Take that out

You think I'm that dumb? That's the address of the BBY store at the Hancock Center on Michigan Ave Chicago.

I'm not rich like Chris Farley was when he died on the 60th floor of that building.

Can I ask where you are? I just called the BB I am supposed to pick it up at, and they gave me some BS answer about how its not ready until tomorrow because they have to "pick it" but they don't have it in stock yet. She blamed it on the website for being confusing. I have no idea what she was talking about - it was the most ridiculous call. Bottom line - I was sent on my way being told that it would be ready tomorrow (friday) despite having texts and the website telling me it was ready for pickup.

I'm at best buy right now in California.

I received a text message saying my air 2 was ready for pickup the the clueless staff are checking to see if they are "allowed" to release it to me because they are saying that launch day is not until tomorrow.

How is it BS?

The release date pretty much was known to anyone following these IPads was for Friday. Now that may not be etched in stone as to actually what happens with SOME retailers so while it can be misleading, BB will tell you it was NEVER ANYTHING BUT FRIDAY! Where was it stated otherwise???

If something happened with the pickup notification besides that date, it was an error. Ipads were never intended to be released until Friday by BB. So one can wave that email notification in front of BB all they want but ....

Attached is what you see in your cart before you buy it. It say "Order today, pickup on release date".

What you say is correct - they may have never had any intention of releasing it on a day other than friday (even though original pre-orders were actually for the 23rd, thursday, which they had to change). However, I believe that "release date" for an apple product is commonly understood by consumers as the day they are available at retail. All other launches have been that way and there was no reason to believe that this would be any different. That is the implication they are making when they use those words.

I agree with what you are saying that technically they never stated otherwise (except for when they stated that it would be the 23rd, thursday), and I also agree with you that it can be misleading - which was my original point.

Please let us know how that goes for you! Good luck.

Haha. They are confused and clueless. The asst manager is on the phone with "corporate".

From the bits of conversation I can hear they aren't sure they have them in the store.

Now they're trying to see when the UPS driver is coming back.

If I pull the site up on my iPhone it shows pick up today the 23rd all of the way to the point of entering payment info.the same site on my iMac shows tomorrow.
How screwed up is that.I also got screwed by their error that had the Space grey listed as silver,so who knows what bs i will have to go through to get it swapped for the silver one. This whole process how been a nothing but a pain since the start.
This will be the last preorder Best Buy gets from me.

After reading about the extra $50 trade in from BB, we went back to BB and traded in husbands iPad 4, canceled his order for the 64gb Space Gray and bought a gold 64gb using the gift card/$50 credit and paid for the difference. It wasn't the color that he wanted, but it will work. Once a case is on it, the color won't really show anyway. He is now setting it up. They do not have one single case for the iPad Air 2, in stock or in the back, although when you look at them online, it shows that some are available for pickup today. They are not sure what is up with that. They even went into the back and checked again to be sure. Customer Service at our local BB was very helpful.

LOL how can you not know where that much $$$ worth of inventory is stashed? I really wish I had an Apple Store where I live. It sucks that we have to deal with the blue people.

Did you tell them that people have already been receiving theirs in the mail from Apple? Like a lot of people??

I just walked out.

They say they can't give me the IPad until tomorrow, but they already had me sign for delivery saying that I accepted it. They told me "not to worry about it" and that they would remember that I still needed to get mine tomorrow.

I said no way and demanded a refund.

What a clown show. No wonder Best Buy is losing so much money.

I would never sign something saying I picked it up if I hadnt actually done it.

I have the issue with Space Gray listed as silver as well. When I went the the store the manager had a print out tag of my order that was correct in that it was the Gray sku. Even though the listing said silver, it has the correct sku. So, whenever they do get my gray one in it won't be a problem.

iPad Air 2 in Stock Today at Best Buy

At the time they told me they were bringing it up from the back room and I thought that if they were reluctant about releasing it before launch day I could stick it to them by saying I had already signed for the item.

Yikes. Glad you didn't let them try to pull a fast one on you. Those blue people probably wanted to steal your iPad Air 2! Typical blue people.

Did you ask them what is the purpose of the BS?

Btw in my caseI called them twice before going to the store to see if they can preorder using my trade in coupon. They said yes. Even asked them to double check with a manager, they said yes. I went to the store just to see the same guy on the phone not being able to do it. What a waste of 30 minutes!

After being told they didn't have mine this morning despite the ready for pickup notification, I received a call from the customer service desk that it was now there as of about an hour ago. I just picked it up and thankfully it was the correct color and model. So it looks like they just didn't get their delivery truck with the new iPads until right before noon.

Wellington,FL

Checked my pre-order status (64GB Space Grey) and it says ready for pickup. Went to the store at 10:45AM and they said they didn't have them yet. Not sure if I should try again this afternoon or wait until tomorrow.

At this point I'm so baffled by Best Buy that I'm worried about actually getting a unit at all from them - clearly they don't know how to handle even a release as simple as this one.

Just called my best buy and told them that others are getting them from other best buy stores and he said alright I can come pick it up. Glad they changed their minds.

Headed back there now

Just got back from the store myself.

Got the notification to come pick it up, went to the store, and the associates spent a good 15 minutes talking about whether or not to release it to me.

Then after all that, they said that they don't have them in stock, which is B.S. I asked them when will it be in then? And they said hopefully tomorrow or the next few days. The associates couldn't care less. At least pretend to give a damn for wasting my time...

I called corporate to complain and they spoke with the manager who said that they can't release them until tomorrow. They can't even get their stories straight. At least the customer service person I spoke with over the phone was nice and gave me a $10 gift card for my troubles. I will take this as a lesson learned and next time I'll make the longer trip to an Apple store.

Ok the trick Is that they need to check their inventory system. Once they do that they will see that they can release it.
My best buy agent just told me that

They checked it at my store and it came up as eligible for release, but they still didn't want to give it to me before they came up with the not in stock excuse.

I'm at one now in California and they are looking in the back. Website on mobile lists 64gb gold in stock. We'll see...

So they did have 16gb they were will to sell but the 64gb I wanted was still in transit. He said they list them as available because they know the exact number they have (11) which could be purchased online and obviously ready to go when they arrive.

I'm leaving for town tomorrow so I'm just going to try my luck later tonight.
