why would you get a free update for a game? Just because you brought the iphone version you are suppoes to get a free update for the ipad? some of yall are stuck in a world that is not real. the apps are priced fair. find me a game on the psp or the ds that is 5.99

Find me a game on PSP and DS that is as crappy and simplistic as Flight Control.

Not saying that it's bad, but it's about the same quality as a NES game. (Ok, maybe SNES).

Why is it so hard for people to understand that?

I will tell you why. Because they are cheapskates.

To people complaining about the pricing: If you don't like it, don't buy it. But don't tell us that is too much to charge.

Does that matter? Do you pay more for food based on how long it takes to prepare?

Regardless I think the answer is yes.

People need to stop complaining about prices. $1 for an amazing app is way too cheap, I actually wanted the iPad apps to have a slightly higher price... Hopefully these prices stick, the devs deserve it.

Oh, and you guys can view the list of "several dozen apps" but you only post 9? :(

Has anybody been able to detect, if, along with price range going from "Free" to ".99¢" for iPhone to "Free" to "$9.99" for iPad, can anyone tell if there is also a dramatic increase in the file size of the new iPad apps?

I would like to order a iPad but was wondering which memory version to get 8, 16, 32GB storage... I know 8GB will do nicely even for a lot of apps but I am just curious as to what "dent", if anything, would be made into the iPad's storage if iPhone apps are now two, three or fourfold in storage size.

Anybody know? Anybody seen anything? Any developers able to attest between the difference between their iPhone app and the iPad app?

Just curious, thanks.

I agree. The larger screen will make most productivity apps that much more useful, and therefor more valuable. The OMNI app is a great example. It's worth it.

It'll be interesting to see how they decide to sort all this stuff out. It would be nice if you could upgrade to a universal version for a lower price if you own the iPhone version already... but at the same time I'm sure some of the iPad versions of apps will be in another class from their iPhone counterparts.

yeah, friggin', right! no way would i ever pay those prices for the same game i can get on an iphone/touch....even if it does lack a little less content than the ipad version.

no, friggin', way! good luck guys.

My guess: The people complaining about the prices are the users and the people defending the prices are devs. :D

I'm no dev, I just think people deserve something for their work...

You guess wrong. I'm not a dev, and I'm glad to pay $5-$15 for an app I use daily that improves my efficiency or workflow. $5 for a game? Have you seen the prices of a Nintendo DS game?

If you can't afford $4.99, then don't buy that app.

The market will set the prices, as well as what kind of effort developers put into iPad apps.

Personally, I'm not paying a dime for something I already own and enjoy on the iPhone/iPod Touch. If you're buying an iPad so you can play Flight Control, you've got way too much money and your priorities are about as out of whack as they can be. Good Lord.

Remember, the iPad is for poor children in school districts everywhere that need to save money on books, not for playing Cro-Mag Rally.

Flight control does include some new features

Has split screen versus and co-op using the one device
a new drawing mode in game
3 new HD maps plus the classic maps

If the games are worth the $ they will sell high as well...problem is most aren't. I'd be happy to pay $20 for a good mechwarrier game...only reason I still have the xbox lol

The piano app has my interest peaked. Was just thinking the other day of how easy it would be to make a piano app. Keys light up showing you what to press. Easy enough to learn and should be simple to build.

Flight Control HD looks like it may be much more complicated on the iPad. Imagine dozens of planes flying around a 9.7" area. Total chaos.

I'm sure they thought of this... the planes might be slightly bigger.

Some people are freaking cheap-skates. $1, $5... what's the difference? I mean, people spend more than that on lunch every day. Sheesh, a good cup of coffee can set you back almost that much. Movies in a theater are twice that.

If I can get an hour's worth of enjoyment out of Flight Control HD for $5, it's completely worth it.

If the dev creates an iPad version that's basically just a port to the iPad then yes.. you should bitch about an increased price. However; if the developer redesigned adding new elements/UI/functionality to take advantage of the new screen size you have no room to complain. Just don't buy it. That's how to send your message.

What's next... "I bought an iPhone.. why do i have pay more for an iPad???"

I hope some companies offer dual format application for the same price (like blu-ray & DVD copies in same box).

I'd hate to have to buy an app for my iPhone and then pay full whack or more again to have it support my ipads HD screen.

Those prices are wack-ass.

People aren't going to pay pro-rated prices for higher resolution on the ipad.

Greedy devs will find that out in a big hurry. It's a $.99 world now.

Maybe I was the only one who thought this but I thought you would automatically get a free upgrade if you've already purchased a game for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

I officially do not want an iPad after finding out you have to re-buy a game just to get a higher quality version. NOT COOL!

Yeah, because when you buy a Playstation 3 they take back your Playstation 2 games and give you new ones for free!

Or not...

#sigh

Race to the bottom prices again I guess. I think it's amazing how people know that it's the exact same app even though it hasn't even been released yet.

Off topic: Can we break the various stores out of iTunes Store already?

early apps, take advantage of early adopters wanting to buy nice native apps to play with. Simple.

the real market pricing will take a while to find its level. Probably a little lower than that, but I'd expect 4.99 to be fairly common for ipad
