We don't have an Apple Store but we've got various network stores. I went into the Three store about 1pm on launch day and had a play with both new iPhones. They had lots of iPhone 6s available but no 6+s.

I didn't get one though, don't see either of them as that much of an upgrade over the 5s.

Yeah but that's different. A lot of Service providers have iPhone 6s.

It's the Apple store that is limited in stock of iPhones, the people who want to buy outright and not be tied in.

You can buy outright from the service providers. Device isn't unlocked but you can get it unlocked after the phone has been out for a certain amount of time.

Just buy from your current operator and then get it unlocked in a while. Only time this wouldn't work is if your contract is about to end and you're going to move to another provider - in which case you could just buy from the new provider instead.

WOW I completely forgot about the pre order when I woke up this morning, snoozed the alarm and now after a casual breakfast I suddenly remember (stupidly I was up till past midnight last night checking the store) and its 11.50 now and NOTHING?!

Whats up with that? Very odd. Never seen :apple: do that before. I guess 8am US time, what time will this be in the UK?

You couldn't on release day I can guarantee you that. As all providers make good commission on providing contracts, otherwise no business

I went into my local town the weekend of the iPhone 6, every carrier shop had a display with no phone on it and a wait time of a few weeks.

But there's also those of us that are at work all day and can't just go to the store, so we pre-order so it's waiting for us when we get home.

I didn't ask so I can't refute what you're saying, but I bought both my iPhone 5 and my iPhone 5s only days after release and I bought them both outright.

Yeah but those were regular releases, everyone could get those ones. The 6 was a massive release.

Yeah I'm lucky to work in the heart of the city centre, only a 5 minute walk to the stores so I can go in my lunch hour.

First of all I don't want to have to request my phone to be unlocked or have to pay for the privilege. Second of all I'm on a SIM only contract and can't sign up for a subsidised phone contract. Also iPhones and iPads are much harder to get a hold of then you make it out to be. On the iPad Air launch it was impossible to walk into a store and just buy one. The same thing with the unlocked iphone 6 plus.

What do you mean? Like I say my store had lots of 6s available so I can't think why it would be any different to when I got my 5s.

I don't see what makes the 6 a massive release over the 5s.

Apple store just went down in the US. It only went down for Ipad Air 2, everything else is up. That's new. Now it's totally down.

I did say that where I live it's easy to get hold of one, which it is. But then there was a survey done recently which said lincolnshire relies on technology the least out of all counties in the UK so that could be why.

I didn't have to pay O2 to unlock my phone, was just a quick phone call if I remember correctly (might have just filled in a form - I can't be sure).

Also you can buy a phone and then put a different sim in it as long as it's on the same network.

Depends where in the US..

East Coast 8 am is 1pm GMT
Central 8 am is 2pm
Mountain Time is 3pm(?)
West Coast 8 am is 4pm

Most likely to be West coast 8am really as that's where Cupertino is. I suspect it will be 2pm UK Time though, as it will go live at midnight on the 18th in Australia.

Apple store updating now get your Credit cards ready.lol

How long does store usually go down for before launch?

No pre order in store...they had no idea when pre order would be available!

I asked on the website (using online chat) and they had no idea either.

Having a pre-order at some random time of day is complete nonsense.

(Ooh, site is down! ;) )
