Alright, now that the iPad Air is all settled how about some Mini Retina release dates Apple? I hope it isn't too constrained. It's going to be crazy trying to fight all the holiday shoppers coming out of the woodwork around the same time. I'd really like to have it before Thanksgiving so I have some time to set it up properly and try out new apps.

here we go... I think the iPad air will sell better, not because the mini ship later but the size and weight been reduced significantly.

These are my main reasons for buying it.

I had an iPad 2 and I was pretty much sold on the idea of getting an iPad Mini once it received a Retina Display but with the iPad Air weighing significantly less than the old full sized iPad I decided to get the iPad Air instead.

Ordered it today from the UK Online Apple Store.

Same here, except from an iPad 3. I tried used an iPad Mini w/o retina and it was a non-starter but I also wanted to buy a Mini with retina.

Doesn't make sense. The website (US) says it'll only work on the carrier you ordered with, but at the same time, you can put any nano sim card in and it'll work.

So in one instance, it's locked, then they go on to say it isn't locked???

Agreed, the way its stated on the page is confusing. But I think it's a reasonable interpretation that Apple is stating two facts that should be read and understood separately rather than as continuous paragraph:

1) Out of the box the iPad will work only with the carrier you chose at purchase.

and

2) Technically the device isn't locked and, theoretically, should work with any other compatible carrier if said carrier is willing to provide you, end user, with a SIM card for its network. But, please note, end user, Apple has nothing to do with how any carrier distributes SIM cards or set their iPad plans so you are on your own. Cheers.

Amazon?

When is Amazon getting this stuff in stock? I've been quite annoyed with them lately. First they didn't have the 5s as an upgrade option on contract, now no iPad Air's at release? Glad I traded in my old iPad for Amazon credit.

Got my "We're ready for you." e-mail at 5:18am est but it only has the Smart Cover as Available Now. The Air & AppleCare+ still say's that they will notify me when the items are ready.

Got confirmation on in store pickup TODAY order at 3:03am est. Humm.....

If the rumor mill is correct, the iPad mini with Retina Display goes on sale November 21, 2013, based on a leaked Target Corporation internal communiqué. Expect very tight supplies initially, though.

I had originally thought about getting an iPad mini but its smaller screen size and no Retina Display was a bit of a turnoff. But now that the full-sized iPad is much lighter and now physically smaller, that's why I'm finally retiring my iPad after 2.5 years of yeoman service. :)

Tried ordering mine through the app for store pickup, got to the end and it declined my card for some reason, then as I was trying to fix it, it became unavailable at that store and anywhere else in the area. Then I tried at apple.com, it was still, available at the original store, and it accepted my card. Weird, half expecting to get an email later saying it's not confirmed.

The APP Store app wouldn't allow me to pick up at store but when I ordered it on my MPB, not prob. weird huh?

:apple:5 iPad Air's 128GB 4G ordered. ETA Tuesday next week.

They better be good, otherwise this will be my last tablets from apple, given the recent generations failures.

Um.... huh?

Wow. So some of you will make a $1,000+ purchase and not discuss it ahead of time with your spouse?

The joys of being single and not having to report my income/purchases to a spouse. :)

If you can't tell, you are clearly a Fanboy.

There is a world outisde apple aswell

:apple:

Come up with one example, that isn't anti-fanboy troll-dom.

Yes. Some of us make money.

Consider it cost us $600/month just to send our 3 year old to preschool. $1000 one time purchase isn't a big deal.

I walked by the Apple store inside Grand Central (NYC) on my way to work today around 7:45am and there were maybe 5 or 6 people milling around... it wasn't even a line lol, they were kind of just standing around waiting.

I'm sure they will have plenty of stock. During the 5S launch they had stock until late in the evening... because people tend to go to the 5th avenue flagship store or soho.

I know they said supplies would be plentiful, but I always play it safe. I set my alarm for 3am and had my iPad at bedside and ordered my 128GB space grey. I got the message it was ready at 5:30am and I plan on picking it up at noon!

I remember when I thought one kid in preschool was a big expense....

He's talking bollocks, nothing wrong with any of them.

Get the Air and not the iPad 2 though, for pity's sake! ;)

Thanks Jim, I'm eying on iPad Air 32 GB. White/SpaceGrey confusion is left. Need to see that in person.

The problem is that Rupees have gone down a lot, so imports have become quite costly here. The first iPhone3G i bought was for 36K now iPhone 5S is 54K, so i'm dropping iphone from the list this year and getting iPad instead.

It was nice knowing you!

You guys married the wrong woman....I told my wife I ordered it and she said "when do I get my Retina Mini?" I knew she was the right woman when I told her I was getting a new TV and she asked what size screen....after I answered, she said "get a bigger one"....beauty and brains (her, not me)

Picked one up this morning in Sweden. It's remarkably thin and light compared to iPad 4.

No problem and ordered to be delivered on Monday. Why go to the store with free shipping I say!

Got mine!

Picked on up at Target on the way to work this morn....

It really does feel more like the mini. Since I was torn between the regular and the mini, this was the best of both worlds....
