nice to create a "ThinkSecret" area on the site, and remove this stuff from those of us that want to stick to the facts.

This seems like the first time we've seen a side view of the thickness up against an iPad 2 (unless I missed something earlier). The difference is so small that it really won't make much of a difference. If you didn't tell people, I don't see how they'd ever notice.

Now that I do know about it, the extra few millimeters is so preposterous that I refuse to buy one.
