Why would they put Cardreader in the business apps for the iPad when
the iPad doesnt have a camera?
the iPad doesnt have a camera?
I hate to be that guy, but someone needs to say it:
Some of these prices are kind of outrageous. ESPN scorecenter is free on the iPhone, their website is free, but they are charging $4.99 for the iPad. The same goes for netnewswire. MLB at Bat is amazing, but should I really have to buy it twice (iPad and iPhone) on top of the year subscription that I already paid ($120) for mlb.tv? I love plants vs. zombies, but I already bought it 3 times (steam, mac, and iPhone).
I'm just saying...

Looks like we're still going to have the same quality control issues as the iPhone. xD

I said it in another thread and I'll say it here, I won't be rebuying any apps that are released as separate "HD" or "iPad" versions.
Theres absolutely no reason a universal app can't be done and released. Look at Pandora and IM+ (paid). IM+ is a free upgrade for current customers.
But the games are just ridiculous. Need for Speed Shift for $14.99? It doesn't offer anything other than a native higher resolution. Same game assets (textures, cars, etc) just all rendered natively at a higher resolution. Real Racing HD has a skinning feature, but its the same game, same assets, same everything for double the price. Same for a lot of other games like Let's Golf, Pac-Man, Plants vs. Zombies.
No reason these developers have to shaft their customers by doing this. I hope it turns a lot of people off and shows these greedy companies that they can't get away with that sort of thing.
Wait a sec- They also have SnapTell Snap a picture of any book, DVD,
or video game and within seconds get a rating, description and links to
Google?
Is this some kind of April fools joke?
Wow, I have to say I'm proud of you guys/gals. I agree that the prices seem high in some cases, and most probably will come down. However, I think this is actually the first thread that has not turned into an iPad/iTunes bashing thread, at least not yet. Now I can't wait to get mine although I'll most likely wait before I purchase very many apps. First up will be Pages, maybe.

I have downloaded 11 free apps and plan on at least 4 paid apps and I do not even have the iPad yet.
It is on the plane from Hong Kong![]()
pagansoul, where did you find those books? I tried Project Gutenberg, but the ePub books came with no covers, and they said it's an experimental feature.
Do you have a source for high quality ePubs with covers and all that?
Just got the update notifications for a ton of Apps that now are universal. Sent thank you notes to all of the devs.
iTap RDC, Isotope, Implosion, Crosswords, and Instapaper all on the list.

And the important extension of this point, if they don't make money, they will go back to their day jobs and stop making apps!
Universal App size
FYI:
This might be an extreme example, I just noticed that the "Solitaire City Lite" iPhone game went from being 4.7MB to 14.2MB for the universal app.
