You got that right!

A journey from Late January to Late March, no I'm sorry April, no wait, May

We're coming into the home straight. It's been a hell of a journey guys.

Tell me about it! I was even a hater back in the day (... january) and now I am desperately checking UPS for any signs of life all the time!!!
I can't take it!!! I have a ton of apps already to go, just need the final piece of the jigsaw!

I know someone who spent a lot more than that on a set of golf clubs. Someone else went to Wembly a few weeks ago to see his beloved team in the final and the whole trip probably cost him similar. Should they feel guilty?
YOur bills are paid and you will enjoy using it. Who gives a damn what others think. We will have 3 iPads in the household. Do I feel guilty? no Lucky yes :D

Best post of this thread. Life is short so eat dessert first.

I hear you dude. We have 2 iPads. When the new i7 MBP 17 inchers came out, I gave my 5 month old 17 inch MBP to my daughter and picked up the new 17 inch machine. It's only money.

Brain aneurysms rarely announce themselves. Enjoy it mate.

Maybe a new good thread to start would be: "what iPad apps have you installed". I've found some good one.

What I'm about to tell you won't make your iPad arrive any sooner and you'll be none the wiser as to it's wherabouts but trust me it'll warm the cockles of yer heart!

Have a look at your order details, make sure you're looking at the detailed page with payment, shipping address etc, click "Print all invoices" or "Print invoice" from the items listed, you might have two or three depending on what you've ordered and the number of packages.

Your iPad will be listed (of course!) along with it's serial number. Now copy that and paste it into the Apple Service checker.

You should now see details of YOUR iPad's service coverage. Yes that your iPad, it's just not with you right now.

Warranty should be approximately the day it was shipped + 364 days. I tried to buy extended support for mine but it's not yet available in the UK ;)

I was just coming in to ask this very question! :) I've downloaded a few freebies but my only paid app is Scrabble thus far. What have you guys downloaded, as in paid apps?

How about you start a thread and I will fill in what I have tomorrow. It is a bit late here in Helsinki and the sandman is chasing me. Me thinks I will let him catch me. :)

Oh, and post the link in this thread so that we can all follow it and then hopefully the mods will make it a sticky.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Sounds nuts, but it's like a little glimpse of Friday, three days early :)

By the way, iPad serial numbers are also listed at the end of the invoice email(s).

I just noticed that when I was looking for my order ref.

Glad to have shared the future with you.

Well we lost the Apecode for tracking our beloved iPads etc but we can use the Chipmunk decoder to tell us a little more about our Apple stuff!

I would but there are loads of these type of threads in the app forum, and you know how folks complain about duplicate threads...

Please help. For word processing, what would be better? an iPad or a PowerBook G4?

Hey Justin, they are very different devices, if you are going to be doing alot of typing then of course a machine with a keyboard is going to be better. Typing with the iPad on a daily basis you would have to buy the keyboard as typing on the screen would be too hard on your wrists and your back. I'm normally at a keyboard all day and I wouldn't ever use a iPad to type up long reports (not without an external keyboard).

You could call it the EU Group - What apps to install. I don't think anyone would mind and it would be fun to see what types of apps people across the water pick vs the US (I'm in Canada but am from Ireland). To be honest it might be helpful to others and well different cultures pick different apps :)

Yes, well I would probably get the keyboard dock with the iPad, but I just feel that for typing up assessments the iPad's screen is a bit too small to write up big assessments on. What do you think? PowerBook G4 or iPad + Keyboard Dock?

I am trying to decide if I am disappointed or pleased that I already have an iPad.

Before any announcement was made of an iPad we had booked a trip over to Florida and it happened to fall when it was due out. Wow! All I had to do was wait - then the volcano kicked off. Massive disappointment until we got rebooked.

Got to the US to find that there was no stock to be had and we ended up going to 7 different shops and putting my name down in three. Got a case early on and 4 days later I got the email.

I am really please with my iPad and I use it far more than I had thought, I have flogged my recent MacBook as it fell out of use - but I can feel the excitement of all of you just waiting for another three days before it gets delivered.

Okay. I'm glad I already have it. It is as good as you tihink it will be.

If you like Scrabble have a look at Words for Friends. It is superb. There is an iPad version. It's a sort of networked scrabble. Let me know if you get it and I will give you my user name on it and play a game or two with you. There is not time limit on moves. Very relaxed.

If your just using it as a WP then the Powerbook anyday. Very nice keyboard and great for that purpose. But... It's a bit dated now as I mentioned to you yesterday. You will probably be limited to Tiger but it will run Leopard albeit not as well. Forget games etc. on it. The iPad is a very good all rounder. It will word process, in fact am getting used to it's keyboard. I prefer a proper keyboard. Are you going to be using it portable for long sessions. If so you will probably find the iPad has a lot better battery life. Only you can decide as you know what you want out of either device.

I think you have answered your own question there. I have a netbook that has a 10.1" screen and I would never have used it for typing up assessments/reports it's just too small.

The iPad is a great multi-use tool but it's not really a replacement for a PC/Mac if you work daily on them. It's kinda like a swiss army knife it's got a bit of everything so is very useful but it doesn't replace your knife and fork at mealtime. Hope that makes sense!

Quick question on tracking:
Got shipping mail for my iPad, is shipped by Ups Netherlands but the supplied tracking number gives no results. Anybody else with the same problem?

("there are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture ... And the Dutch...")
