Sounds like horrible communication, but as a former Best Buy employee please try to be patient with them....99% of them aren't trying to "screw you" or stick it to you or anything.
If the merch is physically in the store, but doesn't show up in the system, they can't legally give it to you because there would be no way to finalize the transaction in the system.
I agree - the communication has been poor all around. But at this point it's not the particular employees' faults.
