NYC rocks!!!!!!! What a awesome excuse to visit the big apple!!!!!

I was there over xmas and my flight was a good 16 hours from where I live!! Its an 18 hour flight just to the UK!!

It's only 6 hours from London. If people wanted one I could get them to pay part of the airfare as a 'handling fee' - it would certainly be cheaper than importing via eBay/Bundlebox with shipping etc!

Thats not a bad idea, selling them on ebay UK with next day delivery or something would get you a good price and cover your fees. Guess you would have to watch customs but I never got searched or anything recently and stocked up on tons of Apple stuff!!

Hi there. I (like some of you) have been downloading apps, and yes! in the UK store we already have ipad apps. But despite you see apps downloading, actually you actually don't have anyone after the downloading process. Maybe it is only happening to me though. In addition, I have 5 apps which are now in a new category called "iphone, ipod touch and ipad apps" inside itunes in the Library; left hand side.

I tried to purchase some apps which it is supposed that are temporary for free, but I didn't succeed whatsoever (crying)

One more thing: I am from the Basque Country and the law is the spanish one.
So if I buy the iPAD here in the UK I won't have any help if my device die during the first year?

By the way, I heard that on 7th April, there will be an Apple´s big announcement.. but I don't think it is about us...(crying)

Come on Steve YOU CAN!

Yes - as discussed in another thread, I am off to NYC in 2 weeks time. I am thinking of picking up an iPad there as it'll be cheaper! :)

If you take it back to Euskal Herria then the UK warranty won't cover you, it's tied to the country you bought it in rather than being EU wide.

That's a good point though, shouldn't warranties be EU wide? Would be great.

I noticed that a UK guy over on the official apple forum said that he bought an iPad whilst in Florida on holiday, he says that the iPad app store wont work from a UK account yet.

Im wondering whether this is because he is doing it from the iPad rather than iTunes itself as there are apps on there (and I have paid for / downloaded some already!)

My iPad is due to arrive on Wednesday (paid £410 from ebay about 3 weeks ago before the mega hype!), however im worried that it'll be a bit crap without access to the app store.

Therefore.... I was wondering whether if I set up a US account to use for the next 3 weeks until the UK store opens, does that mean I will lose everything when I switch to my new UK account. Is the iPad tied to one account?

Thanks :)

You rule!! I have been away from Euskal Herria for 10 months and how badly I miss it!!

Yes, I think nowadays people travel more and the product is from the same company anyway. I think it would be just right if the warranty would cover worldwide..

But I can't wait. I have been saving money and it will be a great tool to learn English. If it breaks, i can still go to London for a short trip to do up the ipad. But thinking again.. it could be a long wait in London, couldn't it?
I had to wait for my mac mini in Bilbao and I think it was around 1 week :S

Tomorrow I will go to Edinburgh on a trip. I will try to be tuned anyway

Cheers!!

I was in Bilbao in the basque country last year such a nice place! I
couldn't believe how many authorised apple resellers there were!

Good luck with the ipad!

I'm not sure, but I think you should probably stick to the UK account, just in case. This is interesting.

I have a UK and US iTunes account - no problem at all!! Its just like using your UK account as normal. You simply have to sign into your other account if you want to update a US app. The iPhone / iPad wont tell any difference between the two accounts

US store is waaaay better then UK especially for seasons, movies etc.

It was way cheaper also (not sure now)

Just buy itunes vouchers from ebay (they send you the code instantly) and redeem it in iTunes (use a US hotel addy to register)

I probably will be adopting that method soon - :) things are much cheaper in the US, but I don't like the closing gap between our currencies!

I should get back to developing the POS app :)

Cheaper iPad Games in UK

I just came across iPad games in UK store, thought i was special and stumbled upon a secret as i have not seen any mention of it on the mac sites i read. Oh well, felt good while it lasted. :D

On the upside the games appear to be cheaper than in the US store. If we buy enough of them it should make up for the extra premium we are bound to pay for the iPad itself.

Maybe they will update the stores this Tuesday with a release date for UK iPad and fingers crossed new MacBook Pros.

My only concern with buying US iTunes vouchers are buying bogus ones; it would be just my luck for this to happen to me. I'll of course buy ones which are selling at the same US retail value as those don't appear to be a con, but it's still a concern.

For those folks who are due to get their iPad this week, can you update us and let us know whether you've been able to download the iBook store and buy books.

Another day, living in hope that an announcement happens although I suppose it is a public holiday in many countries. My excitement has really grown for the iPad since the US launch at the weekend. :(

I know exactly what you mean, another day of watching unboxing videos , reading reviews, looking at apps. Is it wrong that i haven't got bored about hearing the problems or what people love.

I'm incredibly impatient but I don't want to resort to importing one. I want to experience the launch over here and the enthusiasm of the apple shop!!

I love this thread. It's really nice to hear that other people are going through the same things as me amidst all the whiney threads of "My Accessories haven't arrived" or "Who's got a fingerprint smudge on their iPad?". At least you have one!

Sorry, I have calmed down... But the wait is agonising! Well not the wait, I would be happy(ish) to wait a while if I could at least pre-order.

Does anyone here know someone who works in an Apple store in the UK? Has there been any confirmation over here that the 24th is a Blackout day for staff (or whatever it's called)?

I keep checking eBay, have bid on one several times, i can't resist, luckily I haven't won one yet, the prices are ridiculous on eBay at the minute! I want one yesterday!

I think we will probably hear something tomorrow!

Luckily for me I'm off to Orlando on Wednesday and have pre-ordered my Ipad.

It was delivered to my hotel last Saturday and awaits my arrival! Hurrah!!!

I too have both a UK and US account - mainly for the family use of the ATV. Vouchers are easy to get and it all works fine.

The only thing i have to remember is to take an Macbook with itunes on to activate the thing!
:D

Exactly, I bet there are some senior staff members at Apple US who would be shocked to learn that Apple UK haven't updated their website basically since January 27th.
