Wow. So some of you will make a $1,000+ purchase and not discuss it ahead of time with your spouse?

Two iPad Air in my hand by 8.35am at Trinity,Leeds,UK. Just setting up the second one now. They are so much smaller than iPad2!

I've also got a 2. I'm Looking forward to going to the apple store and trying it out myself :).

Wife is getting me one for birthday and xmas :).

:apple:5 iPad Air's 128GB 4G ordered. ETA Tuesday next week.

They better be good, otherwise this will be my last tablets from apple, given the recent generations failures.

Failures ! what you talking about? Can you list any? I'm curious to know cos even i'm planning to purchase when it releases in India.

He's talking bollocks, nothing wrong with any of them.

Get the Air and not the iPad 2 though, for pity's sake! ;)

Curious what failures? I've enjoyed my ipad 2 for years and the wife's 3 is still going strong. Were the 4s a dud?

If you can't tell, you are clearly a Fanboy.

There is a world outisde apple aswell

:apple:

And no signs of the iPad Air in the Amazon store - I hope this is no politics issue and it soon will be available as I need to redeem a gift card :(

4AM east coast of US...ordered....waiting for text to pick it up....plan to be there mid-day...sold my iPad 3 in our office classifieds in 10 seconds (really, 10 seconds after the email blast went out, it was gone, with others emailing after) for more than eBay and the online companies that buy them...

Aren't iPads sold by 3rd party resellers on Amazon?

Ordered at 4AM, email arrived at 6.34 that "we're waiting for you"....not creepy at all...of course, they may be waiting for me, but they are not open!

128 Att Space Gray, in store pickup. I'll grab it after work.

However, while easy this year, I remember a time when Apple would just ship it to my door on launch day. Really miss that. And they clearly had enough to do this this time.

A lot of inventory this time around

I agree. But I guess Apple wanted to create the buzz and get more people to visit their new / remodeled stores for accessories and such. Not a bad strategy if you ask me.

There's plenty of iPads to just pick up in store. UK regent street I got there at about 715 - shop opened at 8 and I had mine by about 815. There were quite a few people but they were also so efficient at processing everyone. No point in ordering online you'll get what you want Instore here at least. Think the rush will be for the mini - though I think the air really takes on the mini now - it feels much lighter than the old one.

Store in Leicester UK had a whole desk full of iPads. And by 0900 nobody was waiting outside. I don't think the queues were that big :)

Doesn't make sense. The website (US) says it'll only work on the carrier you ordered with, but at the same time, you can put any nano sim card in and it'll work.

So in one instance, it's locked, then they go on to say it isn't locked???

What they're saying [ in theory ] is you can't just buy an AT&T iPad Air and pop in a US T-Mobile sim and expect it to work.

However, if you go overseas, you may use a local provider/carrier for whatever country you're in.

Basically, it's Unlocked for Out of US carriers, but locked to the US carrier you choose when you purchase it.

Anandtech's review clearly stated that ALL iPad Air cellular models are unlocked. You can use whatever SIM that you like regardless of which one came with it.

I ordered mine 5 minutes after them being available. Preparing for shipment now, 3 hours later. Delivery estimated to 8th of November, hopefully I get it sooner than that.
