Sounds like horrible communication, but as a former Best Buy employee please try to be patient with them....99% of them aren't trying to "screw you" or stick it to you or anything.

If the merch is physically in the store, but doesn't show up in the system, they can't legally give it to you because there would be no way to finalize the transaction in the system.

I agree - the communication has been poor all around. But at this point it's not the particular employees' faults.
 
I got my iPad air 2 64 gb gold wifi at best buy just now in Morgantown wv without a preorder so you guys may want to call I called before I went and said they was available online
 
Best Buy probably has the worst customer service of any company. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with someone yesterday I could barely understand and spent most of the call either repeating myself, or asking her to repeat herself. I asked her to transfer me to a different person, then she put me on hold for 10 minutes. Haha wtf.
 
Walked into my local BestBuy 30 minutes ago, asked if they had the new Air 2. They did. Asked if they could sell it, they said they weren't supposed to start until tomorrow, but their manager had told them to go ahead, so I got mine.

I pre ordered mine and called my store today and they said will not release until tomorrow. It clearly shows on the website and the email confirmation that the release date is 10/24/2014. I've plugged in cities from all over the country including the morgantown, virginia from the poster above who said they walked in and picked one up. Every single location shows a status of pre-order with a release date of 10/24/2014. If you've been able to get one from a Best Buy anywhere already consider yourself lucky, because that store is wrong in doing so.

If my store wasn't 38 miles away I'd probably go in and try and harangue them into giving me the one I pre ordered today. It says its ready for pickup. People who ordered straight from Apple are getting theirs already. Apple Stores are selling them. If Best Buy locations have them in stock they should be releasing them instead of waiting for some arbitrary date. But I'll wait until tomorrow.

What's worse is that the manager said I wouldn't be getting it tomorrow either - they have none and no shipments coming. Customer service confirmed that it's listed 30-day back-order.

Canceled my order and won't be shopping at BestBuy again...ever.
 
My Apple Rep buddy at my local Best Buy (Frisco, TX) said there is no embargo.....if they have one they can sell it.

If a store is saying no, it must mean they just aren't ready yet.....

I'm still waiting to find out if they got any cellular versions in the shipment they just received.

Maybe your specific color and storage space and carrier if applicable. It is would be ridiculous that they will not have any iPad Air 2s tomorrow.

Miami here. I walked in, asked if they had it in stock, asked if they were selling it, bought it and walked out. YMMV, but I had a singularly trouble-free experience.
 
I was regretting not going to Best Buy because I didn't find out about the iPad 2 trade in offer. Now I'm pretty happy with going to the Apple Store. I'll definitely be using the Apple Store in future years too.

Thats terrible. I think I'd probably have to get escorted out of the store. The guy selling washing machines on the other side of the store would be able to hear the words coming out of my mouth.

What a joke. Folks are pre ordering, getting emails saying ready for pickup and getting denied and other folks are just able to walk into a store and get one in 5 minutes.

And I would've been there in the store having a good laugh at the fool you'd be making of yourself....

It's one day. It's a tablet. Relax. These employees are not out to get you - you aren't that important. At best, its a system glitch. At worst, its just poor communication/planning.

Everyone should be required to work retail/wait tables. Understand what it's like to be treated like sh** for something out of your control.

That whole line "the customer is always right" is such ************. The customer is an ass a majority of the time. I had all manner of people fly off the handle over the most ridiculous things when I worked there.

Amazed me.

All you have to do is exactly what the person you quoted did. Cancel and take your money elsewhere. No need to make a scene.....it doesn't make anything better.

If I drove 38 miles to my best buy to pick up my ipad air 2 that they said would be waiting there for me and it isnt there you are damn straight I would be making a scene. And I give two ***** what you think coolbreeze.

I have been in retail for 20yrs.It makes me so mad when I have to deal with someone who has no clue what is going on.I don't have the answers to everything that comes up where I work, but I will do what it takes to get the answer.
I called my local Best Buy today.The I asked the lady if they had the Air pad air 2.She said she was not sure they may get them tomorrow or in a few days.

If you are going to be answering the phone or dealing with customers face to face you owe it to them to know what is going on.Don't give me a half ass answer.If you don't know just say let me check on that for you and ask someone who does know.You can't make everyone happy but at least put a little effort into trying.
 
I don't see the LTE iPads listed on Best Buy's website.... are they selling those models? Or will they only be carrying WiFi versions?
 
I spoke to a manager at the Best Buy. Only people who DIDN'T preorder are picking them up today, if there are some available.

The people who DID preorder won't be able to pick up till tomorrow. Oh, the irony. But the system will not allow preorders to be picked up till tomorrow.

I don't know how this company is still in business. Kicking myself for ordering from them. Only reason I did is for the discover cash back and the 10% off movers coupon.
 
Hello! Quick question about the Best Buy trade in. I did it yesterday and got $301 for my iPad Air trade in. But, the rep said I wouldn't get the $50 coupon for my iPad Air 2 preorder since $301 is over the $200 minimum trade in. No coupon printed off with the sheet they gave me. Has anybody else experienced this? Thanks!

Hopefully my preorder will be delivered instore tomorrow after the email/text fiasco today!

And your post seems to confirm my suspicion. Some people are reporting that you are supposed to receive the $50 coupon regardless of what the trade-in value is. However, I'm pretty sure the rep was correct in saying that the coupon will only print out if your trade-in value is less than $200. I'm still waiting on some other people to confirm this.
