Fedex also has track by reference. Found mine using the phone number on my Apple account. Scheduled for Friday (16gb black lte)

Great tip! My 64gb Space Gray LTE model is in Tennessee and should arrive tomorrow. Apple still says it is "preparing for shipment."

Both UPS and FedEx Express have Saturday delivery but based on the info provided by "MareLuce" above, it appears that Apple is only paying for weekday delivery.

However, if your iPad ships FedEx Ground (Home Delivery), Saturday is a regular delivery day and they don't deliver on Monday.
Thanks Chupa, that's good to know. Great news re: Saturday. Odd re: "they don't deliver on Monday" I didn't know that.

Right before I checked Fed Ex, Apple status still said "Preparing for shipment."
After I checked Fed Ex, Apple status flipped to "Shipped"

odd - my credit card has not been charged yet, and I have no email from Apple saying "shipped"

Maybe I have a free iPad?
(Yes, I would have them correct the error. I'd enjoy the idea for a day. Then catholic school guilt will set in...)

I suspect they're being shipped by the pallet load to a FedEx distribution center where they'll be parceled out for delivery there. If so you won't see the tracking number until one or two days before arrival. Especially since the sims aren't even carrier specific. Should be easy to pick, label and ship. Otherwise the delivery estimates would be slipping like crazy.

Just got a shipping notice email from Apple with tracking number, etc. Says it'll be here by end of day tomorrow/Friday.

My iPad Air 2 also shows up in tracking on Fedex from Mt. Juliet. ironic that I am about 15 minutes from there and will have to wait till tomorrow to receive my new iPad. It would be nice if I could just drive down and get it today.

Mine JUST showed up as in a status of "shipped". Got an email notification and on their site it says "shipped". FedEx shipping lable created is all so far. Woohoo!

Space Gray 64GB, cell.

Just checked Fedex my order has a tracking number, nothing from Apple yet but scheduled delivery is Friday by 10:30 AM. I'm in LA and it's coming from Rialto, Ca.

64Gb Gold iPad Air 2 LTE

I've got the same thing. In Rialto, CA, delivery by Friday 10:30.

128 GB Silver LTE

As of 9:15am ET Thursday morning - still no movement whatsoever on my order placed mid-morning ET on Friday the 17th. . .

I guess it will come Saturday or early next week. Still within their window, so not overly anxious.

Anyone that ordered from AT&T have anything different other than "Preparing to Ship" 10/27/14 - 10/31/14

Nope...It's tough to know what exactly is going on with AT&T since hours after I placed the order with them, it was in Preparing to Ship status...

I got my official tracking message from Apple about 30 minutes ago. I did order AppleCare+, so there is a specific serial number assigned to me, but yes, I agree that with the single SKU for all cellular units makes things easier.

I ordered from Verizon on the morning of the 17th. Still says ship date 10/31. No change. Boooooo

Just found mine via fedex delivery manager. Standard overnight, from Rialto to Orange County (50 miles away), Deliver Weekday, Residential Delivery. (but nothing from Apple yet)

I probably won't be home for this one :(

Has anyone done pickup at a fedex location after a failed delivery, or re-routed it to a fedex location prior to delivery? The latter might be best for me, and I did it with UPS for my iPhone, but I don't know whether it will affect the delivery date... :(

Yes, I've done the former w/ other packages when the failed delivery was on Fri -- only way for me to get it on Sat. I redirected my iPad mini last year to FedEx Office b/c I knew I wouldn't be around to sign and didn't want to have it left at my door.

Be aware that only you can p/u the package. They will ask for ID.

What's weird is I had the same dates, but 2-4 day shipping not 4-6, strange. What time did you order?
