Please redesign them to have the smooth transition between glass and aluminum like the iPhone 6. That would be so much more comfortable to hold. The chamfered edge of the current design digs into my fingers.

And while you're at it, add back the mute switch that shouldn't have been removed in the first place! ;)

Didn't they move the mute switch to control center?

I really hope the iPad Pro is real, at the moment all we have is rumour and no evidence for it's existence.

I really wanted to go mini, and I did when the mini 2 came out, but the color gamut issue really bothered me, more than I thought it would. I won't even think about the mini again until that is fixed.

mini 4 will be the last iPad with 1GB RAM. Planned obsolescence at its finest.

So true, it is unconscionable that Apple doesn't ship every product with 1TB of RAM because no one will ever need more than 1TB of RAM and then we could hand these devices down to our children and our children's children and save the Earth and stuff because that's how the consumer electronics should work.

so what to expect from the iPad pro? OSX or iOS9? 1 usb-c is for sure and one stylus ?

unless this has 2GB of RAM, it's a no buy for me. I'll stick with my iPad mini retina until they get 2GB into the minis.

So much for specs not mattering, Apple - you won't fool this user.

But I thought iPad sales were declining because people don't feel the need to upgrade? If that's the case Apple's planned obsolescence with iPad isn't working very well.

And what will they call it?

Probably not iPad Mini4, but iPad Air Mini. I sure hope they give us a reason to upgrade from the iPad Mini 2, we love it but didn't see any reason to upgrade to the 3.

How about iPad Helium? :D

Tagline: "iPad Helium - Lighter than Air"

This had better NOT be the last iPad mini. iPhone 6 and iPad mini is a great setup for me. Have no use for a giant, cumbersome, accident prone iPad Pro. I like the regular iPad but it is too large for extended use/bad ergonomics.
Ditto for any iPad Pro model. If they do an iPad pro it basically needs to be an iPad air/MB Pro in pure tablet form.
If Apple really feels it has to "dink" with something how about re-imagining the UI on iOS...the tiles are getting really old and there could be a better way to navigate through the gobs of apps we all have. The tile interface worked great in the days before the app store and before there were a gazillion native apps to use for everything.

You can tell their sales is a mess when you see 5 iPads released in so little time, so similar (the same ugly colors), and still being sold at the same time.

I've owned many Macs, many iPods, many iPhones and although I've been tempted I've NEVER owned any iPad, and so do a vast majority of Apple consumer.

Why? Because Steve Jobs initial intuition was right: there's no point in a tablet that's just a glorified portable screen, or a blown-up iPod.

How's that for a "Post-PC" era? Remember all the apologist who would sell to you any BS Apple would say?

If they bump up the Mini specs (more RAM, better color gamut and screen resolution) a la Air 2, I might consider going back to an iPad mini. My iP6 is too small screen-wise and with AT&T's uptick in fees for new phones...that's just money I am not keen on paying.

Watch and wait...

 what ... no 7.9 size ,,,

so 1 million kid age 2-5 they need to start learning how to hold big size 9.7 inches ... that not fair

my kid she like 7.9 more than 9.7

- fit her hand
- light weight
- fit most backpack or wallet purses

i'm not agree this decision ,,,:D

It would be nice if Apple started a new naming scheme for the ipads

iPad Air Mini
iPad Air
iPad Air Pro

Nice, simple and clear.

Every time they describe Ming as an analyst "who has a respectable track record at reporting on Apple's upcoming product plans" it's just nails on slate.

Perhaps MR should consider replacing the "who has a respectable track record at reporting on Apple's upcoming product plans" with "noted Apple researcher" or similar shorthand. Every time they talk about track record I want to drag out the scorecard and argue it, when accuracy really shouldn't be the focus of the discussion.

Except that's exactly what Steve Jobs sold us. It's only now after his passing that iPad is starting to become more capable.

I really was hoping that this would have been the original idea for the iPad mini 3
. I was very disappointed in that. Hopefully the iPad mini 4 will be able to run 2 apps at once like the iPad Air 2
