With Steve still around this would not have happened :[ iPhone 4S wouldn't have worse battery life than the predecessor, iPad 3 wouldn't be fatter than its predecessors. :(

and the iphone 3g wouldn't have been thicker than the original iphone... oh wait

Outrageous!

Big, fat, piece of crap.

Imagine trying to sell us a chubby tablet.

Raise a cry to the heavens...this shall not be!!!

The nerve...

  :D

Sometimes, an arrow down (no "arrow to the knee" jokes please) just isn't enough...

Are these the same people that weren't able to properly use a micrometer when measuring the thickness of the white iPhone 4?

Unacceptable.

Steve would have NEVER allowed this. He doesn't believe in making products thicker, only thinner.

/sarcasm. :)

Now, come on Apple, announce it next week and make it available the week of March 12-16. :p

yes! I'm now ready to get an iPad, even if I still don't have a use case! Well, I bring the office development iPad 2 once in a while. My wife is starting to like it.

I'm surprised you weren't voted down by people who don't understand sarcasm... ;-)

What?! An iDevice getting thicker instead of thinner?!!! Thats preposterous!! :)

I know. Folks want a better display, a better battery, etc and are freaking out about a size change so slight that they probably won't even notice it until someone points it out to them. Or they try to put on a snug fit case.

Wow, that's just ridiculous. I totally won't buy an iPad 3 now. It's too fat!

(sarcasm :) )

ahhhhh, you beat me to it. but i'm going to use the term i hear on here all the time.

what!! it's almost a full dime's width thicker?? that's a deal breaker!!!

as for me, i'll be in line for this one!! this is a massive update! iPad 3 should get me though to iPad 5 or 6. this blows away my iPad 2. it's a must upgrade!! can't wait to see what new apps will get a demo on march 7th. i hope apple has a new app or two also. aperture would be nice!!

Those gosh darn metric system thingies are too hard. How'm I supposed to measurement somethin' smaller than a tick turd?

The difference between the original iPad and iPad 2 was 4.40mm. This is only a 0.80 difference. Should be hardly noticeable. Let's just hope the weight doesn't go up too much.

This is just the back shell, what about the front face and glass? If Apple are using a thinner glass surely the overall thickness will be close to the iPad 2???

Man, I am so excited!

No biggie for me. I found the iPad 2 a bit to thin/sharp to hold bare anyway. I put mine in a soft TPU case anyway. Either way it is till smaller than original iPad.

Is anyone else have a bit of trouble buying these photos as legit given that the angles are turned such that you can't really see what is being measured with accuracy.

I don't doubt that perhaps the iPad 3 is a tad bit thicker than the iPad 2 with the rumors of a new display etc. But I don't know that I can buy these measurements as being confirmation of that rumor or the exact details

It could be 1 cm thicker for all I care, the only thing that bugs me is that this probably means it's going to be heavier, and I want lighter.
Hey, they should make it 1 cm thicker and fill every cavity with helium! :D

This.

I want to be able to hold it in one hand without putting too much strain on my wrist. I have the original iPad and it's a tad too heavy.

Sarcasm as it may be, I don't think he'd be super happy about making it thicker.
